I was in my late teens in the 80s. I went to the movies with a guy that I was crazy about so I wore some of my mom's Coco Chanel. After he hugged me goodnight he said my neck smelled so good it made his legs weak. One of my favorite memories!
@@VeronicaSays Have you done a food scent video? I am desperately looking for a scent that smells like cooked white rice and also one that smells like bread - both raw dough and freshly baked. Without any candy or sweetness added. BBW used to have riceflower and shea (discontinued of course) and that was like the perfect blend of the cooked white rice and bread dough together. Valentino (before company was sold) had V Absolu (discontinued around 08) which was a powdery, tuberose rice scent, absolutely unique and delicious.
@GigiBellia not exactly what you're looking for but for bread try Fior di Pane by Profumo di Firenzi or Panettone by Milano Fragranze and for rice try Santal Basmati by Affinescence or Dirty Rice by Borntostandout.
When I think of 80's I think of Coty Musk, Design, Beautiful, White Linen, Opium, Obsession, Loves Baby Soft, Jovan Musk, Gorgio, Poeme, Volupte, Liz Claiborne, Halston, Aromatics Elixir, Original Vanilla from Body Shop, Victoria by Victoria Secret, Rapture Victoria Secret, Aspen, Lady Stetson, Tribe, Youth Dew., Lu Air De Temps omg I think I could go on...enjoyed this video🙂
Oh wow!!! You have a mega list going here! I love it! I bet you smelled amazing in the 80s. 😁😁😁 I tell you, there could easily be a part 2 and 3 for this video - a whole series of these powerhouse fragrances. 🥰
@@VeronicaSays oh wow a part 2 and 3 ...yes!!! That was a very interesting era ..80's were my teens to young adulthood ... l'air du temps was my fave ...i wish we kept the bottles ...😍
@@VeronicaSays yes it is planning to get me a bottle ...i love vintage perfumes ...am in the philippines and we do have fragrance suppliers here ...i envy your collection though ...thanks for sharing them with us
Now it's all celebrity fragrances and influences. Young people missed a wonderful Era of huge perfume houses and designer perfumes. Big and bold and fun times. Defined the times and great memories. Thanks.
I was a teenager in the 80's and am not ashamed to say my favorite perfume was Original Charlie , I still wear it in the winter, and my beautiful mother wore Estee Lauder Youth Dew.
@VeronicaSays I used to love, love, love Youth Dew when I was younger but I just can't wear it now anymore, ..but I do like the Youth Dew Amber Nude it's still around and is still very good. But I remember Charlie my Mom used to have (believe it or nor in the ki tchen cabinet😂 but when I was a teenager and going off to school,I would grab the bottle and and spritz it on! And then my Mom would drive me and my friend Ellen (we all called her Ellie though)...and we'd hit all of the stores and spritz on almost everything, and so when my Mom came back to pick us up.. We smelled like a French brothel 🤣
Ooh Giorgio! Thát was really the scent we all loved in the ‘80’s, we wore it to school on a regular day, those poor teachers. 🤣 And we didnt spray it only once… nooooo we took a bottle with us to school to spray halfway through the day. 🙃 I really feel sorry for all my classmates. 😂
Haha! Oh no, and Amarige! I still laugh out loud every time I think of the signs which restaurants would put outside; 'NO GIORGIO'. HAHAAH :D I also watched a video ages ago where the frag comm TH-camr shared a story about going out to dinner with a friend and prior to his departure, he oversprayed Papillion's 'Salome', which is a stunning floral abstract with an animalic note. A woman actually came over to his table to complain that his fragrance was making her sick. Obviously he was embarrassed, god, wouldn't YOU be too?! I would have wanted the ground to swallow me up, especially if I wasn't dining with a good friend but perhaps on a first date. But part of me also wanted to playfully slap his bum because wearing heavy fragrance out to dinner is such a social faux pas. And a fragrance like 'Salome' or all choices...what in the hell was he thinking?! :D
I love Giorgio I still wear it today I used to wear it in junior high and in high school and all through the Halls you would smell Miss Carmella wearing Giorgio
'80s girl here . . . here is the scent soundtrack of my Wonder Years. My mom always wore Chanel Cristalle EDT (1974) and Jean Nate. I loved the Jean Nate and used to sneak a little dab here and there. The grown up ladies in my life (teachers, friends' moms) walked around in lovely clouds of these fragrances: Fendi by Fendi (1985), Liz Claiborne (1986), Knowing by Estee Lauder (1988), Obsession by Calvin Klein (1985), Oscar de la Renta (1977). My "signature scents" were Love's Baby Soft (my first "big girl" perfume), Exclamation (1988), Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth (1989), Malibu Musk, Designer Imposters "Primo" which was the imposter version of Giorgio . I was also gifted a bottle of Amarige at the end of the '80s (1991) and it feels very '80s to me in my memories. I recently re-smelled Exclamation and Amarige for nostalgia's sake, and boy oh boy . . . so STRONG and SWEET! My tastes are so different now as a grown woman!
Oh wow!! This is quite the lineup of nostalgic fragrances. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I know most of these. What memories! And yes, isn't it funny how our preferences change over time! 🥰
I started high school in 1982 and my fav was Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. I used it all the way to first year of my University career. Then I moved to Anais Anais from Cacharel. I still love both of them.
Oh yeah l wore Estée Lauder. Those fragrances really take me back. I remember the Pvt Collection. To this day l think her fragrances are good. At some point White Linen was my obsession. I also love the Estée Lauder lipsticks, foundations and face powder ❤️
Estee Lauder ruled the 80s!! So many fragrances and cosmetic products. To this day, I still love the Double Wear foundation - one of the best full coverage foundations on the market, hands down!!! 👍👍👍
80's kiddo here too (born 1977)! 💓 My Mom loved Coco Edp. So 80's! She loved some classic Jovan Musk, Oscar de la Renta, Fidji, Pheromone, Gucci No 3, Anais Anais. I have strong memories of being happily suffocated by those perfumes. Poison took over a room 🤯 smelled it all the time on my babysitter (I was probably 7 or 8)😳😳💜
About 5 months ago I bought oscar. It was hard to wrap my nose around but now I love it and I like to layer it with Estee Lauder pleasures. Again, I am glad to live by myself where I can enjoy them as much as I want.
