  • The latest LEGO ICONS set brings us the Classic Defender 90. This seems to match the scale of the DeLorean Time Machine #10300 and the Camaro Z78 #10304. The Defender offers many versatile features, such as the ability to switch between a rugged over lander or a sleek estate driver. You can also choose which engine sits under the hood, a V8 or 5 cylinder turbo diesel. The added suspension is a great feature, however this build is not without its issues.

    Thanks for pointing out the things you see as potential issues instead of glossing over them or not mentioning them at all. While it seems that none of them are items that reduce from the display-ability of the set, they are thing that might bother some builders. This is what makes your reviews so valuable.

    "Naturally aspirated v8" *looks at mimic supercharger* 😂. Great looking set, hopefully they'll bring out a 4 door version in the future

    Very cool. Thanks for another honest review and agree with you on everything you said. I'm excited to buy it. I always watch your reviews before buying any set, so I hope you continue to review car sets.

    After listening to a friend who owns a Land Rover it sounds like you need a huge toolbox as it always seems to be something that needs to be fixed :-) Great looking set, and I agree with you that it is a little weird that it has so much wiggle in it, but most people would probably keep it standning on display on the shelf anyway.

    This set is great but expensive.
    You should make a video comparing this Land Rover to the technic Land Rover

    I want to see that Bricklink designer modular I saw in the background on the floor. It looks way cooler than the Land Rover 😂

    Honest review, very nice. It feels like it is more of a display piece and not a play piece? Not sure how I feel about that. I know how my grandson would feel about it. LOL

    I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of Land Rover, but the details and design look pretty good in this set. However the extra pieces make the vehicle look "too busy." I prefer the simplified look of it. Having said that, it seems a bit of a waste to spend $240 with extra pieces laying around. The Delorean looks way cooler in terms of epicness. Therefore this is a pass for me.

    Thank you for a well explained video. Also for pointing out all the different features. Was interesting to learn how the spare wheels prevent the hood and back door from fully opening. I like the idea that one is offered 2 different versions to build which to choose from .
    I agree with you that by building the off road version, one has fewer pieces left at the end. As this is an expensive set, why not utilise all available pieces.
    I will be investing in this set, not immediately. Wait and see if the price comes down, or there is perhaps a promotion which reduces the price for a while.

    Thanks for sharing this set with us.
    I do love Land Rover Defenders, still thinking about buying it as I prefer a Defender 110 of a 90. Well I might create an 110 with my 2nd set, if the price is reduced.
    Question, how do the 90 look like with the roof of and back seats removed, those 90s are mostly farming trucks in Europe

    Its a beautiful set, but it is far too expensive for its size. I feel like Lego has really been pushing it with these prices lately.

      And the fact half the set clearly isn’t up to the standard it should be. I wouldn’t walk into someone’s garden and half plant something and expect to be paid or half cut a hedge but Lego seem to be half arsing a lot recently and charging more for the Joy!

    Could Bellville/Scala dolls be adequately proportioned for this model? ;-)

    • @alexnunes
      @alexnunes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure as I do not own any of these dolls, but the technic minifigures would fit these nicely if that helps.

    That lego collection looks very nice and also looks like it's worth thousands of dollars🙂, thank you for the helpful review I'm planning to get the defender on Christmas this year and put it in a display case when there is one available for it on ebay or Amazon so that suspension wobble issue won't be an issue for me, also i have been wondering what the back of the land rover defender looked like as well so thank you again for showing the different variations of the set which are expedition with all the included accessories, estate the stock model, stock model with a different style hood, and the convertible version however the convertible version isn't shown on the box, also the interchangeable engines the black v8 engine and the turbo diesel engine,and the different steering wheel positions is a very cool addition as well making me wish the price was low so I could get it on my birthday which is in 4 months.

    • @alexnunes
      @alexnunes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! I think as a display model it will work best. And adding it to a display case is ideal as this model appears to be difficult to dust.

  • @arghjayem
    @arghjayem ปีที่แล้ว +2

    05:37 depends on how badly you treat you IRL Defender! 😂 the most realistic part of the set is probably the steering! Power steering defenders was never the greatest!
    And whilst I appreciate how they’ve allowed you to build both a LHD and a RHD version in this set….what really annoys me (having owned a couple of defenders myself) is the rear view mirror. It has two positions allegedly to accommodate both LHD and RHD setups. This is totally inaccurate. The rear view mirror in a defender, regardless of LHD or RHD, is the SAME! Dead centre! It doesn’t need modding left or right! 😡
    TBH I wish they’d have done a 110 instead of a 90. They call it the “Classic Land Rover Defender” but it was originally first released as the Land Rover One Ten. The shorter 90 wheel base option coming a few years later.
    What this model is probably modelled on based on the engine options and colour, is the “Heritage Edition” defender which was a limited release in 2015 commemorating the end of the old Defender being produced before being replaced by the new Defender that was the basis for the Technic set. The heritage edition sported a very similar light green paint job and came in both a V8 and 2.2l diesel, but the Diesel engine in this set seems to be modelled on the TD5 engine instead.

    I would get this but $370 AUD is too much for this. And I don't really have too much space for this. Although I must admit I do rather like this set.
