    I'm a man, I wear No.19, and I'm proud of it. I find it specially suited for difficult negotiations and days in Court.

    • @armandoguillen9214
      @armandoguillen9214 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @M D Yes, I'm a lawyer. Even if I have little care for people's opinion on perfume, it is important to consider what kind of situations you will be facing. I prefer cold and bitter fragrances such as greens or chypres when in court, specially if it's the first hearing. Those are great if you want to appear aloof. Soapy, clean scents for meetings at the office and spicy orientals when closing negotiations or whenever I want to present myself as friendly, with an inviting attitude. Technically speaking, your perfume can send a message, just like your attire and your body language do. Just be careful with the amount of sprays, as you do not want to offend anyone, let alone a judge.

    • @armandoguillen9214
      @armandoguillen9214 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @M D I would suggest Chanel's No.19 and Cristalle EDP. Both very serious, aloof, and assertive. Uptight, if you will. Coriandre by Jean Couturier is an elegant spicy rose chypre, but somehow refreshing. It reads as polished, well educated but not easy to decipher, and it is a very affordable fragrance. Prada has plenty of clean, soapy yet smart and interesting options, such as Infusion d'Iris, and Ambre pour homme could be an interesting choice for a woman. Serge Lutens L'Orpheline is a cold, poetic yet profoundly melancholic incense deprived of sweetness. It does sit very close to the skin and will never bother anyone. It is what I would wear if I was mourning for an injustice.
      If the tone is a bit more relaxed, I would suggest a floral. Perhaps a carnation or an orange blossom.

    I love your review of my most favourite perfume of all time -Chanel 19, with a sadness however. Yes it is still a beautiful fragrance but I have worn this since the 1980's and if you love this fragrance now , believe me - the original and earlier formulations would have blown you away.

    I knew I had worn Chanel No.19 when I was a lot younger, but I could not remember what it smelled like until you described it. And the memory of the scent exploded in my brain. I literally could smell that scent in my head and that was from probably close to 40 years ago! I really need to get some and smell it again because I think it would be such a fabulous summer scent. I'll have to see if it smells the same now, after, as you said, probably several reformulations. Thanks for the memories!

    The parfum version of 19 is what got me into Chanel fragrances. I received a parfum coffret as a gift. Never cared for No 5 until I tried the parfum. The No 19 parfum to me is the most like a Chypre. Technically its not until you get to the drydown, but it is fantastic! Lots of Galbanum and Iris are there, and the drydown is a little musky with oakmoss, vetiver and cedar. More green than floral. More dry than sweet. I agree about the dauber style bottles though. I did knock over one of the bottles and lose all its contents. Luckily it was Allure, so no great loss.

    This was my 1st “good” perfume. It was supposed to be my birthday gift when I turned 19, but my mom got it for me at 17 since I would be graduating from high school, and senior prom was coming up. I had the brushed sliver refill with the gold band. My sister threw it away because it was empty. 🤦🏾‍♀️
    I never thought of it as bitter, but I loved how airy it was. I haven’t worn it in 30 years, but went through 2-3 bottles. I’m not sure if it was the perfume or the toilette.

    My mother has always been a Guerlain lady wearing sometimes Chanel but mainly Guerlain. All of my brothers have their own special fragrances a scent that came out around the time when one of my brothers was born. Mine is Samsara 😀. But her choice when she wants to wear Chanel in No 5 and No19. On the other hand my godmother is a Chanel girl she has been wearing No19 edp for ages...... And every day even if she is at home and cooking beef stew..... No19 is iconic and great. Sometimes I steal it from my mom and put in it the car on a small leather patch to scent the car

    I have all four versions of Chanel No. 19, including a tiny bottle of the extract. I have had three of them for years and the more recent Poudre version when it first came out. The Poudre version is my very favorite and if I had to pick a signature scent, it would be Chanel No. 5 Poudre. Thanks for this video and especially for mentioning the Poudre, which seems to be quite ignored even by Chanel lovers, who seem to prefer the extract or EDP, but once the Poudre came out, that is the one I prefer.

    I am not male and Chanel Nº 19 EDT is the only bottle of Chanel I own. And it rocks. It will rock even more when spring and summer arrive... Some "youngsters" I've been around tend not to like it but what do they know?... one day I will try the EDP.

      Still haven't splashed out for the EDP and now prices are even higher...I used Coco Noir lotion under Chanel Nº 19 EDT today. Very interesting combination. But it toned down the sharpness a lot.

    I'm male and I'm obsessed with No. 19 - particularly the Poudre and pure parfum variations. The latter is absolutely glorious and I can't get enough of it. The green notes are intense, but it is so smooth and perfectly blended. And (bonus for me) is has NO lily of the valley accord kicking about. Absolute perfection. My No. 1 (see what I did there?).

    I got no. 19 at age of 19 and it formed my perfume preferences. It is always a gold standard for me. In terms of prominent Galbanum note I consider Bel Respiro as a very close relative to no.19. As well as Goodsir's Nuit de Bakelite is more like a contemporary crazy granddaughter.