Liz Claiborne in the red triangle bottle was my first perfume. I also wore Sunflowers, safari, Ralph Lauren in the purple bottle, Il baccio, beautiful. Poison was one of my faves. My cousin wore Carolina Herrera. Her mom wore Coco. Mom wore Ysatis, halston, and anis anis, and she loved Chanel crystalle. So many great memories. ❤️ some of those may have been early 90s. 🤷🏻♀️
Oh my! You named some really great ones! 🥳 I can't believe I forgot to talk about Sunflowers. I ran through several bottle of that! And Anais Anais of course. 👍 Thanks for watching! 💖
What a fun video! This really takes me back to high school days. I think Opium came out in 1978, then Chanel responded with Coco in 1985. Both are heavy on clove, but Coco added some rose and jasmine. IMHO, Coco is more refined and smoother. whereas Opium is like a brick of pure clove. And Chantilly, that to me seems like it was a drugstore perfume version of Shalimar, lots of vanilla. And Poison, so beautiful. I agree 100 percent Giorgio Beverly Hills was everywhere. I was in high school in the mid '70's, and lots of girls would wear that one. Giorgio was the scent of my high school years, and into the '80's. Thanks for your detailed descriptions of these classics.
My Mom wore Opium ,Shalimar ,Anais Anais & Chanel No . 5 ( For really special occasions only) For me the early 80scwas Highschool and then College . I wear the current Anais Anais , Chloe ,Escape YSL Libre,& Gucci Gorgeous Jasmine . Sure Love your Videos on Fragrances . Thanks so much Laura from Canada. ( Brand new to your channel!!
I'm from Brazil and in the 80's having imported fragrances was only for the wealthy. I remember that my older sister saved for few months and got herself a bottle of Anais Anais. I used to sneak into her closet and have a few sprays 😂. I live in England now and it's amazing to me how fragrances are so accessible 🙏. I got a bottle of Eternity recently just for the pleasure of owning one as I couldn't back home 😄
Oh wow! It's interesting - we forget that perfume is a luxury item, regardless of the price. Anais Anais was a TOTAL powerhouse! And so was Eternity. They STILL are!! 👍😉
I went through a patchouli oil phase in the Eightees I was all about patchouli oils, Love's Deep Earthy Musk Cologne, Havoc from Mary Quant, or Calvin Klein Obsession. YES, #19. That one escaped me, but I remember it so well. I enjoyed Clean's line of fragrances in the early 2000s too. Wonderful. Thanks for the memories 🙏🙏🙏
My mother wore Opium and Poison in the 80's when I was a kid. I'd "sneak" some sprays sometimes and obviously it was clear to the entire house that I had been into her perfume.
As I creep to my birthday 🥳 I was feeling the theme for this video. Thank you. But when I think of the 80s, I automatically remember Halston. The amber colored one in a unique, for the time, shaped bottle. This is what I think of when I think boss lady fragrance.
Hi Melanie! 💖 Thanks for watching! I don't have memories of Chloe - thanks so much for adding it to the comments here. Which Red are you thinking of - who made it?
Love so many of these fragrances, I'm a 75 baby so I had to wait until the 90s to wear them, and did I wear them 🤣 Obsession, Opium, Shalimar, Poison all day, everyday, all weather, probably killed a few people. Still wear Shalimar and I just bought a bottle of Obsession and still love it.
Love this video! Estée Lauder’s Beautiful was another beast mode classic. It has been my mom’s signature scent for decades so it will always have a special place in my heart 🥰
Beautiful was amazing. I think my ex fell in love with me because of Beautiful. Lol One of the only fragrances that stayed on all day and night. Never had to carry it in my purse to refresh. I miss that!
Thank you for the wonderful walk down memory lane. The 80s were a huge decade for me: I got divorced, entered my 40s and then was swept away in a passionate love affair. I associate three perfumes with that affair: Magie Noir, Must de Cartier, and Paloma Picasso. Tbh, I wasn't a fan of most of the 80s perfumes, e.g. I had a friend who was saving up her money to buy a bottle of Giorgio and I just couldn't understand her enthusiasm! I was surprised to see Shalimar in your list since it's been around forever. I found Shalimar in the 60s and even though there were times I didn't wear it (like the 80s), it has always been my very favourite perfume of all time. Loved this video! Lo. xox
Thanks so much for taking the trip to the past with me! You had a very eventful 80s! It's interesting how fragrance triggers memories of life events, isn't it? Thanks so much for watching! 💖🥰
Everyone in my school during the 80s wore obsession, geogio Beverly Hills, Polo or Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Dakkkar Noir a little later, Magi Noir Estée Lauder was what I wore 2nd year college. Don’t remember others, but obsession was everywhere.
