Ironically the original meaning of " An eye for an eye" was a call for an _appropriate amount_ of vengeance. Using the example that if someone takes an eye from you, you should take one as well, but no more. Of course since violent retribution has fallen out of favor as a legitimate form of justice, its been re-contextualised as warning against taking such extremes.
Its later shown in a prequel comic that Rayla doesn't actually need to dance with the person she wants to bring into the Silvergrove. She just wanted to dance with Callum.

that explains so much! I always wondered why a singular person would need to do a half of a full dance since that would just look weird on its own.
