    Please remove the video from our My Digital lock showroom
    The top 3 digital lock rank as mention were hardly been found in Singapore or sold well in China
    These companies don't even have a range of digital lock to install for different type of doors.
    Most importantly, if any of your users who purchase as mention of the lock above. When the lock is faulty there will be no warranty support as no digital lock company covers the spare parts
    We have been in digital lock industry for 12 years.
    At least we know customer is looking for digital lock that is well design, stable in mobile app and able to receive warranty support
    Any of the lock u mention breaks down, none of the lock company in Singapore can repair them
    Also you don't even know the type of mortise or lockset u are recommending.

      As a consumer, we will do our own research and make our own decision. Videos like these are helpful and informative for whoever is looking to have a digital smart lock.
      With 12 years of being in the digital lock industry, My Digital Lock should be reaching out to help Alex gain more insight into these types of things. Instead of telling people, they don't know what they are talking about.
      Thanks Alex, the video was informative, you showed the different type of digital lock, suppliers and showrooms available. Your top three were based on your preference, favourite and we understand this.

    important tip: if you are buying and installing yourself, please measure that the gap between gate and door is bigger than the depth of the door lock exterior, otherwise you can't close your gate. Using the Philips 9300 iirc, it's expensive but it has a slim exterior so it doesn't hit my gate

    I like the consumer point of view to a lock purchase backed by experience in using one. This makes a real difference - from say listening to a sales person. The unfortunate rule of thumb I apply to sales people at most digital locks shops I have been to is you can't fully trust them - the sales metrics drive recommendation and experience (or lack if it) can do a lot of damage if lies are made (instead of saying I don't know). There are exceptions but the price point of these locks is not the segment that one can really trust sales people up front. So videos like this makes helps me to narrow down and better prepare me with questions I haven't thought of. I don't need reviews of every lock out there. I just need a few from a more trusted source (than some company). Kudos!

    You should add into consideration that without a manual unlock from the inside, if the lock malfunctions for whatever reason, u can get locked in your own house. I think that is a major factor in choosing a digital lock. Also, with a handle, space between your door and gate comes into play.

    I’ve had a Samsung Push-Pull lock for a few years but I’m sick and tired of being locked in, so I’m on a hunt for a new one. It happened twice which is bad enough. So much distress to the folks inside. Imagine if you had a plane to catch. Anyways, I read an article by Jon Wong titled “Samsung Digital Door Locks: Thou Shall Not Exit Your Home!” (great read by the way and quite funny). Lockin S30 Pro use 4 or 8 batteries if you want extend the life more than 1 year+++. Body is solid metal alloy no moving hings comparing with korean lock. Since it is fully automatic, it is much quiet than original HDB mechanical mortise lock. Unlocking is quite fast, it less then 2sec. RFID using lockin IC card only, cannot be duplication or use other brand card. One thing to clarify is that, it does support phone remote unlocking, dont need to waste time generate OTC during urgency. Keyhole is easy accessible without any tools compare with xiaomi push pull lock.

    I'm using the full automatic Aqara D100. The main reason for choosing this lock is the thickness of the lock. I'm living in a old HDB area where the main door and gate are very close, most of the push pull type can't fit in. Initially I was worry about the rechargeable battery pack that come with it. After using this lock for almost a year the battery is still 53% full. I got it directly from China and installed it myself. Not too difficult if you know how and have the required tools to do the job.

    I'm using Samsung, push pull design. Back then there weren't so many options. You ruled this out as the fingerprint reader is located separately, but I feel this is easier if your hands are full - those you showed required you to grip the handle. Also liked their accessories (e.g. small key tags) which are useful for extra users (easier to activate/deactivate than new fingerprints). Long lasting battery life and is reliable. Takes 8 batteries but can run on 4. I think it also has some anti-tampering alarm.

