Ryan Kennelly is near 700 lb Raw PR and he is hitting 1100 and 1200 lbs equipped currently along with Scott. Idk how anyone takes equipped lifting seriously, it’s litterally the biggest joke ever. It’s like if you asked someone what’s their max vertical and they told you they can jump 10 feet off a trampoline; no matter how high they jump on a tramploline, you only care about what they can do off the ground.

      @@dukuextra4074 True strength is how much a person can lift while there joints are being supported. Raw lifting is just a test of who has the healthiest joints. Plenty of older lifters can't lift much raw because there joints are shit. Raw lifting isn't a true test of strength because muscles don't lift weights. Fast twitch fibers generate speed and the CNS handles resistance. A person would need 500lbs of reverse band tension pulling up to do what people think a bench shirt does.

    • @hondro7430
      @hondro7430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jameshoffman3614 You said muscles don’t lift weights and then described how the cns uses them to lift weights. Just cuz people develop bad joints doesn’t mean the definition of strength changes. The technique, structure of the lifter, and quality of the shirt determine how much you can bench equipped, which is why you see a 500 pound bencher taking a wr. There are plenty of waaaay stronger benchers than him. And no, you don’t need a suit that adds 500 pounds to your lift in order to “support” your joints. Strength is how much force the actual lifter can produce without counting the force caused by the shirt and it’s that simple.

    People keep metioning how 500 pounds is so impressive at his age; yes, true, but can we not ignore the fact that a shirt adds over 500 pounds to his bench? Is that not enough to end the sport of equipped lifting? He has a wr in a sport where the shirt does over half the work for him. There are many way stonger benchers than him who don’t have a wr, because contrary to painfully ignorant opinion, being able to lift more than someone with a shirt doesn’t mean a you have a “different kind” of strength and are stronger in your own way, it means your bench suit works better with you body and technique, yes the bench suit is the determining factor, what a complete joke of a sport, literally pisses me off.

      I say this on nearly every one of these comments but equipped lifting is it’s own type of difficult. People don’t understand this until they use equipment. Granted I’ve only ever done singly ply but there’s so much technique that goes into perfecting the use of a shirt. It’s why lifting has records for equipped and raw. They’re two completely different sports.
      With that being said I do think a guy like Julius Maddox is more impressive.

    Despite appearing similar equiped, raw, juiced, natty anything are completely different things. Compare conventional/sumo DL, equipped/not equipped DL, juiced/not juiced DL.
    Juiced to the gills Konstantinovs doing a beltless conventional 426 kilos DL is the best strength feat you can see on the net. But without the steroids, filtering his blood, and self bleeding practices he would be at the level of a 1960's deadlift record.
    In the early 1970's Doug Hepburn said that if we remove the chemicals the actual records are stuck in the early 60's when it was all natural. That is true to this day.
    Today there is a long list of equipment plus specialized moves that is so rampant that 99% of the athletes that set records can't work an 8 hour hard physical job to save their life.
    One day I talked to a guy that was literally wider than he was tall. Asked about DL's he said "Oh no! No way! Too much recovery time needed after DLs...".

    It's been obvious for many years to people that while it's awesome that equipped people can even hold that kind of weight the equipment they are doing often is doing half the work or more, which puts them way below the top RAW lifters. This is the reason why a lot of people don't even consider equipped lifters. This implies the difference between bench shirt and straps aren't as large as Bench shirt vs all other equipment on other lifts. Which is true. The RAW bench press world record is 355kg. The equipped is 512.5. The equipped used bench shirt and slingshot. Slingshot is responsible for almost half of the difference between the 2. Still, I've seen a lot of equipped benchers drop the weight on themselves, far more so than raw benchers.

    I'm a raw bencher, I have a dislike for geared lifting mainly because in my fed us raw lifters have to go up against these guys in comp for highest bench trophy/award. I came 2nd last meet with a 202.5kg raw bench! The winner pressed 260kg in multiply shirt. His lift was questionable at best! Couldn't even get it near the rack I.e start position at end of the lift! The spotters had to deadlift it into the rack! This left a bitter taste in my mouth as I trained so hard for the win only to have it stolen by a weaker lifter! Judges tried saying they deduct 10% off the geared lifter to make it fair on raw lifters. How is 10% fair 🤔 this guy struggled with 140kg raw in warmup room 🤣 anyway that's why I dislike geared lifting.