My country was in the Soviet Union in the 80s and there was no import of western products in general, and perfumes as well, but in Poland (which was part of the Warsaw pact which is the Soviet equivalent of NATO) there was allegedly a Lancome factory, so the uber-elites could get their hands on Le Climat and Magie Noire. My family was well connected so my mom wore those and i love them 💕
Hi Jo, oh my! Thank you for sharing. Yes, let us not forget that the Cold War was still in full effect in the 80s!! I hadn't given thought to the fact that not all countries had access to "Western" products. That Lancome factory in Poland must have felt like quite the indulgence. And Magie Noir and Le Climat (which I just learned of in these comments) must have been very strong in those days. Thank you for sharing! 🥰🥰🥰
Yes! We sent all kinds of care packages to relatives in Eastern Europe too. And I remember all our family friends and relatives huddled around living rooms all over the city, waiting for the phone to ring or making frantic phone calls when the Chernobyl disaster happened. Anyhow our 1980's clothing, toiletries, toys, books, shoes etc were all passed around all our overseas relatives and friends. To see OUR 1980s hand-me down clothing worn in family and school portraits that were mailed out to us with their letters, even ten years later was delightfully odd. That stereotype of the Eastern Bloc countries having this aesthetic/sartorial backdating and looking like it was still ten years earlier than it was in the West is true and accurate. Even the music they listenend to... :)
I really, really LOVE all those perfumes. And you make me remember me siiting in class wearing Opium, on my right my friend wearing LOULOU, on my left my other friend wearing Knowing. And this was only our table.... There was everything else like Paloma or Byzance with us in that room! So, imagine this scene today in an open space office. Unthinkable.
I remember wearing Tabu, and my teacher asked what I was wearing and then saying Tabu. She said it certainly is and sent me to restroom to wash it off! Another Girls only boarding school!
Ah the 80s!!! This was a fun trip down memory lane - some classics!!! They had to be giant, beast fragrances to combat all the cigarette smoke going on lol🤣Great video, V!!!😍😍😍
Oh gosh yes!!! We actually had an older dept store by me, that closed about 10 years ago- but I remember they still had built in ash trays on ledges in the fitting rooms! Imagine the burn holes when you were trying on clothes lolol
Yesterday, I bought my first bottle of paloma picasso. I am in love. There's something about it that is just so attractive. I'm so glad to hear you talk about it. Also I am glad to live by myself where I can enjoy it as much as I want.
I remember begging my father to please buy me a bottle of Vanderbilt! Haha. My mothers fragrances were classic chypres so I avoided them when I was young because they just smelled like 'grown ups' and that was not appealing to me as a 13 year old; who wants to smell like the original Miss Dior or Rive Gauche at that age? Haha!
Have you ever heard of Ciara,Van Cleef and Arpels by Van Cleef and Arpels the bottle looks like a huge diamond 💎...Fire and Ice by Revlon,Unforgettable by Revlon,Regines by Regines,Senso by Ungaro,Ungaro by Ungaro,Le Parfum by Sonya Rykiel...Bijan by Bijan,Must de Cartier edp or pure perfume was to die for and still, and Lou Lou just some of my favorite 😍 fragrances also Initial by Boucheron very, very good, the orginal Valentino with the gold cap by Mario Valentino, the original Tiffany by Tiffany's fragrance Catherine Deneuve, and Interlude by Frances Denney,Jil Sander No 4...all sexy but iconic vintage fragrances from the 80's and 1990's..
Wow Veronica! You’re like a museum of perfumes! 😂😆🥰 Loved Paloma Picasso on my mom! 💕 She also wore Dune by Dior which I think you own. Love this video so much! 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes I do have Dune and I love it. 😁 I think I mention Dune in my 90s video which should post within a week or so. I went ahead and ordered Paloma Picasso and Oscar yesterday. Reading all these comments got me excited to try them again! Eeee!!! 😁😁😁
My gran used to wear cacharel lou Lou in the 80s, my mum wore white linen, Chanel 19, Maggie noir and ysatis, also diorella and the original miss dior were her favourites, whenever I smell any of these fragrances I'm transported back to snuggling up with my mum and sniffing her glorious perfume as she hugged me tight, such classic beauties to me. Thanks for this great video.
Hi Missy! If you ever want to shuffle laterally, just a liiiiiiitle bit to the left of Obsession then may I suggest the following few fragrances? 1. Eleonore by Rance 2. Ambre Premier by Jovoy 3. Under My Skin by Francesca Bianchi 4. Ambre Loup by Rania J They're all in the vague realm of Obsession and Shalimar, with the Bianchi one being by far the dirtiest, most obscenely explicit post-coital fragrance I have EVER smelled. I literally can't describe it whilst looking someone in the eye because all the references would embarrass me enormously and flush my modest little cheeks bright crimson. ;D
I love Kouros,Polo, Yataghan, Drakkar Noir, Adidas cologne from 85, Opium for women, Elizabeth Taylor Passion for women and men, Lapidus pour Homme, Shalimar, Mitsuko, Jovan musk, Azzaro pour Homme, paco Rabanne pour Homme, Halston Z-14, Halston 1-12, Bogart Furyo,Dana Tabu, English leather,Brut,Avon Wild Country,Avon Roses Roses,Avon Deep Woods,Avon Leather,Boss Number One,Givenchy Gentleman,Geurlain Vetiver,Quarum, Oscar De La Renta Pour lui,K De Krizia and way too many more to name
Oh Wow Yes I do remember Giorgio!! Very 80s !! When I was a kid I always got into my Mom ‘s perfume collection . It was when I sprayed it on and all over my mom would get really mad at me . But she had Oscar & Giorgio ,Shalimar ,Opium amongst others . One you didn’t mention but I remember was 1 . Ruffles By Oscar De LacRenta also Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt . These were both popular . Ruffles was discontinued towards the end of the 80s . Gloria Vanderbilt I believe can still be found . Some of the fragrances you listed are probably reformulated by now in 2024 from their original formulations . I love Anais Anais & Escape most . Anais Anais launched in 1978 and Escape in 1988.
Lou Lou was my first perfume purchase back in the 80s as a young adult. I was in love with the whole campaign centred around the actress Louise Brooks and the original blue dabber bottle with the minaret type lid. I can't believe I wore this, it is so potent but beautiful and very unique.
