I really hope Geoff doesn't feel pressured to keep singing as low or as high as possible. We don't think of you as a frequency generator, Geoff. Your range is incredibly awesome, but it's the quality of the notes sung that is truly spectacular. I hope you keep singing as low, high, or mid-range as you enjoy. You know we'll love any of it.
I don't think I've ever heard somebody referred to as a 'frequency generator,' even by implication, and I am definitely going to use it in future.
@@robertlewis6915 "Stop generating freqencies" could basically be "shut up". Yeah I'm using this too XD
i think the same so often people claim to be bass and cant actually sing a note any1 can make deep voice sounds , but VERY FEW can Sing low and make it sound good my uncle and his acapella group have a decent bass but 99% of youtube bassers really suck. Geoff is so freaking good at singing period
This one is not low for him - I'm not even sure he goes to sub harmonics
The original sounds like Chris Isaak is floating through the air as he tries to not fall in love. Geoff's version sounds like he's already fallen, has hit the bottom, is trapped in the mud and cannot get out. It be like that sometimes
True, but here's the kicker...we don't FALL IN love nor do we FALL OUT of love. We either LOVE or we don't. LOVE is ACTION NOT WORDS/FEELINGS. What we FALL IN/OUT OF is INFATUATION; LUST; FEELINGS. Most people don't even know what LOVE actually IS or even how to DO LOVE. Just like the end of the song says....NO ONE REALLY LOVES ANYONE....and that's the cold/hard TRUTH.
&& then HIM’s version sounds like the middle of it. The act of actually falling in love.
Anyone else click "Like" and move Geoff Castellucci's cover to a Playlist without hearing first just because you know he is going knock it out of the park
LOL, I clicked the "like" button then listed to it. I already know ahead of time that I'm going to love his music.
Nope. I still go through the motions. And get frustrated that I can only like it once. Again and again.
I liked it when I got notified about the premiere. When I clicked the "notify me" button.
This rendition deserves more views. More I say. MORE. Thanks for this Geoff.
I love how stripped down this version is. It lets his voice shine ✨
@@andrewvelonis5940 Well, visually. We still got some of that sweet, sweet Geoff Castellucci harmony going on there.
Agreed. Having just him at the piano, and the harmonies added without multiple Geoffs made it raw and very powerful.
I can’t resist how Geoff’s purring growls pour through you like shivers turned to sound.
I just read one of the most beautifully composed sentences ever.

Great job and arrangement as usual, along with Kathy!!!😃😃😃😃
Huge thanks for this brilliant cover, because it made my heart melting!!!

