Rayla can blend in easily, she has different ears, little horns, and 4 fingers instead of five, so if she hides them, she can blend in, but Callum has no horns, so it's harder for him.
As I mentioned in another comment, this is my favourite episode! I loved all three of the subplots going on in this episode, the Viren-Claudia-Soren gaslighting plot, the Amaya-Janai in Lux Aurea plot, and ofc, my favourite out of the three, the Rayllum in the Silvergrove plot. The music in the episode is incredible, I especially love the tracks "Silvergrove" and "Heartbloom". The animation is beautiful, I especially love the ray tracing they do for the Silvergrove and Lux Aurea. Seeing Rayla being so excited to show Callum around the Silvergrove is super cute. And then the mood flips a complete 180 when she finds out she's been ghosted by her people, that was such a rollercoaster of emotions. The flashback with Runaan and Ethari and the assassins doing the ritual was equally emotional and beautifully animated. There's so much I love about this episode, I could go on but I'll stop here lol. Also, Callum's disguise didn't work, Ethari noticed right away but he wanted to play along as indicated by Rayla saying "Don't humour him".
I think he's by FAR the weakest part of this show (aside for the frame rate issues early on but we survived them), too much mustache twirlery and really simplistic plans and ideas for a supposedly nuanced and clever man, but still this was a great episode for him! His manipulation of the kids is definitely the most interesting part of his story and it is quite intense and effective despite the small amount of screen time
@@mella4376 I think his plans are simple because he's improvising. He hasn't been planning to take over Katolis for years or had time for really intricate evil plots, he's just an opportunist and is making things up as he goes along - and therefore encountering a lot of hurdles to his goals - which I find refreshing in a villain.
@@forgetmenotjimmy that's fair enough, but I still find his motivations and actions very flat so far. Though of course the moments of panic when as you say he's slowly losing control of the plates he's spinning are great so there's potential for sure
There's an additional bit of queer representation in this episode, sort of. While it doesn't come up directly in dialogue (so far at least) the elf interpreter, Kazi, is listed in their official bio as nonbinary and referred to exclusively by they.
Much as I hate one trope concerning them that we'll get to see in a bit (obviously no spoilers), I love love LOVE the visual style of the French/Aztec sun empire
