Epic Moments in this song: All 5 min and 50 sec of it ;) But seriously, here’s some of my favorite moments 0:47 J with those descending arpeggios 1:03 Eli’s tone in his beautiful lower range 1:25 J’s smooth and soulful solo 2:06 I love the pairing of voices for this section-J and Eli harmonizing with their baritone voices while Cesar and Layne blend beautifully in the background with their lighter and breathier tones 2:32 The background vocals switching between oohs and lyrics 2:51 Geoff’s hand when he drops a sub 2:55 Eli’s rock grit while J and Cesar harmonize 3:21 After Geoff just sang low, he jumps to sing baritone with the group then drops back down 3:33 The “boom” effect with Geoff’s hand gesture, the camera shake, and Layne and Geoff’s low note-is just *chef’s kiss* 3:47 Eli's solo 3:58 Another "boom" visual from Geoff 4:04 The background vocals for "they play" has so many cool runs in it 4:17 The stacking of "I know" from Eli at the top to J at the bottom 4:24 THAT HARMONIZED SCREAM! Eli! 4:26 Geoff drops a low note while he does an epic hand gesture that makes it look like he created that earthquake with his voice-Geoffquake! VIOLAYNE! 4:41 Eli’s riff in unison with the violin 4:45 Geoff air-playing the bass guitar 5:09 The background vocals melt from “ooh” to "who we are" 5:16 The song returns to how it started with the bell tones while the tempo slows down In each instance of the bell tones, one person is not singing. I think Geoff arranged it this way so that at any point in the song, the 4 people can do the bell tones in the background while the other person is soloing. I love how at the beginning, Cesar sings the highest harmonies with his breathy tones. But as the intensity of the song goes up, Eli takes over the highest harmonies using his rock tenor voice This is a masterpiece of an arrangement-I have no words to describe how amazing this is. Geoff brings us on a journey as he slowly builds the energy of the song to the climax. What a way to start the new year!

If it had been any other a cappella group than Voiceplay I would have had my doubts that this song could even be done in a cappella, not to mention that it takes a lot to do James Hetfield's voice justice. Voiceplay however not only did the song so that the voices blend together in a way that is different from, and yet definitely worthy of James Hetfield, but they also managed to twist it enough to make it completely their own without loosing the essens of this iconic song. What a masterpiece!
Were it possible to wear out a digital track, that's exactly what I would have done over on Patreon. This is one of my favourite, if not top VoicePlay things ever. I still get chills. I'm *so* glad J was able to join for this one, because his voice is just perfect here. Eli is, appropriately, the absolute rock star of this song. Layne gets to show off in a jaw-dropping way, but I won't spoil that. Cesar's earnest, breathy tone is gorgeous. Geoff is just awesome. I mean always, but a heaping of extra bassy awesomeness here. Such a masterful arrangement and production all around ❤
Definitely, Eil Jacobson have seriously rockn’roll side for his perching high notes like heavy metal or rock singers, he is definitely a keeper for Voiceplay.
his name is Eli Jacobson, he used to be in rock bands before joining VoicePlay, and his voice gives that perfect rock vibe that several of their covers need!🤘🤘

been tossing this around my friend groups singing the praises of this cover so might as well share the praise here as well It's amazing, the way everything is laid out, the build up; the violin solo straight up making me feel some kind of deep, feral, primordial emotion that sends shivers down my spine everytime This cover is straight up amazing
I haven't been able to listen to Nothing Else Matters for a long time, because it used to be "our song" in a relationship that turned emotionally abusive and hurt me very deeply. Your version took the pain from it and enabled me to love the original again, on top of being one of the best things you guys ever made. Thank you so, so much
I've always been a sucker for songs that evoke an emotional response from me. When Metallica released this one, I enjoyed it, but it didn't initially *grab* me. A few months later, I fell into what turned out to be a rather rough time in my life, and I heard it again (it *was* rather ubiquitous), and it was like hearing it for the first time. This time, it hit me straight in the core of my being and completely resonated with me. (In retrospect, my interpretation of the song at that time was not the same as James Hetfield's in writing it, but hey, music has always been subjective! 😁) Fast forward to now... to hear a stripped down, a cappella version from you that still maintains that *feel* of the original? This was another blow directly to my core. This time I'm older (and I'd like to think wiser), but it still staggered me. This arrangement is just mind blowing in how it *feels* simple, but is oh so complex. 🤯 My jaw is still in residence on the floor, and I canNOT thank you enough for this, guys. 🤘🏻💕
I am SPEEEEECHLESS. I am still in amazement and awe of what I just heard and felt. Like talk about FEELS. Oh my. Every single person ATE THIS UP !!! BEAUTIFUL ❤️
It's so wonderful to have such a talented group directly supported by their fan base and able to just focus on creating beautiful music. Thank you Voiceplay and thanks to their backers!
