Largest Florida boat ramp at FULL capacity! Every boat was out day after stay at home order expired

Enjoyed a great day on the water but not without some excitement in trying to find parking at the Fort Desoto Boat Ramp in St Petersburg Florida. Once we were able to find a spot and get going, we found a nice spot to anchor and still be social distancing. The waterway was absolutely packed - I've never seen it this busy!

I used to boat for many years and I never understood the fun of people anchoring all day sitting in one spot doing nothing. We were kneeboarding, wakeboarding, tubing, cruising... always something.

MotoAtheist it’s funny though because we trailered almost 2 hours to get to the boat ramp that’s literally not even 5 minutes from this beach so I burned a hell of a lot more fuel to get to the ramp in my truck then on the boat haha. But there’s something about just relaxing by the beach but I totally get what you’re saying 😎

Depends on what area you live in but the clearest water is at the sandbar. I love going down to the keys and relax on the sandbar after a day of diving and fishing. We meet up with other boat friends and hang out, bbq etc.

Fantastic. I live in orlando, and im planning to take my pick up truck and my 18.5 br bayliner boat but do you know where coud i find an affordable hotel where i can find safe parking for bith the truck and the boat?

Have fun! There are many hotels in the St Pete area that should be good for parking but you can also do the trip in a day. We usually leave Orlando at 9am, arrive at boat ramp around 11 and are anchored at sandbar or egmont by noon. Depending on the time of year we have the boat back on the trailer right at sunset and are back in Orlando about 9-10pm. It’s a long day, but lots of fun!

Whats funny is you spend all that money trailering your boat, using gas in the boat all while you can drive there and walk in the sand bar from land lol. I know some take the boat elsewhere but alot just sit on the bar and party all day

Lol so true. But this particular one you can’t get to by car, but you can easily kayak there in a few minutes haha