I didn't notice a sort of subharmonic sounding.
Those were also from bass instruments in the background, as well.
About 2:31, I could be wrong naming it E1. I think he stops at an F#1, for a brief timestamp.
Wicked Game... This song is a big favorite... Geoff's special clear voice and piano playing transformed it...
Its simplicity makes this cover beautiful and unforgettable.
He stripped down the original song and built something that is rarely heard anymore.
Wicked Game was given a new personality by him.💙💯
Geoff's voice is a gift to the soul...
Mhm. It truly is. Thanks Geoff for all the work you put into giving this gift to us listeners.
There’s no way this won’t be incredible. Pre-shoutout to Geoff and Kathy and all that they bring into the world ❤
This is great. I thought Chris did it well, but this is even better.
He sings like a tiger would purr......what a soothing vibration his voice provides......must have healing powers.......
Interestingly, not all cats, like tigers, can purr. They do, however, chuff.
That's it! That's what listening to Geoff in covers like this one feels like, like a cat rolled up on your chest purring.
@kellykittenkins hah I clicked to comment the same thing but I'm glad another such as yourself beat me to it 😉
People, stop casting love spells at this poor man! Can't you see he's suffering?
Above all, he is very married. It's not ethical to try to take him away from his lawful wife !
@@ygorjensouniev-mafabriquea6992 No, that’d be a wicked game!
I love Geoff's low notes and crazy abilities. I have to say though, I love his higher notes just as much. Such as at 1:20 and 3:02. Geoff has a truly amazing voice that I can listen to for hours.
This is a masterpiece. Arrangement 10/10. Performance 10/10. Video 10/10.... Hair 10/10. Great job, Geoff (& Kathy)! You really are something special. We adore this!
“Hair 10/10” 😂 I wasn’t expecting that but I guess you’re not wrong.
@@GeoffCastellucci: this really shows your upper and lower vocal are golden.
Geoff sings this with a gentle sort of intensity that's just perfect. 💙
Geoff thank you playing this song!!! This is one of my favorites and I every time I hear this song the world stops. I can't wait to hear this song tomorrow the my good headphones
His voice is amazing it amazes me every time
I can't quite explain the feeling that takes over me when it's just Geoff and his piano with those low, rumbley tones. It's like when a cat lays on you and starts purring... Inexplicable peace and happiness. ❤
From the opening notes, tears sprung to my eyes, not only from the chords this time but by the plaintive cries of that piano. The arrangement as well as the instrument choice (not just that it's piano, but the type/timbre/tone of the piano) is absolutely perfect in conveying the heartbreak of these lyrics. I could have sworn that you slowed down the tempo from the original, but comparing the two, they are both at about 112 bpm and then I realized - Chris Isaak’s version has percussion on 1-2-3-4, but you’ve chosen to halve that, which gives the *illusion* of being slower. Really changes the mood of the song!
Geoff, your choices just amaze me! I love how you utilized the main motif of this song in so many cool ways. At 1:04, it was super cool to hear, behind the lines of the verse, the motif of the chorus in the high, high piano, starting on an F#5, coming down to E, then D and *lingering on that D to create an E7 chord* (excuse me while I swoon for a moment) before finishing the line down to C# and then B. Then it repeats, but this time not lingering on the D and resembling more of the "I...don't want to fall in love" melody line.
At 0:19, there's an A in that B minor chord, turning it into a Bmin7 chord which just has such *richness* and depth and interest. Holy smokers.
At 1:18, using the above-mentioned chorus riff, but *backwards* (ascending) and in the bass clef as a transition to the next part of the song?? GENIUS! It's those little elements that really tie your songs together. (Not unlike The Dude and his rug.)
I knew this was Angie who could really analyze this piece of music
Angie, thank you! You always come through with the theory.
I literally sat here with a metronome comparing Geoff's version to the original because I thought his was slower as well.
I also landed at about 112 bpm for both versions, and ended my train of thought with just a "huh".
But you come along and explain to me why I was hearing what I was hearing, and that's why I adore your musical breakdowns so much.
I am crying rivers RN. Geoff's voice is an arrow targetting both my heart and soul.
Glad I was doing a "listen to Wicked Game covers night" today, and fell over this gem in the process. :)
В 1990-х годах эту песню часто крутили по нашему радио. Но в исполнении Джеффа она обрела новое звучание. И этот чудесный голос, который хочется слушать и слушать. Это очередной шедевр! Спасибо, Джефф! ❤️❤️❤️
It breaks you and makes you cry... And after you listen it again and again (yes, being in his Patreon is the best thing ever!), it heals you. Thank you Geoff❤
Your range is amazing.
The simplicity of this arrangement stripped back and raw gives it all of the emotion the original missed. Its stark low rumble then ascends to a chorus in the clouds. Love it.
Geoff I love your arrangement of this song and your vocals are so awesome. The video set was tastefully done. Sweet!
Oh my heart 🫶🏻
I like it stripped down to just the vocals with a Piano while he had white walls with windows.... simple, elegant, and it really makes you focus on just the amaziness of his rang and the beauty of his voice. You can really focus on every inflection, Man is too talented!
Dear God, this voice should be illegal. That bass is amazing but then he takes my breath away with the higher notes every time!!
A thousand likes in less than 10 minutes. This one deserves a million guys, let's do our thing and get it there. What a beautiful cover and amazing artist. Geoff does it again.
oh don't worry. I'll play this 500,000 times (like I do with all his other covers). Love that LOOP option!
I keep coming back to this. Haunting and yet ethereal with that awesome 'purr'. I had already loved this song from the original Now after hearing Geoff's several times I need to say just how much more emotional he made it. Previously, I really liked the higher parts, but Geoff has changed those into an almost breath. Not that he sings it in a particularly breathy manner, but more that it is so natural it is almost like breathing. Whereas, Isaak's high bits were more like a yodel. And usually, I prefer Geoff's more 'rounded' tones in his bass voice, but these more gravelly purrs feel more like a 'catch-in-the-throat' emotion. This is just gorgeous! And getting more gorgeous every time I listen to it. Visually perfect, too! Almost like the subtlety of fog. So many shades of grey.
Singing is so personal, it takes courage to find your voice and then courage to share it as you have.
After multiple listens, it occurs to me that there are repeated builds then falling back. Just like the relationship; step forward then back. Such an intriguing detail.
Geoff + a piano = all god's blessing in your ears i swear 😩❤️
My mind: Ok, LAST video for now
Five seconds later: What?! Geoff covered Wicked Game?! So much for that..
You've seriously got a gift brother, thanks for sharing it with us
This song is beautiful in your performance. Each note is like a soul touching a soul. When the last sound of the song fades away, I realize that love is inside us, not outside of us. Thank you.
P. S. Sorry for the mistakes. English is not my native language.
the talent in his lows crazy, just now discovering this artist i am impressed
When I first saw these four quad triplets sing together so harmonious I fell in love with them right away. It took me weeks before I found out it was just one man singing all these different tones and lyrics. Mind wouldn't allow me to believe it, I am still having trouble believing it. I am not surprised about his bass voice because I grew up around Church quartets. But the fact this man has such a awesome range of all four tones of singing vocals is just darn astonishing! Geoff if you read these comments Thank you and God bless you. I cried the day Marty Robins died I had just turned fifteen and I so much loved his music. I heard you sing a few minutes of his song "Big Iron" and I cried again, you did such a good job of it. Could you please sing more of Marty Robins songs for me and make an old woman happy reliving her youth. Thank you. I loved Paul Bunyan's song as well.
Матерь божья, я под это теперь буду засыпать и видеть самые сладкие сны. Не голос, голосище! Потрясающе. Все аплодисменты ваши.
Absolutely! I’ve added it to my Sleepytime playlist already. (It starts out with Misty Mountains and Till Then. There is something so soothing about that growl-y low tone.)