You’re welcome and all but….I do it for me. Backers at a certain level get all the MP3’s. I neeeeed all the MP3s. 😁. And I got addicted to the behind the scenes vids. I get more entertainment out of their Patreon in a month than I do out of most of the streaming tv services for the same time. When push came to shove during the lockdown and I had to make some financial cuts, I dropped two streaming services and kept VoicePlay. If anyone reading this finds the extra money in their pockets, try the patreon thing. So worth it.
Came here from The Charismatic Voice analysis and I'm still in awe of this. It is fantastic. I'm a Metallica fan so this is awesome. This has been covered quite a few times, the most recent I've heard is Miley Cyrus/Elton John, but this is hands down my favorite. The arrangement is gold and I agree with other commenters that this deserves all the accolades. 🤘😎🤘

It's been so long since I've listened to anything worth listening to. The earth and my ears are so tired of surrogates in music. And here it's all alive. Thank you for the balm to my heart. Hugs. I more than love you.
I could listen to you guys sing none stop. I used to sing, and still play 4 instruments, but I had a medical issue with my thyroid and throat and I can no longer sing. It's very emotionally satisfying listening to tou boys!!!

1:25 J’s smooth and soulful solo
2:06 I love the pairing of voices for this section-J and Eli harmonizing with their baritone voices while Cesar and Layne blend beautifully in the background with their lighter and breathier tones
2:32 The background vocals switching between oohs and lyrics
2:51 Geoff’s hand when he drops a sub
2:55 Eli’s rock grit while J and Cesar harmonize
3:21 After Geoff just sang low, he jumps to sing baritone with the group then drops back down
3:33 The “boom” effect with Geoff’s hand gesture, the camera shake, and Layne and Geoff’s low note-is just *chef’s kiss*
3:47 Eli's solo
3:58 Another "boom" visual from Geoff
4:04 The background vocals for "they play" has so many cool runs in it
4:17 The stacking of "I know" from Eli at the top to J at the bottom
4:24 THAT HARMONIZED SCREAM! Eli!
4:26 Geoff drops a low note while he does an epic hand gesture that makes it look like he created that earthquake with his voice-Geoffquake!
VIOLAYNE!
4:41 Eli’s riff in unison with the violin
4:45 Geoff air-playing the bass guitar
5:09 The background vocals melt from “ooh” to "who we are"
5:16 The song returns to how it started with the bell tones while the tempo slows down
In each instance of the bell tones, one person is not singing. I think Geoff arranged it this way so that at any point in the song, the 4 people can do the bell tones in the background while the other person is soloing.
I love how at the beginning, Cesar sings the highest harmonies with his breathy tones. But as the intensity of the song goes up, Eli takes over the highest harmonies using his rock tenor voice
This is a masterpiece of an arrangement-I have no words to describe how amazing this is. Geoff brings us on a journey as he slowly builds the energy of the song to the climax.
What a way to start the new year!
I feel each moment you described!
That all sums up in this.
That weird sound at 4:36?!
@@edwinlongwell I was going to put that in there but my list was getting long for a YT comment 😅
I’m sure that sound was Layne’s idea because he has a background in electronic sounds and remixing
Genuinely, Layne on a violin is now officially my favourite thing in the world. I need to see more.
Be sure to check out their cover of "Warriors," then. 😁
What about this: Run to the Hill by Erick grönwell.
100% !!!!!!
This is a winner. I can't stand metal. I LOVE this. My husband loves metal. He also loves this. Voiceplay knocked it out of the park on this one.
WE DID IT! WOO!
You sure did. Been playing it on repeat since the Patreon release.
This is lovely! Love you guys! Since I discovered you recent,6, I find I need to play one of your videos each day! Thank you for making beautiful music! Keep it up! 😀👍👍👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💕🌸
Metallica isnt metal, its Rock, but yes, VoicePlay did knock it out of the park.
@@ouroch5324 well, definitely not my genre if I cannot even categorize it right. Lol
Oh my god!!!! The goosebumps!!!The shivers!!!!! An all time favorite is reborn and it is breathtaking!!!
Verbatim a true masterpiece
@@Buckknife66 that is indeed what they did
Were it possible to wear out a digital track, that's exactly what I would have done over on Patreon.
@@deanmarion5477 my favorite rocker.
@@bethjeans3780 : definitely
Grandma approved 😊
Geof's clean, solid bass; Eli's beautiful range; J and Cesar's SO smooth support; Layne's on-point beat boxing and gorgeous violin...outstanding!
Who else immediately started looking for the second one?
What about this: My heart I surrender by I Prevail Band.
