I spent a whole day it seemed putting my carb back in my 05` crf250r. It really makes you miss your old 250 2 strokes, when all they had was two boots and a throttle cable, as far as I remember you didn`t have to remove the gas tank, sub frame, seat, shock, etc, etc. I went to remove my carb and found the top bolt threads missing=jb weld. Parts in the bowl green, and a jet clogged. No wonder the thing wouldn`t start. Now it starts on the first kick, yipee !
To be fair, as a first timer this video was on point. It might not be the quickest method but it breaks down many issues I struggled with. stupid little issues that will become second nature in time but this video certainly helps a bloke understand his bike more when starting out on maintenance. The throttle cable was being a proper cunt and after two cups of tea and avoiding the shock i've decided to do it this way. I had heard Honda CR carbs are tight for room. still, I learnt a lot from doing it the slow way and pulling it apart...on a separate note she has sand everywhere so this allows me to deep clean before I put her back on the Ice. The first time always makes me feel like I'm going to break everything and loose parts, anyway, time for another cuppa.
Remove the air filter cage...after the full sub frame has been aligned and tight....use a wooden hammer handle to bump the boot back onto the carb. Also found leaving carb loose at the all clamps until all boots are mated.
troy yerbury I just got the engine back in my bike and recommend taking off the top end before you take too much of your bike apart trying to get the whole engine out
All of the hoses coming off the carb, do any of them need to be capped off? They’re just breather hoses, vacuum hoses, and overflow right? They just point downwards and stay open correct?
So mines not starting now and I'm reading that the throttle position sensor shldnt be taking off how you showed anyways i did and I'm wondering if thats the reason it wont start
The throttle position sensor should have a mark on it that you line up with the screw but if that mark has worn off you can use an ohm meter to set it just follow the factory service manual procedure. Even if that sensor is in the wrong spot it should still start that throttle position sensor is only used to advance and retard the timing.
Hey man my crf250r 2004 takes like 15 20 kicks to start its a Pain in the ass what should i do? Should i clean out the carb or is there anything Else I can try first??
marco hernandez I ended up not needing to rejet once I replaced the gaskets and the acc pump it ran fine I think the acc pump wore out because it runs great now
you can take the carb off without taking the gas tank or subframe or seat off 😂😂 idek why u did that I have the same bike and I've never needed to take all that off

It's a very tight squeeze though. On my 09 250crf there was probably a couple milimeter of leeway to get it out at most. Good luck getting the carb back on the intake and airbox that way. Possible? probably, with an hour of cursing.
Thanks for the insight trying to get the carb out of a 2005 honda crf250r and it's a pain in the ass... this was somewhat helpful

Thanks for sharing! I'm a novice and this should help put me in the right direction. Much appreciated!

bro youve got to make a video on how to get the air boot back onto the back of the carb. Its killing me
pain in the ass!
Little bit of bell Ray grease or petroleum jelly
Remove the air filter cage...after the full sub frame has been aligned and tight....use a wooden hammer handle to bump the boot back onto the carb. Also found leaving carb loose at the all clamps until all boots are mated.
loved the vid buddy ..... yng bloke just seized his bike so watching these vids to rip the engine out
cheers

Correct
Thanks mate! Very helpful!
Super helpful. Thanks.

Cameron Degering I recommend checking the valve clearances first
I have the same issue....sometimes it takes for ever to get mine started
I would clean the carb/lines. Put new gas if it is old. Then go get your valves adjust. I'm 1 year late I see lol
Do the decompressor mod from thumpertalk
Helpful but makes me miss my 125 2 stroke lmao
what size jets did you put on? I just ordered a jd jet kit and will be jetting it since it was at a 4000' altitude and is now at sea level
marco hernandez I ended up not needing to rejet once I replaced the gaskets and the acc pump it ran fine I think the acc pump wore out because it runs great now
Thanks 🤘🏽
You sound a lot like Trey Canard :))
How do u get the air box off the carb?
losen up the screw and pry it off with a flat head screwdriver
you can take the carb off without taking the gas tank or subframe or seat off 😂😂 idek why u did that I have the same bike and I've never needed to take all that off

Bobby Johnson make a video then and show us
I went to mmi i approve this video its the new way ill do it. Why not

Would’ve been helpful if you actually showed every step
I appreciate the support and I’m glad you liked the video.
@@crf100 it really helped for some parts but u skipped some steps that I really needed