This.. this is.. I literally have no words. Geoff’s voice in this song is just - bliss. He’s honestly making love to the microphone with his voice and it’s just simply unbelievable, amazing, indescribable… you get the point. Geoff is just so incredibly talented. My mind is completely blown by this song. Literal CHILLS with every word!!
I’m not sure how I missed its release, but it’s definitely going on repeat right now!!
Geoff, I think this will make you smile - my one year old heard your voice and immediately pointed at my phone with a smile, and sat quietly through the whole song, just listening. You are one of her favourite artists.
What a wicked irony.. to see an existential sadness in Geoff's expression while he performs this one.. His voice is haunting. And in a way, he seems haunted by something treasured in the past, and now gone. More than immersing into the song, it shows a personal experience of his own thoughts, of his own emotions. Beyond identifying with the story, it's as though he is reminiscing of something he lost. That's why he got a work of art as a result. 🎹
Started tearing up due to emotions but happiness it’s a cover of the song I’ve been obsessed with for month since seeing the show
Sends shivers down my spine 🙂
It's like a thought then a whisper then a cry - So beautiful ..
I’m so happy that you finally caved in to our demands…uh…requests for this song and even ended up enjoying it yourself. I always knew your voice would be a perfect fit for this, especially where it sits in the whispery part of your low chest range. The drops give me chills and when the harmonies hit, I feel like I leave my body for a second. It’s so beautiful!
Geoff’s deep, smoky voice pulls you in, and then his incredible range shakes every fiber of feeling. Another exquisite arrangement which becomes another benchmark of beauty. Thank you.
The bass just vibrates the walls ...😊🔥
This is strange. I've listened to Geoff so many times that my ears seemed to be trained to expect certain things from one of his creations. The low notes...are resonant and give a shiver...because they are as good as it gets, every time! When it's time to stretch his range, the ears are expecting silk and melting butter, and they are rewarded. The harmonizing is anticipated, and every time it's like...omg...as the ears are taken on a ride. Putting his own uniqueness to a cover is just the icing on this velvet cake of hard work and talent. When the maestro sings, the ears are grateful to have all expectations met, and thank you for the enjoyment of truly beautiful music.
Can’t wait, had first dance at my wedding in 1992 to this. Song lasted better than the marriage!
Sort of a weird wedding song, as the lyrics are about how love is fake. But the music is beautiful
I went to a friends wedding 20 years ago and their first dance was to their favourite song, "Tainted Love"@@anndurham3109

I've loved this song for years and was one of those wistfully hoping for the Geoff treatment pretty much since day one of becoming a patron. Geoff, this is everything I hoped for and more. You've honored the heart of the original, while putting your own unique, lovely spin on it. The bts on Patreon shows it wasn't all easy times pulling this whole production together either! Every time, I think that I'm finally going in prepared. And every time, I am not. This one shakes me, hard. A gorgeous, emotional gut-punch, so beautifully bittersweet.
I really didn’t think this was a song I’d ever listen to on repeat, but Geoff put his magic spell on it and I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to it now, but it’s many! And I’m definitely not done with it any time soon…
I vote he does Somewhere Over the Rainbow. If not him, then Voiceplay. Even if it's a short I wanna hear that.
Indeed. With his range, he could really do some interesting things with that song.
The harmonies at 2:30 might be my favorite Geoff harmonies I've ever heard. My goosebumps reproduced at borderline unhealthy levels
Dragon purrs and those gorgeous harmonies! Love this!

This has been soothing my broken heart this week after the loss of a pet. So glad to have had early access to it through patron because Geoff's voice always helps with my anxiety 🥺
And once again, Geoff has proven that any song he covers, that's now the best version of that song.

I love the overall look of this video that you went for and it just works. I like that you used the space you were in to frame yourself in different ways. Talk about less is more.
I was one of those that was asking you to please cover this song as I had full faith in you being able to do something unique with this,. I'm so glad I did, because..
From starting off with a melancholy feel but so gently and carefully, almost whispering instead of singing. Building up to more grounded and steadfast. (Can we talk about how you switched up some of those rhythms??)
Back to the melancholy feel from the start and transition with the support of the very modern instrumentals to those very sweet, gorgeous, and hopeful high notes and harmonies. This part really gives me chills every single time. Needless to say, I like what you did here.
I don't know how you keep upping the game for yourself with every production, but somehow you do. I'm glad to be a patron and grateful to have a song I requested get the Geoff Castellucci treatment. I'm super impressed by your ability to take a song that you had reservations about and make this with it. What a skill to have.

Looking forward to hearing Geoff sing LOW... can you please do some more narrations? I've listened to all of the ones that you have on your channel and just love your sexy voice! Can't get enough of it! You could read the phone book and I'd still be fascinated by you!