They are all fantastic, but the guy in the middle brings the perfect rock energy to the song.
his name is Eli Jacobson, he used to be in rock bands before joining VoicePlay, and his voice gives that perfect rock vibe that several of their covers need!🤘🤘
Layne whips out an electric violin and nothing else matters ❤🔥
I spent 25 years in the music/Broadway entertainment industry.I have listen to this Repeatedly And each time there is a different reason for all the hairs standing up on the back of my neck.Grinning like the cheshire cat with a tear trickling from one eye, bravo gentleman bravo !!
I cried from pure joy watching this the first time on Patreon. As someone on the autistic spectrum, this song has always been a practically spiritual experience for me. James Hetfield spoke to my soul with Nothing Else Matters and now VoicePlay sang into it.
Teary from reading your comment.
What a testament
Yay! Another autistic voiceplay fan! So am I!
Nunca vi nada igual! Todas as vozes impecáveis! A do cara do cabelão meu Deus que grave sem igual perfeita esse grave . Sinceramente me emocionou demais! Assisti 4 vezes ! Assisti e fiquei voltando o vídeo várias vezes.. sem acreditar! Se aqui na terra o ser humano é capaz de tanta proeza com a música.. eu fico imaginando os anjos no céu cantando pra Deus deve ser de arrepiar!
He can beatbox like it’s nobody’s business AND he also plays the violin??? What can’t he do 🤩🤩
And he have pretty voice too 😊 yeah he is insane
He also plays violin in their cover of Warriors, you should check it out!
The vioLayne XX
Pentatonix's Kevin does their beatboxing and plays the cello so Layne being an excellent violinist doesn't surprise me.
He is pure bread breed or a hybrid breed of all beatboxer.
Wow, Geoff has really outdone himself this time. Absolutely incredible arrangement.
You all are amazing! And yay, Violayne has returned!
Violayne😂
I am a metallica fan for ages… when i heard this the first time i went crazy. This was the song i thought Voiceplay would fall on me.. but no.. you crushed me and proved that you couldn’t do wrong in my life. So, everytime Voiceplay or Geoff releases a new video… I’m like: take a deep breath and get ready!.. and i’m never ready… you guys always break me
The most beautiful of Metallica songs done beautifully. Thank you.
Truly a work of art! Geoff, you’ve managed to capture the essence of an iconic rock song with an outstanding vocal arrangement. Everyone sounds flawless on this. You guys somehow out-do yourselves with every video! Proud to be a Patron for VP. Can’t wait for everyone to enjoy this masterpiece! ❤
What about this: I Want It All by Queen, we want Lyane Stein to take full lead, collaborate with Adam Rupp from Home Free as 2nd beatboxer, high harmony by: Eil Jacobson and Cesar de la Rosa, Geoff will used his mixed of subharmonic and growl for the bassline
The bass, the BASS🔥
Chills, literal chills🥰
All about that bass.
About that bass.
No treble.
@@robbob5302 and Nothing Else Matters 🥰😌
🔥🔥🔥
OK, that was SHOCKINGLY good.
Eli is soaring so high he made it into a low earth orbit, and then when you think you saw it all and even the camera is shaking - hey, lets throw a violin at Layne and see what happens...
Hat off to Geoff for pulling off this impossible Metallica acapella arrangement.
What a bunch of F'king pros!
Не поколонник Metallica, но сейчас удивили. Превосходно! После исполнения песни Цоя посмотрела на них с интересом. А сейчас покорили меня окончательно. Браво!!!
Troppo bravi direi immensi😅😅😅😅😅
I hope metallica has seen this. It's absolutely awesome. I love this song to begin with but you guys took this to a whole nother universe. It was brilliant.
I have to say Eli really shone in this. The right amount of melody, harmony, high, presence, rasp at times, etc.
Hats off sir! 👏
He is the most rock’n roll tenor 2 that I ever heard, let’s do any Heavy metal songs for Voiceplay to do.
What an amazing arrangement! These guys are supremely talented.
This song is a old classical song and I love, love love it. In this version I became speechless ❤Wonderful and those guys are amazing and I love the way they sing ❤🎶🎤🫶
These guys are true professionals- that was a masterful performance! ❤
This is the best acapella cover of a song I’ve ever heard. Replaying it over and over. So powerful and moving. Be proud guys! ❤
First time listener, longtime Metallica fan. This is phenomenal.
All the voices make me shiver, but Geoff’s bass - moves my soul. ❤
been tossing this around my friend groups singing the praises of this cover so might as well share the praise here as well
It's amazing, the way everything is laid out, the build up; the violin solo straight up making me feel some kind of deep, feral, primordial emotion that sends shivers down my spine everytime
This cover is straight up amazing
This is brilliantly sung! And this is the best band I've heard in the last 30 years.
