    Such a great video Nicole, thanks so much for kindly accepting my suggestion for a topic. I really appreciate this follower-friendly support 🫶 There are so many great tips in this video 🤓 If you in future create more videos about… well video-making, then it could be great to hear about settings, ideas for what to film, how you set up light etc. 🌱 Just ideas again 👌 I am a bit curious also about how you approach the double work when you are at the shoot and have to continually switch between photography and video. I only have one camera and I have to use different lights (strobe/continuous) for video and photography since they - for my kind of work - just perform a lot better for each purpose. Then there is also the (frustrating) switch between vertical and horisontal…. 😂 Do you have any tips for this? And regarding the file size: Is 8 MB a standard size to aim for? What if you make a 1-2 minute production video for at business to use on their website - how much larger file size than the 8 MB can you go up to? Thanks in advance Nicole - and thanks again for creating a video to reply to my interest in video making - much appreciated🙏
Best from Susanne

      Great feedback and questions. Thank you. To answer one of your questions right now. The 8mb file is only for the banner portion of the website. If you create a marketing video for a client many of mine have uploaded it to TH-cam and then embed the file to their website page. Additionally, for switching from photography to video, I like to finish the photographer portion first, then change over to the video. It's more streamlined, but based on the content being captured that might not work. Most of the time that's how I do my workflow. Are you using a tripod at all during the video portion of your shoots? If so, is it a photography tripod with a ball head? Thanks, Nicole

      The foam board is a standard type found at a craft or art store. Sorry I don’t know if it’s a “polystyrene”. It definitely sticks since it’s a paper like coating. It’s not slick or plastic.

    There is nothing wrong with portrait photography. Each field has its place (no one hires a heart specialist for brain surgery). It may not have been your intent, but this makes one part of your community sound underhanded and sneaky. Why not inform your customers, so that they know when a branding OR portrait photographer is appropriate for their needs? Each has something good to offer. 😉

    • @NicoleBedardPhotography
      @NicoleBedardPhotography หลายเดือนก่อน

      I completely agree with you. The intent is so show that there is a difference and if you are a business you need to be looking for something that is going to support your unique needs. If they only need a head shot or portrait, a portrait photographer is what they need. Many people don't even realize that there are brand photographers out there to support them. Each field does have their place. 100%!

    • @NicoleBedardPhotography
      @NicoleBedardPhotography หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, pricing is something we all tackle. I still increase my pricing almost yearly. I have more experience and can really see what it takes for certain packages to be executed. For the mini style brand session I outlined I wouldn't go under the $500 mark if you are in your first year. That's 30 min strategy meeting, 1 hr of shooting, 15 images travel time, editing time. If you have more experience then you can increase accordingly. But also note that the galleries I create can continue to generate money as client can go in a download files after they pick the ones included in the package. :)

    Thanks for sharing these inspiring ideas Nicole 🌱 You drone footage is really beautiful and I can only imagine your clients being very satisfied with these 🙌 If you are on the hunt for topics to upcoming videos (at least I know you have asked about this before - and if not, no hard feelings 😉): I would love to learn more about how to add on a bit of regular short video clips for clients when we go there for a branding photoshot anyway. Hi Nicole, thank you for your very nice and clear video. I am just starting to have a video. That is taken in a church while the priest is having his speech. What is the set up you would use? I would be most grateful for your instruction as I cannot test it beforehand :)

      I would suggest asking them if they could meet before everyone arrives so you can setup your camera and test the audio. That is what typically happens on any job so they should be open to it. Another suggestion is to buy headphones so you can plug it into the camera directly and hear the audio and adjust. You will be able to tell if you are too close or too far. Another suggestion I have is to have the priest mic with a Rode Wireless Mic System. The audio will be MUCH better. Let me know if you have additional questions.

      Hi! The iPad + Canon Camera Connect app is to only review the images in real time and tag with a star. There is no editing capabilities like C1 or Lightroom. The images are not even stored on the device, but only on the memory card in the camera. That's the main purpose. If I was in a studio setting or doing a studio product shoot and wanted to be tethered I use Lightroom and not C1. It's what I started with over a decade ago and that is what I am comfortable with. Either is fine. I can remote shoot via lightroom There is a "live" view in the camera connect app that would allow you to take an image from the camera, if that is what you are looking for. Let me know if this helps or if I confused the question.

    is it possible to connect at a outdoor fashion shoot without a real wifi connection? we use bluetooth method or camera and phone just need to connect through wifi option

      The wifi connection is via your camera. The R5 C has wifi so that is what you are connecting to. So yes, you can be outside in an remote area and still have the images flow to your ipad. The ipad is looking to connect to the camera. You are good to go! Have a great shoot.

      @@ishanagarwalphotographyGot it! Yes when there are a lot of wifi's around it can impact the iPad and the camera connect. It's frustrating. Hopefully next time you can get some more time to setup and make the connection work.

    Such a great video, Nicole ☺ And such and important topic. I absolutely love your kind point at 10:23 🫶 So well said 💚 Something else: Great idea not only to have an ipad with you to the shoot but to use this as something to make them relax before the photoshoot 👌 When you use and ipad instead of a computer - is that because it's easier or how? Thanks for all your great videos - find them really helpful and clever 🌱 Best from Susanne

      Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I've been thinking about this topic for awhile, especially because I'm hearing these statements at nearly every shoot. I like the iPad because I move around a lot during a shoot and don't want to be tethered to a computer. We are often moving into different spaces that I don't want to have that hinder my process. Plus, all I need to do it review the images. I don't need to edit or adjust them in any way. If I did, that would lean more towards tethering to a computer. Thank you for your continued support!