This video makes me so happy! Nothing like 80’s perfumes…. No one was afraid of bangers!!🙌 Did you ever wear Diva by Ungaro, or Ysatis by Givenchy? Loved those! 💜💜
Hi Kathy, so glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, they were all bangers in those days. I did not wear Ungaro or Ysatis, but know of both of them. I wonder if I would like them today. Do you still wear these?
@@VeronicaSays I haven’t worn either in a while, but I’ve seriously been thinking about getting them again. I hate that everything is reformulated and wussed down from how it used to be. Drives me crazy!😂
My mom wore poison. I will never forget it! It reminds me of her. I wore tribe in the 90's. Ahhh the nostalgia of the 80's and 90's. These perfumes bring back those memories. I just spent 200$ on a bottle of tribe! It was discontinued in 98 or 99. I love it.
We are the same age, and I LOVE how you described the 80s as our wonder years 🥰. I love how these scents bring back memories. I can remember when my grandmother started wearing Coco in that era. She STRICTLY wore Chanel 5 for many years before that. Such sweet sense memories. Thank you for the lovely video.
I saw the title of the video and told myself this video is trash if it doesn't include Dior Poison and Veronica, you did not disappoint! To me, Poison is synonymous with 80s glamour but you're right...I forgot the chokehold that Giorgio had on the world at that time...the iconic yellow striped awnings outside the Rodeo Dr shop and the matching shopping bags...it was a symbol of the upper echelon and owning a bottle of Giorgio fragrance made that "Dynasty" life a little accessible for us regular folk!
I love this video it brings back memories. I was poor and we could not afford to buy many of these perfumes So I would go to the pharmacy and sample them.... There's are more from this era like Cachet from Prine Matchaelli that changes with your own ph, Enjoli by Charles of the Ritz, Heaven Scent, Jontue had the most beautiful commercial. Jean Nate that I still wear in this screeching heat of Puerto Rico. Lady Stetson, Wild Musk by Coty, White Shoulders ,Emeraude, VaInilla fields, Toujour Moi by dana which I use as a bed time scent, You put a smile in my face, Thank You
Hola Mirian!! Oh my god - Jean Nate!!! Stop it! We went through soooo many bottles of that stuff! Wow. You mentioned some I have not heard of - thank you. I do have Emeraude. Lady Stetson and the Coty perfumes - the memories! Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed them video. 💖💖💖
Gem by Van Cleef & Arpels - loved this but not been able to find it for decades now, YSL Rive Gauche which I still use, Amarige by Givenchy, Poison, Chanel No.5, Ô Lancome, Fidji. By my mom - L’Air du Temps, Knowing, First by Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron by Boucheron. Loved by others around me - Lou Lou, Anaïs Anaïs, Obsession, Paloma Picasso, Magie Noir
As I'm 54 the 80's were my clubbing days. Fragrance were so strong. Coco Chanel was my favorite. My late sister wore Poison. Paloma piccasso loved that too. Yes Georgio OMG my boss wore this, you could smell her a mile away. Lou Lou another potent one. Great video, you look beautiful 💕
Ahhh you were grown and sexy in the 80s and rocking some larger than life fragrances! Your late sister also, bless her soul. 💖🙏 Georgio... whew!!! A massive headache inducing powerhouse if oversprayed (which I did! And did often)! Thanks so much, Louise! Thrilled that you enjoyed the video. 😘
Ohhhh the 80’s. The last best decade. I could write you a book here. Yes to all of those fragrances. ❤️that danger bottle of obsession had me ready for all kinds of high school dances!
Hi Renee!! I know it!! I could have easily kept going and going on this video - so much go talk about!! You were smelling GOOOOD for your high school dances!! 😁👍💖
Giorgio screams 80s to me. I'm an 80s girl. I was 12 in 1980 and had the preppy and new wave and finally the big hair!! Aqua net and Jheri Redding chocolate mousse were my best friends !!!! Awesome video!!
Calyx! Oh my! I worked for Prescriptives when it was launched. What a fun time I had! All I have to do is hear the name and I immediately smell that grapefruit top note. :) Thanks for the video.
I wore Opium in high school. I would sit in class and sniff my leather watch band. The combination of the leather mixed with the Opium smelled so beautiful and transported me from many a boring class. I also had a mini of Paloma in high school. I wore it on occasion. I recently picked one up on a deep discount at TJMax. It smelled nothing like I remember--quite bad in fact. Safari and Escape were also big 80's hits for me.
Hi there!! You'll see Safari and Escape in my upcoming 90s video (when I wore the heck out of both!). Your leather watch comment has me wondering... I wonder what Shalimar would smell like mixed with a leather fragrance like Bottega Veneta or even Ombre Leather from Tom Ford? I am going to try it!! Thanks for commenting! 🥰🤩😄
Opium in the 1980s was GORGEOUS. So many of these constantly reformulated old classics lose that 'something' every time and don't smell the same at all. It's like a saturated oil painting slowly turning into a water colour painting. Boo!