    This is a spectacular perfume and the best of Chanel. I sincerely hope they don’t mess up the formula and start filling it up with iso-e or similar aromachems that Chanel likes so much. That would be a sacrilege! Like you Sebastian this was my point of reference for galbanum and sparked my interest in other galbanum perfumes.

Never got the perfume concentration for the same reason as you. Not sure it’s a must have. Have you tried Cristalle EDP from the same line? Also green and feminine. I would recommend it for younger people, as n°19 is more difficult to wear very young.

    Thank you! My NY resolution was to wear No 19 again as I haven't worn it in a dozen or more years and it used to be my signature scent. I was so excited to purchase the EDT on New Years Day and begin my return to what I love so deeply. My birthday is also on the 19th and my mother originally used to give this to me as a gift on all special occasions. She has since passed, so I feel as though she was turning my nose in the No 19 direction once again. I feel so rich and divine wearing it.

    Seriously i am a big fan of Chanel No. 19 EDP and Chanel Cristalle EDP (both are luxurious green notes from Chanel) more than the over-rated Chanel No. 5 which i own a bottle too... 😘

    I have worn Chanel 19 for 30 years. I am in love with this fragrance! I now use the Eau de Parfum version, having previously used the Eau de Toilette. I have a bottle on my countertop and a spare in the drawer! I hope to never be without this fragrance. I absolutely love it!

    You are reminding me I probably need this!
    Update, 10 minutes later: I am so bad! I just ordered the EDP from Mercari- pretty good deal.. I chose the straight up EDP but I was also considering the Poudré. Hope that was the right choice, at least for now:-)

    I'm an addict of chanel no. 19, can't get enough of this smell. I am a male and wear it so often. I love this perfume it's so underrated summer perfume that suprisingly no one talks about. You have to try this once in a lifetime and you'll raise lots of eyebrows in a good way ! it has good performance and sillage. Highly recommended.

    No.19 is my signature fragrance. I’ve worn it most of my life. The EDP is closer to the original ‘70s formula, and my favorite concentration. I’m not a fan of Poudre. I don’t understand why, but I’ve had other women tell me it smells like bug spray. It develops very powdery on me.

    I like it, I smell the vetiver more though, I prefer the Poudre. I'm going to get a full bottle of the Poudre.

    Thank you for showcasing No 19. It doesn't get as much love but as some others but I think it's awesome. I have a vintage edt in the grey casing and it holds it still smells refreshing and holds it's own in comparison with the modern poudre.

    Green Perfumes are my favorite! I love all the iterations of NO. 19 and have been wearing it since 1976. I would love to see you review more green perfumes - it seems to me that genre is often overlooked. Green Spell from Eris is a phenomenal new extremely green fragrance and I'd love to know what you think of that one.

      Vent Vert (the original) was the most wonderful green fragrance ever!
      And then it was reformulated and ruined.
      Why do they do that to classic masterpieces?

    I bought the Chanel 19 EDP and like it for the spring. ... it’s not usually something that I’d gravitate to as an everyday but wanted to try something different. Most Chanel is long lasting for me, minus the Chance collection... the 19 is definitely earthy as you mentioned. It dries down softly and a lil powdered like you mentioned. Glad you did this video! And I can also see it being unisex too!

    I wire Chanel 19 in the 80ies and now have rediscovered this fragrance for me. I also recently bought Rive Gauche by YSL and Shocking You by Schiaparelli which also were very famous in the 90ies. They smell kind of old-fashioned I think it's the aldehyde but I still love them - they are great.

    Usually the eau de Parfum is better and last longer. But not always. Which one does everyone like better? The edt or edp?

  • @londonlady4521
    @londonlady4521 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I must correct you - the eau de parfum was created in the late 1980s and not 1971. It was not created by Henri Robert as it was introduced after his death (he died in 1987). I believe the eau de parfum was introduced in 1988 or 1989. The extract or the pure parfum and the eau de toilette were created by Henri Robert in 1970/1971. I've been buying Chanel No 19 since 1990, and in my opinion it's far superior to its sister No 5.

    I love N19...I discovered it a few years ago when I was looking for a scent that was launched in 1970, my birth year. I have both the edt and poudre, and poudre is my favorite! Love your videos!

    I like the eau de Parfum Poudrée more than No 5, Coco Mademoiselle EDP and the Chance line. The one I like more then No 19 Poudrée is Coromandel from the Exclusive Line. Thank you for that interesting video with the differences between this three.

    Hey all, when you buy a backup bottle (without opening and spraying it), how Much long can we stock this bottle before the scent turns to bad ?

    • @olil5132
      @olil5132 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, you can keep it as long as you want. Chanel bottles rarely go bad. I have some from 70s and 80s, and they all are good. If you keep it in box and away from heat, it won’t spoil.

    Wow! I love 19 so much, but have only ever had edp decants and haven't worn it in a few years. Somehow I had no idea that there was a poudre version. I have to get my hands on this immediately! I've never smelled 19 on a man, but it would be incredible. Very unisex.
