Double Ditto Brothers. Today is my 71st birthday If you are like me, this music takes me back to my early teen age years. This was the kind of music that shaped a generation. One of my early favorites was "Rhythm of the Rain by the Cascades" Thanks Jay and Amber for reacting to all kinds of music. To be perfectly honest, there is some music that I have to skip over because it just isn't me. But I have followed you from Jays doing reactions by himself to the first song the two of you reacted to as a couple, and I know that eventually you will get around to some earlier music. Big Kudos to both of you and your kids.

Thankfully, we have TH-cam where we can look up all the music we missed. One thing that TH-cam cannot reproduce is the culture shock that usually accompanied such musical releases. I was in elementary school when Michael Jackson's Thriller was released. I was only vaguely familiar with popular music having been raised on John Denver, Elton John, Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, Barry Manillow, etc. When Thriller came out it was everywhere. My school PE class performed a dance to "Beat It"; my sister bought the record album; we recorded The Making Of Thriller TV special off of TV and watched it frequently (it might have been the thing that introduced me to "Weird" Al.) I became pretty familiar with several songs from Thriller... and that was without ever listening to the radio! I can't imagine the culture shock when the Beatles arrived.

@@justlinsu I see your point. However, the Olympics is all about forging unity between nations and think the words reflect that. Growing up in the 60s The Seekers were my favourite group. Judith's voice was and remains the best I've ever heard and their harmonies were just beautiful. They split up way too early because Judith wanted to pursue a solo career. Despite the stress of the break-up, (the boys did not want to split) they remained friends throughout their lives. Judith died a couple of years ago and was given a state funeral. It would be great if you could watch their rendition of "I Am Australian" which many people would like to become our national anthem. It was written by Keith Woodley, one of the band members. Beautiful people who made beautiful music.

Great reaction guys... This group brings back memories of better times... They toured in the late 1990s and early 2000s right till 2004... You should see if you can find a performance from the 1990's or 2000's... What I really wanted you to see is how good Judith Durham was even in her advanced age... Her voice lost nothing... She loved to play piano and sing at her home... Some say she got better as she got older... Thank you for reacting to The Seekers again... I'll see you on the next one... Keep being awesome !!!...

Judy Durham passed away in late 2022. So the obits reminded us of The Seekers.
One song I remember was "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing." It was originally a Coca-Cola commercial that was so popular that somebody decided to add and modify the lyrics, and it was put out by The Seekers and got them another hit.

Another great Seekers tune. Timeless. Keep going. Love Judith's pure clear voice. Folk music was huge in the late 50s and early 60s. It largely went away with the British Invasion. The Seekers lasted longer than some. Please check out The Weavers (Kisses Sweeter Than Wine and Goodnight Irene), The Kingston Trio (M.T.A.and A Worried Man) and Peter Paul and Mary (500 Miles and If I Had A Hammer). And That's just a start. Some songs are originals and there are a lot of covers. Peter, Paul and Mary did a lot of Dylan songs.

Great you have done another Seekers song. But please please please take a look at some of the other 60's UK ladies especially Cilla Black (Anyone Who Had A Heart, You're My World, If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind, Alfie, Loves Just A Broken Heart) and Sandie Shaw (Long Live Love, Always Something There To Remind Me, Puppet On A String, Tell The Boys) and some more Shirley Bassey (Where Do I Begin-The theme from Love Story, This Is My Life)

The seekers were from Australia and became famous in the 60s in England, but there was a singer from South Africa who was just as or more famous than Seekers at this time. His name is Roger Whitaker. He has a unique voice and introduced us to his way of incorporating his whistling into his songs. Check him out you'll be amazed.

Guitarist were Bruce Woodley and Keith Potger, Athol Guy on bass - all were active in Australian music for over 50 years - Athol managed a new group in Britain after the Seekers broke up in the mid-70s called The New Seekers - check them out! Next Seekers song, either Kumbaya or Morningtown Ride pls!

It was Keith Potger that set up and managed the New Seekers and even performed in a few of their recordings.

I took my Mum to the Royal Albert Hall in London during The Seekers 50th Anniversary Tour,my Mum had been a fan of theirs back in the 60s when she was a teenager but had never seen them perform live.
Mum was in her 70s when she finally got to see them live on stage and as Judith Durham began singing Mum sat their crying moved by Durhams beautiful voice after all those years.
After the show a group of fans waited by the door for the group to leave and as Judith walked out everyone was singing A World of Our Own to her😢