I haven't been able to listen to Nothing Else Matters for a long time, because it used to be "our song" in a relationship that turned emotionally abusive and hurt me very deeply. Your version took the pain from it and enabled me to love the original again, on top of being one of the best things you guys ever made. Thank you so, so much
Can relate to that
De lo mejor que e escuchado los ultimos dias. Hermosa conjugacion de voces!
I love when Eli goes in rock mode, he is sooo good at it
I love it when it goes from pure accapella to a violin...unexpected but very well received
Fast forward to now... to hear a stripped down, a cappella version from you that still maintains that *feel* of the original? This was another blow directly to my core. This time I'm older (and I'd like to think wiser), but it still staggered me. This arrangement is just mind blowing in how it *feels* simple, but is oh so complex. 🤯
My jaw is still in residence on the floor, and I canNOT thank you enough for this, guys. 🤘🏻💕
When music is so powerful it moves you to tears then you know it is something special. Grammy!
I am SPEEEEECHLESS. I am still in amazement and awe of what I just heard and felt. Like talk about FEELS. Oh my. Every single person ATE THIS UP !!! BEAUTIFUL ❤️
This one made me sob. Jaw dropped, tears streaming. Absolutely amazing ❤
This is now my favorite song by any of the Voiceplay members now... its just... a masterpiece.
This video deserves one hundred megazillion views.
Best Metallica cover ever.
I think this is my favorite VoicePlay lineup. J. None, Cesar, and Eli sound so beautiful together. These 5 together would be perfection.
I agree. They are always good, but that mix is next level.
I didn't think this song could get any better! Those bass notes........❤
It's just so wonderful how you really make the song your own in the best way for everyone so you all shine. It really is just magical sometimes.
Grammy Time!!! Just give them one already. This may be the most amazing song production I have ever seen! The composition, stage, effect... it's perfect! This is raw emotion on display.
I've been listening to this on repeat for hours, every day, for the last two weeks 🔥 This is pure epic perfection 💖
So hours... that's like one listen all the way thru, right? 😉
This is the best cover ever of Nothing Else Matters, every time I hear you guys sing I get the tingles keep up the good work
Just amazing; thank you very much ❤
This turned out to be my #1 played song on spotify for 2023. No complaints there!!!!!!
You guys will forever be my favorite way for checking out the full range of any wireless earbuds I buy.
As a near lifelong Metallica fan, I was skeptical. As a VoicePlay fan, I shouldn't have been. Absolutely amazing job gentlemen. Probably the best cover for this song I've ever heard, and there have been a lot of them.
My dad being a metal fan and me a voiceplay fan this was such a pleasant surprise. My father passed in september and i am sure he would absolutely love it too! Brought me to tears!
I’m sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss.
I hope every time you listen to this you feel your dad smiling down at you (and maybe throwing the horns 🤘).
Same thing as me, lot my godfather, his favorite rock singer is:Bon Jovi, one new song by Bon Jovi is called Bed with Roses because it’s remind me of him.
As an old man who listened to Metallica blaring over loudspeakers going into battle for PsyOps (who cares if it worked, we got to blast Metallica AND go Pew! Pew! Pew!), honestly I was a bit skeptical about whether I would be able to enjoy this. I no longer am. Well done, lads. I truly appreciate the mind blowing work and attention to detail making this happen and each of your individual contributions. Semper Fi.
Omg, this is spectacular... they are spectacular. All so different vocals, but make a perfect whole. I am seriously mind blown. Perfection ❤
Oh my god !!! This is absolutely wonderful, I'm a metalhead and this version made me so proud, congratulations guys!!!
Never loved Metallica and only familiar with their biggest hits. This was an incredibly beautiful rendition! You men are freaking talented, like blew my mind!
BEST ACAPELLA EVER FOR THIS SONG !!!!!!! PERIOD
Beautiful people with beautiful voices sing the beautiful song.
And nothing else matters...
I was honestly going into this thinking it'd be more pop-ish and I'd ultimately think "very impressive, not my cup of tea" but legitimately superb work. I don't think I can pick a favorite part. Metallica fan stamp of approval.
This is the cover of the century for me. Unbelievable talent across the board. You guys have my utmost respect and just made yourself a new fan!
Eli has reached escape velocity. Aside from stellar production (as per usual), flawless execution (as always), and genius arrangement (thanks Geoff), it's Eli that hit this one into orbit for me.
Wonderful!
Wow. So beautiful -- giving song a new life. I love how you put your emotions into it.
I saved this as:
"Play this at my funeral", I started crying listening to you guys. Wow!
Really awesome group! And you made a faboulous work with this song, you all deserve my respect!
