Black Sea does have a tide cycle but not as wide as you get on the UK west coast for example. It withdraws for just a few meters (7-8 feet). If you are on the UK's west coast the ocean draws back for almost a mile during the tide.

Quite true, the more massive a body of water is the more pronounced the tides are. I was surprised to witness 3..4 m tides at the Spanish coast (multiply by 3 go get it in feet), since it's very difficult to spot the water level changing at the Black Sea coast.

Omg, I love Bulgaria and its coastshore.
It was named “Black sea “ not because of the color of the water but because the sea can get really stormy and in t past a lot of ships has been crushed and sinked to the bottom.

Our sea is 27 degrees when it's something like the middle of the summer
And we have so many fish that i can't believe you didn't saw any

I had a Brazilian friend who visited me some years ago... took her to the beach, there exactly, at the dyke. A fisherman was sitting there, his bucket empty, it looked like he had spent the entire morning there. She asked him jokingly: "Muito peixe, senhor?" (is there a lot of fish, sir?). This is all I have to say about how plentiful the sea is. Also below 180 m or so, it's a dead zone if my memory serves (H2S).
This was published on September where the hot summers end! You should have went on June,July,august which are the hottest months of the year when temperatures are from 30-40 degrees Celsius and the sea water is 26-29 or over.
And there is so many other beaches that you haven’t visited and some which are way better and are on a whole other level!
BTW the Black Sea derived its name from its furious nature, not its coloring.

so the black sea does have a tide, but it's even smaller than the Aegean so about 50 cm and the name comes because it was supposedly inhospitable to sailors, it's pretty clean has a lot of life. varna's beaches are pretty lifeless because it is a city and it has a shipyard, so the water isn't as clean as in other places along the coast. the warmth comes from the fact that the black sea is basically a lake with a connection to the Aegean through the Bosphorus strait, so it's more shallow and just basically less water to warm up

Don't go to the beach in Varna because the beach is really dirty form the port. Don't get me wrong it's still cool there but there are a lot cleaner places to go. :)
But I understand you are foreigners and you don't know the Bulgarian beaches well sooo....yeah
Hey, I'm from Varna and live 20 mins by foot from this beach... but never go there cause unfortunately the water isn't clean.
They didn't make the steps because of casual landslides that occur every now and then in that part of the park in particular... and were planning to build something there... but of course, corruption...
What you had in front of you was Galata (Галата) - a district in the southern parts of the city and on the other side of the port is the Varna lake, which is the biggest lake in Bulgaria.
Best time to go to our beaches is between late May and mid-August, usually around the end of August the water gets really cold.

Wow, my grandparents lived in Block 31, and I was going to visit them very often during my childhood.
Honestly the best places to go to the sea in Bulgaria are Lozenets mostly because the town is really really nice and also Krapets because the weather is really chilly and the water is always so clear

Although Varna's beach isnt too bad, there's plenty of resorts that are much better in terms of tourism, the beach you were on is more like a local place where the locals go while the resort beaches are where most of the tourists go and there's much more stuff to see and do + it's much more taken care of and there's restaurants and bars on the beach itself (which I wouldn't go to cause of how expensive it is for the Bulgarian standard lol).

I thought you will make Shopska salad but then I saw the corn, avocado, even not Bulgarian cheese /the white one, which is for salads/ and the sauces, like If my mom see ketchup over the tomatoes, she will kill me instead :DD
I was there in July this year and the water was nice, like 75-77 degrees. Surprised it dropped!
There is better beaches and places to go in varna than you were to... you have missed a lot of cool things...
Yea but this side of the beach has cleaner water (even if it's a bit colder there)
we also have steps and stairs in Bulgaria...you just have to go to the right access points...if you do not know where to go, ask people. The Varna Seagarden is big. I find you comment about what you have in the US quite condescending!

This is my home city!! Right now I'm studying in the UK soI can't come back that often, but if you uploaded the vid as you were there, then I was in Varna at the same time as you! If you're coming again, pls give me a shout, I might be there too, so I'd be happy to show you the good places outside Varna! :)
How cold was the water for it to be Sep 1? That time of year should be in the mid to upper 70's (`25 Celsius) for the coast.

You should buy some home grown tomatoes from some village in southern bulgaria. The tomatoes you buy from the store are garbage and most of them come in from turkey. The real bulgarian tomatoes are the best in the world. The same is true for the bulgarian yogurt. When you buy it from a store you are not really buying the real thing.

Varna is not one of Bulgarias’ exciting, beautiful and appreciated seaside locations. It is more industrial than touristy. A lot of far more beautiful places exist with absolutely unimaginable beaches , towns and locals.
Do some research, exploring and try the real thing!
Varna is a good town, but not for beach. Nessebar is also out, because its for alchohol tourists. For good beach go to any town from Burgas to the south. Water is just cold asf north from Nessebar. My grandpa and dad went to Kranevo for my uncle's chess tournament camp, and once they went to the beach not only the water but the breeze was freezing cold. So my grandpa went to my uncle and told him "Fuck this shit! Dancho were going to Nessebar. I like chess, but i came here to beach, not to freeze my ass". And so they abandoned my uncle in Kranevo and they had a nice beach in Sunny beach. I went to Kiten this year and id say its almost as good as Greece, just ignore the #bulgarianstuff.

Varna is absolutly not the best place to be, nor has the best beaches. There are better places, for sure, but the Bulgarian coast is without doubt very beautiful. Black Sea is unique because because of its location; it is surrounded by land and is very calm and warm. California has beautiful weather, but the ocean is cold and rough. I have been to 156 countries, have lived in 5, I have seen beautiful, picture perfect beaches but like the Bulgarian coastline -white soft sand, long&wide coastline with calm blue-green water - nowhere!

You are quite on the spot. What is missing here is the service part of the deal, no one gets it though... Everyone kind of thinks, since the resource is available, people will flock in. Doesn't work this way though and we are poised to reap what we sow.
