The Excavator is probably on back order because almost everyone with a City can get use out of Construction sets. That plus this one being a great design and not too expensive makes it super popular.
Excavators typically have that rigid bent beam for the first segment of the arm. TLG could've filled in the gap at least :( I would add a couple things: a "thumb" which is exactly what it sounds like, and optional attachments to swap out the bucket like a claw aka "ripper" and jackhammer. There are tons of specialized attachments for all sorts of jobs. If someone wanted to get really fancy, they could add a ground blade. It's like the scoop bulldozers use. I work in an adjacent industry, I hope I got all these terms right lol.
The supports as you called them, are known as outriggers, and the control station is a crane cabin, the rest of the description of features was OK, those boxes are not the same as the ones as the set's I got, they have the push down tabs?
the excavator's tracks turn on mine when I push it along my hardwood desk the reason it's not working for you is because you put the track assemblies' ladders/steps on upside down which is also causing's the rocking issue
Great review! Couple real-life explanations because I'm knit-picky, the bumpers coming off of the cars is most likely to help with the issue you highlighted of the front and rear hitting the ramps on the transporter. The cars look race car/tuner inspired and it's relatively common practice to have quick release bumpers on cars should they need to be loaded on a trailer that isn't at a shallow enough angle among other reasons. The excavator elbow you mentioned is also not supposed to be hinged, they're specifically designed with that shape to account for range of movement and clearance. Not to take away from the awesome review at all, I just like specifics and sometimes it's cool to learn some real life tidbits when building lego
In my opinion Lego did really well with the sizing of the crane and excavator. I'm assuming the 80T is referring to the tonnage of the excavator. As well as the crane is a good size if you compare it to a 650Tonne Liebherr. I really enjoyed the build of both, just finished the crane not long ago, very interesting build. Also the crane not articulating in its centre is pretty accurate, those cranes are known to be quite hard to manoeuvre, they do however usually have a steering mode allowing them to rotate certain wheels to get around tight corners.
I'm lucky I'm in UK already bought and built my crane, and it's definitely got a size problem, but is a nice set. The weight is for show only unfortunately but the pads do lift the crane off the surface ever so slightly so they function and provide stability at full reach.
Yeah, I definitely want the Excavator. I've been wanting one for a while now, and this looks like a pretty good one! The Car Transporter is pretty neat, but I do think it has some problems, namely the lowrider cars not being able to get onto it. :P Also I think the whole thing is a bit inflated in parts count/size, much like the Lego Truck, but cost aside it is a pretty cool looking model. The cars look pretty cool too, I just think the swappable bumpers is a fairly useless feature, especially with such mismatched colours. The Mobile Crane... I gotta say, that thing is packed with a lot of really cool looking features, and I'm very glad to see that. However, the lack of articulation would make it practically impossible to drive around, and that... kinda is a big deal with huge vehicles.
Thanks for the comment. They all seem to have their good and bad. generally speaking, they are great new sets, but sadly none that will make their way into my city.
very nice and tidy presentation, no problem with 3 sets in one viceo when you do it like this. Just bouth the excavator on Friday and lookingforward to building it next weekend.
Hard time getting around rings true. It’s like LEGO is encouraging you not to buy the road sets because their oversized tractor trailers don’t fit around the curves
Great video Alex!! 👍🏻👍🏻 I plan on buying all three of these sets. The Mobil crane and excavator I’m going to put on my Lionel O gauge layout and the auto carrier for display. Have a nice weekend
All those sets have a lot of good looking details. And I the colours are well chosen to. Maybe a view minor things could be better. Otherwise this is one of the best looking construction/ transport sets
Alex,if you want a Lego challenge, try this,.....add /buy a second crane, build it half the original size, build some flatbed (yellow semis) to haul the crane weights and add a couple of pilot ( escort cars). The smaller crane helps build or disassemble the larger crane. You could make a unique video of everything!
Those look awesome!! Now, how to place them in the Lego City.... The Car Transporter could be placed near the Car Garage/Parking Lot. Both the Excavator & Crane could be placed near the Construction Site; IDK if there's any room in there atm....
There awesome sets The car transporter and crane sets should be cheaper IMO The car transporter is good except not being able to load cars smoothly onto it The construction excavator is great 4:30 funny you mention that, I have a very similar looking technic construction excavator set The mobile crane is impressive, not being able to turn is not good though
I have to say, you kind of let me down yesterday! I was counting on you to remind me that the Bricklink designer sets were going up for sale yesterday but I totally forgot about it and missed the one set I wanted to order.
i don't understant why you need a reminder from somebody else when the bricklink designer program starts, I mean, if you know when the pre-order starts, you can simply go to bricklink's page and watch for the counter. I didn't even know that series 2 started last week and I was able to grab 1 copy of the brick cross train station without any reminder. That set was available for almost 10 hours, it was sold out like 7-8 PM EST time.
I've already seen the car transporter 60408 vor € 75 in a shop in Germany, in Castrop-Rauxel (try to say that as a non-German speaker😂). Similar prices on the internet. Fits my tuner workshop 60389 well. 🤣 yes, the excavator's shovel is as big as the original tipper truck! Alex, are you keeping the crane and excavator irregardles to their size for your city? And the trucks?
That's a great price on that car transporter. I figure there will be some good sales for these. I am not sure if I will keep these. The issue I have is I really do love these sets, but the painful truth is I just have no SPACE for them. I'd rather them go to a young LEGO fan than sit in the box on a shelf in my basement.
I have zero issue with you combining similar sets (especially from the same theme) into one review.
The Excavator is probably on back order because almost everyone with a City can get use out of Construction sets. That plus this one being a great design and not too expensive makes it super popular.
That Crane is a must have!!