I was afraid to leave a comment lol 😆 you have to answer 372 of them 🙌🏾☺️. I’ll just leave one friend, I don’t want to overwhelm you 🥰 The 80’s we’re the best and loving your line up 🥰🤗🤗
Thank you! 😘😘😘 I answered all the comments though! They are so fun to read through. These fragrances bring back so many memories for people. It's delightful. Thanks for watching! 💖💖💖
I was wondering if you would leave Giorgio out of the list, haha!! I still remember the first time I smelled it in an American magazine and how I immediately became obsessed with it!! It was not sold in my country (Brazil), and I had to wait a couple of years until I went to London and was finally able to get a bottle! I totally agree with you, this and most of the other fragrances on your list are difficult to wear nowadays, when all you smell out there are gourmands or very watered down perfumes, but I LOVE how unapologetically powerful these 80's fragrances are!! To my taste, SOOOO much more interesting than the 2020-2021 creations. 😍
Hello!! Yes the 80s and 90s fragrances were strong and unapologetic! In your face and didn't care. Obnoxious in comparison to today's more muted fragrances FOR SURE. So glad you agree that Giorgio has a place among the 80s queens! I can only wear her on rare occasions today. She is POTENT! 🤣
I love the majority of the perfumes you mentioned! In fact, I find those Classics such as Shalimar and No.5 are far more interesting than the modern day sweets fruity perfumes. I love very sweet perfumes such as Lolita and Elie Saab but I always return to the Classics. Now my absolute fav is Chanel No. 5 EDP. Keep up the interesting reviews and stories🥰💕❤️
@@VeronicaSays Hi Veronica! Yes, I really love that one, it elevates me. The problem with the signature perfume is the definition, for example, if it's called your signature, so people recognize your from your smell. But does it mean your are not longer allowed to wear another perfume? Which means you do not have the same signature... Sorry about being boring, I am in a philosophical mood... Hahaha
@@mariaalmomani4280 I take signature to mean it's one you wear often and that people tend to associate with you. 🥰 Not necessarily one you wear everyday. 😉
I wore Paloma Picasso in the late 80s. I used every drop and have been thinking of repurchasing. I got so many compliments on this and only sprayed 2 sprays. It was strong. To me it smells like bug spray initially but then turns into a warm beautiful scent. I think I just talked myself into buying again. Hahaha
Love 80s fragrances! It took me many years to arrive here, as they take some getting used to and can be quite intimidating to unaccustomed noses, but once you learn to appreciate them, it's like discovering a whole new chapter in your perfume journey. Thanks Veronica 😍
I love me some 80's! I still have and enjoy many of these including Opium, Oscar and Shalimar. I used to douse myself in Obsession and go clubbing. You had to wear these powerhouses to combat all the cigarette smoke!
Givenchy's Ysatis. I didn't actually own it myself until 2002 but definitely one of my fave 80's scents. Giorgio too, just THE scent of the 80's. My mom couldn't afford "real" Giorgio but she always had the little knock off cans of "Primo" . Fun video, you got yourself a new Sub!
@@VeronicaSays You should pick up a sample of it, since you love Amarige. It's woodier and a bit stronger, but I adore it. It does tend to be a "Love it or hate it" perfume. My mom STILL buys those Primo cans! I asked her about it yesterday and she brought it right out. They still sell them at Walmart and everything. I've been thinking of getting her a "real" bottle for Christmas.
I'm 53 so the 80s is a very nostalgic period for me too. The fragrances that stand out and scent that period of my teenage life are Chanel No.19 edp, Fendi and Byzance, and a tad later, Safari. Chanel 19 edp in the beautiful crystal splash bottle was my first 'proper' fragrance gifted to me by my mum around the age of 18. It was my first love and I've loved it ever since. Amazing fragrances from that time of the late 70s to early 90s. 😍
Aaahhh yes!!! Vanderbilt, omg! Forgot about including that one. So Obsession was a no for you, huh? 😁 My husband does NOT like it at all. 🤣 You'll see Escape in my upcoming 90s video. 😉
Wow, I guess Escape was a 90s release. Those years are all a blur 😂. Trying to think what else were my primaries back then... I wore the heck out of Jardins de Bagatelle and Tatiana. Wasn’t an ‘accumulator’ back then, just stuck to a few. 🤣
I came here for your opinion on Knowing 😂 it's something i blind bought and funny enough is growing on me. One spray lasts all day. It's for when you need a boost of confidence, the kind of moxie that comes with shoulder pads! It's great.
I was wearing ysl paris and og opium through the 80s. Also ysl jazz and rive gauche I love private Collection and I have the new version. Its just as nice but a little lighter
Wow! Thanks for bringing back all the memories! I wore a lot of those fragrances at one time. I can’t believe I used Knowing so much! I was complimented very often with that one. Also wore Eternity, Calyx, Lauren was one of my favorites. I wore Obsession in my early 20’s even layered it with the perfumed body cream. I was bold! Anyway, I really enjoyed this video. Thank you! 😊💗😎
Hello fellow 80s lover!! Awesome! So glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Body cream too? 🤯 Whew!! You were BOLD and smelling good back in the day 🥰🥰🥰
Wow…you brought back memories, however, they’re from my father. He’s the one that ingrained this love of fragrance. He was also ahead of the curve and wore fragrances he loved regardless of who it was marketed towards. So yes, Picasso, Oscar de la Renta, White diamonds were among those he had in his collection and he loved to layer. My personal favorites were Bijan, Ombré Rose, Avon-Sweet honesty, among others but this by far a favorite. It’s hard to pinpoint when in time they were a presence as the 80s rolled right into the 90s for me. And yes, everything CK. To this day I still have a large collection of CK that includes Eternity and a few flankers, CKin2u, euphoria, obsession, escape…so many. YSL Parisienne and babydoll. RL Lauren…..wow! Thx for the trip down memory lane. ♥️♥️
Hi there! I love that your dad had such an extensive collection! In that day and time anything more than 2 or 3 fragrances was a big collection. 🥰 I still have Bijan and Bijan Nude, although I rarely wear them. Ombré Rose and Avon - yes!! I love pouring over the Avon catalogue when mom brought it home from work. Such a little escape! 🥰🥰🥰
Enjoyed your video! My favorite perfumes of the 80s were Obsession and Poison ( even though I owned Beautiful and Paloma Picasso). We might have crossed paths in the Bronx! I went to Fordham and I was there in the awesome 80s!!! 😁👍
Hey there! Well how about that? I've been on Fordham's campus but also shopped on Fordham Road as a kid all the time! I know that road like the back of my hand. 😊 Thanks so much for watching! Maybe we DID cross paths! 💖
I wore Lou Lou in the late 80’s and I remember over spraying this one. I had a job Canvassing and fundraising with the group and I guess I would call it my first signature scent. Of your list I still wear Eternity. It’s got to be a favourite floral of mine that so fresh too. Lauren by Ralph Lauren reminds me of my high school years and I love that Rose, sage and Moss combination and so I recently repurchased it for nostalgic reasons. I seams to smell better after aged a bit. Back then the samples they gave away in Department stores were very generous!
