This is one of the best explanations I've ever seen about the differences between the categories- I've always wanted to learn this and want to learn more! - also what does creamy mean? And can you do a video on what certain notes smell like - Heliotrope, Tonka vs vanilla, aldehydes etc
I love fruity, fresh, tropical scents. Peach is my go to. It may sound weird but the smell of peach makes me feel clean and soft. It even matches my personality.
Ooh, I love soft oriental, oriental, fruity, chypre, and every type of floral is lovely to me. I love feminine woodsy notes in fragrances too, but not sure if I qualify for liking that scent category.
Fruity floral is my go-to but I’ve been loving scents like Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet and all of the La Vie Est Belle range! I’m expanding my palette but still tend to stick with youthful and feminine scents (I can’t handle too aquatic, fresh, woody or spicy scents)
Thank you Soki! This helps me out a ton. I only shop from home for perfume because there are no big malls in my town so it's always blind buys. Thank you for breaking this down in an easy way to remember, love all your perfume videos!
This was an excellent explanation of the fragrance families, especially because of the examples you gave. My current signature scent is YSL's Libre EDP. Even though it is categorized as an Aromatic/Fougere because of the lavender, it also has floral notes, citrus notes, and the spice of vanilla. On my skin the notes blend really well. The only problem is I can only spray one or two sprays because it is such a beast.
This is a very helpful video. I've been wondering about layering with some scents to improve a miscalculation in a certain perfume purchase. Too sharp of a scent from one cologne and trying to temper it with another. Thanks for all your videos! Love your explanations.
This is such a great video! I would enjoy any similar videos where you help us beginning fragrance hobbists learn the hows and whys behind our favorite perfumes! I subscribed recently after watching a few videos and finding a scent sister! As you name some of your favorite perfumes, more often than not I'm like "me too, same here"! Love your channel 😍
I like Oriental! I am obsessed right now with a tobacco rose leather scent called Black Stone and a very sweet amber smell. The one that's subtle that I would wear everyday is a green tea scent mixed with spice flavors. It smells like sunshine on skin. Thanks for this video!
I’m an oriental kind of girl !! 🧕🏼🥰 Maybe the fact that all my life I’ve smelt Oud/Incense/Frankincense type aromas around my mother & our home 🏠 Thank you for this detailed info, this was very helpful ! 😘👋🏽👋🏽
Those are my favorites too. I live in Italy but sometimes i would like to live in one middle eastern country, just to smell those fantastic intense smells... my collection is pretty full of heavy ones 'cause i like to evoke in my mind those beautiful places 👋🏽
@@begoodtoyourself9591 i have been there many times actually 5 times only in Dubai, and one time in abu dhabi, oman and iran 😃 incredible cities to discover 🥰

I love your videos! I found you recently when I was researching Chanel No 5 and got hooked on your videos. I’m a certified Sommelier and smelling wine is very similar to how you describe layers of scents in perfume. You’ve opened a whole new interest for me into perfumes! I’ve purchased some of the perfumes you’ve recommended and can’t thank you enough! Keep up the awesome work! Much love from America 💕
I think my preference is very diverse. But my top fave and kinda like a go-to scent is a combo of fruity or soft floral. But basically I choose notes based on my mood, the weather, the occasion.
Thank you for doing this. My nose likes a lot of scents. I am all over the fragrance wheel, I like Mon Guerlain, MFK Rouge 540, Robert Graham’s Fortitude, Byredo 1996, Parfums de Marley Delina and Jessica Simpson Fancy Love. Sometimes it depends on what my head can take. Some perfume gives me headaches, others go sour on my skin. I just don’t know... today I wore Fendi and noticed it’s sharpness for the first time in the years I’ve owned it.
You look beautiful in these colors Today,Soki! 🌺🌸 Such a interesting video,im All ears to learn!😄 I love flower/fruity..and with pathouli in its Heaven and for Work i Will choose something water/citrus (i Really Love these..so fresh and nice "for Everyone" Oriental..No Thank You,i cant wear Them and i dont like or feel comfortable with the scent, they are def. Sooo good/sexy/warm for others but not on me😅😅
My favorites are the pure floral and citrus categories 🌸💐🍊 That was a really helpful breakdown of fragrance categories, especially for the oriental fragrances, which I'd never heard of as a category before your videos. Thanks and great video, as always!
Great informative video! I love fruity florals..warm as well as bright depending on the season..pear and necterine, some berries as well as sweet citrus..typically with white florals and fresh rose😊
Can you make a video explaining in depth the differences between the types of florals, types of fruity notes, etc? They almost all sound good but it would be nice to get some more guidance towards exactly which types of these florals, fruits, overall notes (caramel? vanilla?) work best for which kinds of people/vibes.
This was such a fantastic explanation of the fragrance wheel particularly with examples of perfumes on the market 👏 👍! My mum's mid 70's and used to wear youth dew the bottle took me right back....In my younger days I worked for Alive Promotions & Marketing in Australia on the Oscar de La Renta counter in their David Jones 😀 💜
Thank you so much for such an informative video. the moment you gave examples of floral scent ( j’dore and Daisy) I knew I’m a floral gal, those are my fav 2 fragrance and I often use these two as a reference when I explain my fragrance preference to the sales person at fragrance counter. I try to like aromatics scent but I just couldn’t, maybe during a rainy season, aromatics scent would be more bearable for me ? I’m not a huge fan of oriental scent but I love hypnotic poison , there is just something in the juice draw me into this perfume, I always spray one spray instead of my normal 3 sprays, because it can get quite overpowering
Soki, I absolutely love your videos they are so informative. I love fruity floral and orientals. I struggle with woody and grassy scents. Thanks for the video.
I loved this video! I think I'm more of a water girl but I love gourmands, fruity, floral and woodsy. I do not like oud or anything too strong and bitter. I think I can find a perfume in each range that I'd love though because I'm such a complex person. I like a little of everything. Lol
Really helpful. I have and like some of those that you have mentioned. Daisy, panthere...and I have owned youth dew but I agree with you, it was too much👌👌
I know of the colour wheel, but this one. Thank you 🙏 What??? Clinique and YSL libre are both aromatic?? I loved the Clinique, never bought it because it wad too strong and then I buy YSL libre and I dont like it. And La Panthera and Aura mossy?? I am in shock.😃😃🤪
Unless I am misremembering this, I think the Gap in the 90s had a line of perfume and one of them in the line smelled just like fresh grass, maybe was even called something grass but they discontinued eons ago. Anyone else remember this???
I love gourmand particularly cupcake, marshmallow, whipped cream fragrances followed by fruity and citrus scents. Florals are okay as long as it’s not too powdery. Absolutely cannot stand oud and woods scents 🤣
My mom loves aromatic elixir from Clinique she has been wearing it for years and her clothes smell of it. I love it but I can see how if you don’t like it I tight get on your nerves
Would you please review Ellis Brooklyn fragrances? I tried some a sephora today and was totally wowed and it takes a lot for me to like a perfume. I would love to hear your opinion and break down
Wouldn't the light blue be in the citrus group? I always smell mandarine and lemon, while in the aquatic i would put the Acqua di gioia by GA. Don't you think?
Its interesting to me that Aromatic, Oceanic, and Gourmand are not considered their own sections of the fragrance wheel
You are sooooo sweet, I think of cotton candy every time I watch your videos, sweet and colourful and fluffy, all in a good way 🤗🤗

Where would all the sweet and gourmand perfumes situated?
It depends on what type of sweet. Fruity sweet with fruits then gourmand ones more towards oriental :)