Omg that crane its huge, love it
The supports as you called them, are known as outriggers, and the control station is a crane cabin, the rest of the description of features was OK, those boxes are not the same as the ones as the set's I got, they have the push down tabs?
Thanks for letting me know. As for the boxes, I would rather have the push tabs. I don't like the box top approach.

I love it when LEGO gets inspiration from real life! 😊
In my opinion Lego did really well with the sizing of the crane and excavator. I'm assuming the 80T is referring to the tonnage of the excavator. Finally some who knows something about the crane
The excavator is actualy the cooerct scale for current city sets. The older city construction sets were actually too small.
I'm lucky I'm in UK already bought and built my crane, and it's definitely got a size problem, but is a nice set. The weight is for show only unfortunately but the pads do lift the crane off the surface ever so slightly so they function and provide stability at full reach.

The crane is more realistic without any joint in the center
I bought the Lego Delivery Truck. Waiting to get the Car Transporter a bit cheaper next week in the toy sales here in Australia
very nice and tidy presentation, no problem with 3 sets in one viceo when you do it like this. Just bouth the excavator on Friday and lookingforward to building it next weekend.
Hard time getting around rings true. It’s like LEGO is encouraging you not to buy the road sets because their oversized tractor trailers don’t fit around the curves
Amazing crane ! Huge 😊
I remember when lego use it have those big firetrucks lol
Alex, will you be putting the Excavator and Crane in your city?
Great video Alex!! 👍🏻👍🏻 I plan on buying all three of these sets. The Mobil crane and excavator I’m going to put on my Lionel O gauge layout and the auto carrier for display. Have a nice weekend
That will look great! Thanks for checking it out.
The track assembly on your excavator is installed upside down, that's why the whole thing is rocking back and forth 😲
🙄
its also why the tracks aren't turning when you push it
Question will any of these go in your city?
As much as I would love to have them in it, they just won't fit anywhere that is practical.
@@alexnunes With some creativity you could, but to each their own.
I like the crane but might struggle with “space!” for it 😄
True😂
"SPACE"
All those sets have a lot of good looking details. And I the colours are well chosen to. Maybe a view minor things could be better. Otherwise this is one of the best looking construction/ transport sets

Are the details for the cars in the Car transporter set stickers or prints?
Yes, the side panels are stickers.
Awesome review Alex - Looking forward in getting a couple of those LEGO Sets
I always enjoy your perspective, even on sets I probably won't buy (I have a small city and collect Marvel). Keep up all of the great content!
Alex, are you saying it will be 60 days before it's restocked in-store? LEGO's site says the backorder will ship by June 23rd?
Everything is awesome , brilliant Alex thank you for the amazing review from across the pond ❤
Those look awesome!!
Now, how to place them in the Lego City....
The Car Transporter could be placed near the Car Garage/Parking Lot.
Both the Excavator & Crane could be placed near the Construction Site; IDK if there's any room in there atm....
Nice cars!
Nice one

The big excavator is for the strip mining areas in your city, Alex. What do you mean you don't have a diamond mine?!
I have to say, you kind of let me down yesterday! I was counting on you to remind me that the Bricklink designer sets were going up for sale yesterday but I totally forgot about it and missed the one set I wanted to order.
Sorry! I think I made a post soon after they went live. That's a bummer, man.
i don't understant why you need a reminder from somebody else when the bricklink designer program starts, I mean, if you know when the pre-order starts, you can simply go to bricklink's page and watch for the counter. These sets all look amazing but I just feel they’re way to big scale wise for my Lego city.

Yay
One
Construction is just not a forte of your large city...
I don’t need the crane… I don’t need the crane 🫣😖
🤣
Did you buy the crane already?