They sure DID give generous samples! I did door-to-door canvassing and fundraising in the 90s, how about that! 🥰 Lauren - I felt all grown up wearing it. 💖💖💖
I was in my late teens in the 80s. I went to the movies with a guy that I was crazy about so I wore some of my mom's Coco Chanel. After he hugged me goodnight he said my neck smelled so good it made his legs weak. One of my favorite memories!
I. Love. THIS!!! Great memory! That guy had great taste (and so did you for wearing Coco in your teens!) 🥰🥰🥰
When I think 80’s perfumes Poison comes straight to my mind!
For SURE!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Exactly! I just commented on that 😂 my mom wore it!
I remember all of them ...i love perfumes youth dew was my moms fave scent ...
Dr. Geeta - that fragrance is still available for sale and rather affordable! Check fragrancenet.com for it, or even Amazon.
Thanks.
Giorgio was one of My mother’s signature fragrance… no mater what people thinks, Giorgio was unique… my mother love it ( RIP)
Awww what a lovely memory. 💖💖💖
That obsession bottle was from the 90s I loved obsession opium Paloma Picasso escape know white linen poison and I still wear eternity 😊
I was a teenager in the 80's and am not ashamed to say my favorite perfume was Original Charlie , I still wear it in the winter, and my beautiful mother wore Estee Lauder Youth Dew.
Oh yes! Charlie and Youth Dew were so big then. Thanks so much for watching! 💖💖💖
@VeronicaSays I used to love, love, love Youth Dew when I was younger but I just can't wear it now anymore, ..but I do like the Youth Dew Amber Nude it's still around and is still very good.
But I remember Charlie my Mom used to have (believe it or nor in the ki
tchen cabinet😂 but when I was a teenager and going off to school,I would grab the bottle and and spritz it on!
And then my Mom would drive me and my friend Ellen (we all called her Ellie though)...and we'd hit all of the stores and spritz on almost everything, and so when my Mom came back to pick us up..
We smelled like a French brothel 🤣
@chancycat9822 ah the brothel smell! 😂😂😂 Oh my. Visiting fragrance counters in the 80s!
Charlie was popular in the 90's too. My best friend loved it. I loved tribe!
Oh yes Giorgio I still wear that I used to wear that in high school and Junior high School
I wore it in junior high school also! 😁😁😁
My mom wore Oscar. I remember her coming into my room before she left for work to give my a hug and kiss. She smelled of Oscar with coffee breath. ❤️
Awww what a memory 🙏💖🥰
Ooh Giorgio! Thát was really the scent we all loved in the ‘80’s, we wore it to school on a regular day, those poor teachers. 🤣 And we didnt spray it only once… nooooo we took a bottle with us to school to spray halfway through the day. 🙃 I really feel sorry for all my classmates. 😂
Yesss! We fogged out the whole classroom with the fragrance! 😂😂😂
Giorgio Beverly Hills was THE perfume of the 80s. It was the BR540 of the day! People either loved it or hated it 🤣
That's so right Christina!! I love that comparison! Awesome 😄😄😄
Yes.....remember how popular it was in early 1980's.....and also Ralph Lauren came out in early 80's!
Christian Dior Poison was up there too ! Banned from Restaurants ! I absolutely loved it ….it was a powerhouse with a gorgeous Plum as a main note …
Yes. I smelled it everywhere. The HSgirls wanted it so badly but it was expensive.
I love Giorgio I still wear it today I used to wear it in junior high and in high school and all through the Halls you would smell Miss Carmella wearing Giorgio
I love it! You were bold then and are still bold now! Wepa! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh I forgot about Amarige. I wore that in college in the 90s.
OMG!!! Jean Nate, that one is a classic.
I started high school in 1982 and my fav was Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. I used it all the way to first year of my University career. Then I moved to Anais Anais from Cacharel. I still love both of them.
Both were HUGE back in the day! 👍👍👍
I was born in 85! I remember seeing Liz Claiborne perfumes and Exclamation on my Mom’s dresser. Sweet Memories ☺️
Yessss Sheila!! Those were both big at the time. The memories are amazing. 🥰🥰🥰
I wore that Liz Claiborne fragrance as a teen.
Halston & Ysatis were huge for me in the 80s!
Hi Barb! I didn't wear either of these but they definitely belong in the iconic 80s perfumes category! 👍👍👍
I love Halston and was introduced to it when I was going to text school in Mississippi and hope it's not discontinued.
@@AnnaGladden-z3s not discontinued!
Poison took over a room 🤯 smelled it all the time on my babysitter (I was probably 7 or 8)😳😳💜
My apologies to your 7 and 8 year old self! 😂 It's such a strong fragrance.
I was born in 82. All I can think about is Malibu Musk, Exclamation and Baby Soft.
About 5 months ago I bought oscar. It was hard to wrap my nose around but now I love it and I like to layer it with Estee Lauder pleasures. Again, I am glad to live by myself where I can enjoy them as much as I want.
Great layering idea! 😲😲😲
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Oh my, Giorgio WAS everywhere, wasn't it? 😂
My mom always wore Obsession so that is a scent I definitely associate with her ❤️
Ahhh I bet she smelled lovely. 💖💖💖
I used to wear Obsession in the 1980's also..I remember it was my first really expensive perfume and I loved it!
Hi Laura! 💖 Welcome to the channel! Yes, looks like you've been enjoying these beauties for quite a while 🥰🥰🥰
I'm from Brazil and in the 80's having imported fragrances was only for the wealthy.
Wore Anais Anais.
