We have the SHP-DP609EN And we find the Fingerprint sensor Very hit or miss. Despite logging in over 5 different fingerprint profiles for each fingerprint. It still will only unlock on the first go maybe 30-40% of the time. And as you've found out try too many times and you're hanging around for 3 mins for the Lockout to end. every other feature works a charm Great lock don't depend on the fingerprint sensor as your only means of getting in.
I found ours can be slightly temperamental as well. I added multiple hands and fingerprints. Luckily we have one in the garage and front door. Worst case I have garage as backup and the garage slider can be opened using alarm system.

They are a great unit & very reasonably priced compared to a conventional entrance set with about ten times the features

Does it have child lock to prevent kids or dogs openning the door?
They’d be able to open it from the inside, but not the outside.

Yes, but only if you buy the wifi module.
Just got it installed in my new house. Can you connect it to smart things app? Or do you need a seperate module for that.