    @ezlinear9138 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi Alex, thanks for putting up the video. There is one more thing if I may add, is the lock catch. I have the Samsung push pull one for 5 years already. And it really is very loud especially in the middle of the night when you return home. The click when you push or close the door really is a big thing to me. I visited some friends whose door has a very quiet opening and closing. That’s when I realise some of their digital door does not have the bolt catch. When opening with finger print, the lock just move inwards the door and you can push the door open with almost no noise. Same for closing. The door closes with a soft close and the door just locks swiftly and quietly. Why I am particular with this is because it’s really annoying and a bother and sometimes the closing wakes me from my sleep. So that is also one important aspect for me when looking for another digital lock.

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah you are very right, that is the problem for most push pull design. For true silent unlock, check out fully automatic lever lock, the yale biosecure is a good choice for that

    I'm curious about your thoughts on gate vs door lock. I'm currently torn between them since we are probably gonna be leaving our door open for ventilation so it might not make sense to install a door lock. but then again, the door locks seem to be more fully featured than gate locks. I also dont see a point in installing both locks haha. What are your considerations behind choosing the door lock over the gate lock?

    • @AlexTeo
      @AlexTeo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      wow what you said make whole lot of sense. Might as well have the lock at the gate lol. Generally mortise locks are more secure than deadbolt or rim locks, with more security features. Depending on your gate, you can actually reach to the inside of the lock easily too which is pointless. So some have a trigger button in the house for the gate lock, this is another level of inconvenience

  • @mahen587
    @mahen587 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What are the reasons you do not see a purpose in getting a smart lock for both gate and door? If you were to choose, would you install at the gate or door? I find it hard to see myself using a key for one and a thumbprint for the other.

    I am leaning towards S30 Pro for a rock solid push pull handle. The Igloohome has a moving-type rocking handle which I worry may have problems - and I kind of like the feel of the rigid non moving handle that you highlighted in the video for the S30 Pro. Will decide closer to April when house is ready - and hope to check back here for updates before making a decision! Thank you Alex for the digital lock review.

    How about a digital gate lock? Assuming that we will like to leave the gate's manual lock permanently unlocked using only the digital lock as the main lock. The idea is to leave the door open most of the time to enable wind to go through the house and yet having the peace of mind that the house is secure + convenience of digital lock.

    2. Since Aqara A100 is an asymmetrical design due to the handle, could the handle’s direction be changed if the door opens the other direction?
    3. If SN 1 is not possible, do you suggest the main gate to have the A100 or the wooden door?

      Just had Lockin S30 Pro installed . I did see the option to set a time based pin code in the Mi Home app, like how you described it: "activated for instance from 10am to 12pm every monday"

    Hi, can you clarify if these locks are for indoor or outdoor use? If you live in block of flats then these will be fine, as the door to your flat will be indoor. Thanks

      let's just say that they are not waterproof, not meant to be direct exposed to rain

    So many great choices in Singapore! In Canada where I live, there is only several fingerprint choices available! But here people are cheap, I don't see many Canadians willing to pay more than $250 CAD (approximately $250 SGD) for a smart door lock.

      ya its amazing how this is so different in every country. In korea there are so many brands and very expensive. Then you look at US, one of the most popular one is august locks

      @@AlexTeo Yeah, now I pay attention to the locks on the door when I watch Korean TV serials. Every house has one. A Korean friend says income is not that high in Korea so likely the Koreans buy the cheaper ones - and leave the expensive ones for overseas - like Singapore.

    I’m using August for main door, and Nuki for gate, and both unlock as soon as I reached in front of the entrance. No need rfid card, pin, or fingers. Just me with phone, still inside my pocket 😜. Integrate with Homekit, so no need any bridge.

    I am a Korean.
    In Korea, there is a traditional brand called "Gateman" and it has the largest market share.
    "Samsung" and "SOLITY" are mentioned, but there is no number one company.

      thanks for sharing, so the more popular brand now in korea is still gateman?

    Hi Alex! What about the Xiaomi X20 and Xiaomi Mijia Lock X? Have you tested them? What are your impressions?
    Both works with Apple Watch (wallet tag)? And Do you know if the Lock X can register more then 1 person to face recognitions?
    Thanks