Patchouli and other types of oils were HUGE in this time period! 💯
My Mother still wears Shalimar. Timeless.
Wonderful! It's an iconic fragrance. 💖
My mother wore Opium and Poison in the 80's when I was a kid. I'd "sneak" some sprays sometimes and obviously it was clear to the entire house that I had been into her perfume.
🤣🤣🤣 same here! I would sneak some wears of certain fragrances and there was no denying who was the guilty party
As I creep to my birthday 🥳 I was feeling the theme for this video. Thank you. But when I think of the 80s, I automatically remember Halston. The amber colored one in a unique, for the time, shaped bottle. This is what I think of when I think boss lady fragrance.
Ah yes! Halston was and still is a classic!!
GIORGIO...I STILL LOVE IT, AND THE MEMORIES...A BOMBSHEL EXPERIENCE! I have a tiny bottle.
The ORIGINAL Chloe by Lagerfeld was HUGE in '87! It was my absolute fave as a 14 yr old! Also, "Red" was HUGE for mature women!
Hi Melanie! 💖 Thanks for watching! I don't have memories of Chloe - thanks so much for adding it to the comments here. Which Red are you thinking of - who made it?
@VeronicaSays I remember that the orginal Chloe was big on the tuberose.
Chloe and Anis Anis were light and flowery. Very good.
Hi Crissylee, my fellow '75er!! These were the powerhouse fragrances of that era. Glad you still wear Shalimar and Obsession!! 🥳🥳🥳
Love this video! Estée Lauder’s Beautiful was another beast mode classic. It has been my mom’s signature scent for decades so it will always have a special place in my heart 🥰
Hi there! Yes Beautiful is... beautiful! A warm and sensuous perfume. Thanks so much for watching! 🥰🥰🥰
My signature scent and I am one year younger than veronica here I turned 4 in 1980 and discovered Beautiful in the early 2000s
Beautiful was amazing. I think my ex fell in love with me because of Beautiful. Lol
One of the only fragrances that stayed on all day and night. Never had to carry it in my purse to refresh.
I miss that!
Those were the "great perfume" days! 😁👌
Obsession WAS everywhere for sure! I remember the guys wearing Drakkar, Palo, Nautica and more. What fun! 💖💖💖
No, there was never a Lancome factory here (Poland). My mum used to buy Lancome mascara in Moscow, haha
@@unfadewhatfades oh sorry, I think I misread your comment. 😊
I'm terribly sorry, I wanted to reply to your viewer's comment. You understood me perfectly well. Technology, you know😆
I think of Anais Anais by Cacharel
Oh yeah!! Although I discovered that one more in the early 90s and wore it to DEATH. WHOA!!!
Woooooo!!! That classroom must have smelled 🤯🤯🤯. Yeah, that would not go over well in an office setting today - no way! 🤣🤣🤣
Well, an only girl's school...
Yes!! Totally beastmode!! And I forgot about having to combat the cigarette smoke - good point! 👍😂😉 Thanks for watching!
OMG... That's right! Restaurants with smoking and non-smoking sections. Definite childhood memory.
Right? People even smoked on planes.

Oh how wonderful! I'm glad Paloma Picasso is suiting you! And yes, you're lucky to be able to enjoy your fragrances in peace! 😁
I was teen in the 80s and my favorite perfumes were 273 by Fred Hayman (1989), Cristalle by Chanel (1974) and Liz Claiborne (1986).
Hi Dede!! A bunch of folks commented below about Liz Claiborne - you are not alone! 🥰🥰🥰 I remember Fred Hayman too! Memories!!
Haha!
YES 273 ❤️
This is quite the list! Thanks for adding them. Yes, I've heard of and sniffed many of these. 🥰💖
Eeee!!! 😁😁😁
Love, love Paloma! Your mom has great taste. 👌
Ah yes! These are such classics. The nostalgia they evoke is tremendous. I have some wonderful memories like this also. 💖💖💖
Obsession is *still* my jam. It smells like a sweet witches brew to me.
Oh wow!! I love that, Missy!! I'm going to sniff it again and think of sweet witches brew!! 🥰
Hi Missy! If you ever want to shuffle laterally, just a liiiiiiitle bit to the left of Obsession then may I suggest the following few fragrances?
1. Eleonore by Rance
2. Ambre Premier by Jovoy
3. Under My Skin by Francesca Bianchi
4. Ambre Loup by Rania J
They're all in the vague realm of Obsession and Shalimar, with the Bianchi one being by far the dirtiest, most obscenely explicit post-coital fragrance I have EVER smelled.
That's quite an extensive list! Thanks so much for sharing. 💖💖💖
My gosh. I remember my mum wearing all of these !! She wore Oscar right up until she passed recently. I immediately purchased a couple of bottles xxx
Oh wow Justine! A big hug to you. I know what you mean. So many perfumes that I associate with people, some who have passed on. 😔😔😔
Thanks for adding Ruffles and Vanderbilt to the list! Yes, I used to spray myself down, too 😂 Those were different times, for sure. 💖
Lou Lou was my first perfume purchase back in the 80s as a young adult. I was in love with the whole campaign centred around the actress Louise Brooks and the original blue dabber bottle with the minaret type lid. I can't believe I wore this, it is so potent but beautiful and very unique.
Hi Frances! It was definitely potent and unique. A staple of the time period! Thanks for sharing 💖🥰

I'm glad you cover perfumes from other decades in the decades in which these were popular. Really accurate. I appreciate your reviews.

AND- My mother wore Opium and Shalimar 🥰
Hi Dana! Yes, the wonder years 🥰🥰🥰 Our moms, grandmothers, and aunts wore all the classic powerhouses in that decade. Thank you for watching!! 💖💖💖
Yes! The striped awning! 🥰🥰🥰 Glad you enjoyed the video. Can't talk about fragrances in this decade without Poison! No way! 😂

Awesome video!!
Aw shoot!! Aqua Net and Jheri products! 🥳 Giorgio is sooooooo 80s all the way!! 💖💖💖💖
Poision was my moms jam! I still love Poision now on rare occasions.😆
Right?! You have to be in the mood for it for sure!
LOVED this video!!!!! How about Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt...I even wore the blue jeans. I just subscribed! ❤
I remember Vanderbilt and Jordache blue jeans. I thought I was CUTE! Yes Gloria Vanderbilt was in the mix for sure. 🥰🥰🥰
Calyx! Oh my! I worked for Prescriptives when it was launched. What a fun time I had! All I have to do is hear the name and I immediately smell that grapefruit top note. :) Thanks for the video.
Hi Christie! Thanks so much for watchng and sharing your experience at Prescriptives! 💖💖💖
I love Knowing and I’m intrigued by Magie Noire. I would really like to see if I would like it. I’ve heard it’s a Halloween fragrance.
Hi Brooke! 💖🥰 I can easily see it being used on or around Halloween night!! 🎃
Love the 80’s! Coco Chanel and Poison by Dior are the 2 scents that remind me of the 80’s
Hi Katia, yes for SURE!! Thanks for watching 💖💖💖
@@VeronicaSays omgggg my family and I loved the Carousel of time…my kids and I still sing the theme song ❤️
@@katiaruffin4906 it's a great big beautiful tomorrow!! I sing it all the time too!
Hi Maria! 💖 Thanks so much for watching. Listen, it's hard to go wrong with Chanel No 5 as your signature! 👍👍👍
Hahaha
I love this! 😂 And yes, the initial spray makes you question your life choices, but the dry down is where the beauty emerges. 💖💖💖
Love 80s fragrances! It took me many years to arrive here, as they take some getting used to and can be quite intimidating to unaccustomed noses, but once you learn to appreciate them, it's like discovering a whole new chapter in your perfume journey. Thanks Veronica 😍
Absolutely! 80s fragrances can be overwhelming (and so can many vintage fragrances overall). New chapters in the journey - love that concept! 💖💖💖
Hello veronica, i use white linen 🤗 just don't spray to much hahaha 💃
Hi Eleonora! 💖 That's exactly right! 🥰 Spray lightly! 🤣
I love me some 80's! I still have and enjoy many of these including Opium, Oscar and Shalimar. I used to douse myself in Obsession and go clubbing. You had to wear these powerhouses to combat all the cigarette smoke!
Hi there! Many agree with you in these comments. The powerhouses helped to combat the cigarette smoke!! 👍👍👍
Charles of the Ritz was my fave in the 80s. I wish there was something that smells like it
Hi there! 🥰 What do you remember that one smelling like?
Givenchy's Ysatis. I didn't actually own it myself until 2002 but definitely one of my fave 80's scents. Giorgio too, just THE scent of the 80's. My mom couldn't afford "real" Giorgio but she always had the little knock off cans of "Primo" . Fun video, you got yourself a new Sub!
Hi Cassi! I've never tried Ysatis (that I remember) but it definitely deserves a mention. I love the story of your mom buying a Giorgio dupe! 🥰💖
And thank you for subbing! 💕💕💕
Good old Chanel No 19! I need to pull my bottle of it out this spring. And Fendi - yes! 💖💖💖
These were from my day. You picked all that I wore. How about Fendi? I still love these. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
Hi Vicky!! Oh yes, Fendi! I didn't have a bottle but I know which one you mean. Glad you enjoyed the video! 💖💖💖
Chantilly, Charlie, Halston, imari,Jovan musk, lady stetson, loves baby soft, verve, wind song
Ahhh yes! What a lineup! 🥰🥰🥰
Loved this! Obsession was everywhere and I couldn’t tolerate it. My mom wore Vanderbilt a lot. I was mostly wearing Cristalle and Escape.
@@shellyb3662 yes, me either. I had maybe 2 or 3 at any given time and wore the heck out of those. But I raised my mom's collection often! 😂
I came here for your opinion on Knowing 😂 it's something i blind bought and funny enough is growing on me. One spray lasts all day. It's for when you need a boost of confidence, the kind of moxie that comes with shoulder pads! It's great.
Absolutely! Knowing definitely has some serious moxie! Thanks for watching 🥰💖🥰💖
OMG girl!!!! I have most of them, and yes I use them now😂specially poison, white diamonds, complement getters, love the 80s,am older than you💕🌹
Hi Yvelise! Love that name. 🥰 And love that you are still rocking 80s fragrances. 😁😁😁
I was wearing ysl paris and og opium through the 80s. Also ysl jazz and rive gauche I love private Collection and I have the new version. Its just as nice but a little lighter
Hi there! 💖 Those are definitely classic 80s scents! Thanks for watching 🥰
I wore Paloma Picasso in the 90’s and loved it! I remember it being sweet and heady. Not sure how I would feel about it now lol
Did you??? I think my memory plays tricks on me. I need to just try it again!! 🥳
I remember all these perfums i loved Christian Dior the purple bottle im 61 now how time flyes indeed
Hello lovely Brigitte! Do you remember what the Dior was called? Are you referring to Poison by chance? Yes, time flies for sure. Scary in some ways!
Yes IT was Dior poison IT was a lovely perfum
🤯 Whew!! You were BOLD and smelling good back in the day 🥰🥰🥰
Calyx was my jam in college! I still have a bottle.
I was born in 1980 so yes love the 80s!!!!! I own a handful of 80s frags.
Hi Cortney! Ah yes, a fellow 80s fragrance lover!! 😊
Yes, Coco Chanel! Love this real classic 80s 👍😍
Thank you so much!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Veronica Says Take care!! 😁👍
Loved this video! Coco is a beautiful perfume.
Thank you so much! Yes Coco is special. 🥰🥰🥰
