    The red from the camera goes to the red with the radio. The orange reverse wire input goes to the reverse wire of the vehicle so the radio knows when the vehicle is in reverse

    Door jam harness broken that's why that rear speaker doesn't work

      Well known issue with every Chrysler/Dodge vehicle. Anything older than 10 years speakers, courtesy lights or power locks dont work, and that rubber accordion is where you need to look. Their wires always break. It's like they use the brittlest insulation possible for the wiring harnesses. Ford and Chevy don't have that have that issue.

    Thanks for the video, I'm wanting to upgrade so this is helpful

  • @brucestarr4438

    I'm at the beginning of the video. The HVAC light bulbs are easy-peasy. I had to do mine a few years back. A pair of mini needle nose pliers into the small holes. You don't need to take the white plate off to change them. The backup lights are probably something with the aftermarket replacement tail light units.

    The backup camera you installed "works now and then"? The job isn't done then and you should be figuring out what you did wrong. The red wire sticking out of the camera cable at each end is what powers the camera and it should be attached to power at the head unit.
    The rear door speaker issue is most likely in the door to body harness and you should have run a new set of wires to fix that problem.
    You should also be using a better crimp connector. Either "white caps" or the type that crimp and have shrink insulation. It just makes a more professional look and reduces failures.
    You're gonna need to step up your game.

    • @ArdenAutomotive

      Appreciate your comments/opinions. The camera working now and then was from a faulty power or ground cable coming from the reverse harness in the taillight. Which has been fixed. Just because it’s not in the video doesn’t mean I haven’t fixed it. I know exactly what the little red wire is now. I connected it that day of install. Just didn’t mention in video. I asked the customer (after video was filmed and when he came to pick up the truck) if he wanted me to run new wires to fix the speaker. He said no that it’ll be okay and didn’t want to pay me for the extra time/effort for that (also mentioned in another comment). Wire connectors are a personal preference. A certain connector does not make you better or more professional. Sure there are better methods. I used connectors that I already had laying around our shop. Have had zero failures. I do audio work on the side away from my full time job so I am learning new things as I go. I have never claimed to be a “professional”. I love what I do and I’m just a young guy looking to achieve a dream

    • @hamskoolie9706
      @hamskoolie9706 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArdenAutomotive You get paid to do the work, that makes you a professional. It's how professional a reputation you want that separates the shade trees from the bad asses.
      Those connectors will probably be fine but probably isn't good enough for the bad assed mechanic or the new guy building a reputation. The ones with crimp and shrink wrap (with sealant) cost a little more but they do a heck of a job in relieving stress on the crimp connection, reducing fatigue at the junction of flexible wire and non flexible crimp, and they seal out corrosion causing moisture. For the slight increase in cost, they're well worth it.
      As for leaving things out of your videos, you'll get called on it. I've been doing TH-cam for 10 years. My first channel (I have three now) started with a camera that did video, a digital audio recorder, and a Sony handi cam. I've learned a lot. I upped my A/V gear a bit and picked up some heavy duty editing software.
      I still get called out when I leave things out. LOL
      Oh, this is the newest account. Slow on the start but when construction begins it should start gathering subs.

    I can tell you what the speaker issue was. For some reason the rear left speaker is common to go out due to the harness in the rubber boot on the door. If you remove the boot, you will see where the wires to the speaker will have a break in them due the opening and closing of the door. I had the issue myself.

      It will depend what options you have on your truck. Go to crutchfield.com then put in all your truck details that it'll ask for. Then find the same radio or similar radio that you're installing and click on "save on required installation gear" and it'll show you all the parts you need!

    The back doors on those trucks at the door jamb from opening and closing the door cuts the wires so you have to pull the wires out reconnect them. It takes 30 minutes per side. You can check to see if the windows roll up and down if they don't the wires are cut and the speakers won't work

  • @charles-ih7zp
    @charles-ih7zp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Shouldn’t you rerun the wire then? It is an audio shop no? It’s not mechanics job but if there’s a break in the wire it is probably in the rubber in the door jamb. Best thing is just run new wire through crimp new wire and go to the dash and pull the wire through. Might have to cut tape and zip ties in the door floor panel. Or just run it manually and cut old wire so not to confuse with new wire. But I do believe if the customer wants it’s audio shops job to fix that.

    • @ArdenAutomotive
      @ArdenAutomotive  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First off I’m not an audio shop. I was doing some audio stuff on the side (installing speakers, radios and subs). I don’t repair things if there’s already a known issue. When this guy came to pick up the truck I asked him if he knew some of the speakers didn’t work and he acknowledged that so I suggested he could bring it to me later to run new wires and I gave him a price for all that (yes expensive price because I don’t want to be responsible if that doesn’t fix the issue then I’m either chasing an issue that I don’t know or have an angry customer because he has to pay me for time and effort but didn’t fix the issue). Sure that may be the wrong way to go about it but I don’t have a shop with unlimited resources and time

    • @charles-ih7zp
      @charles-ih7zp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Okay your set up looks like a shop is all. But I get it requiring and electrical diagnostic can cost a lot of money. I was just commenting because I thought you were running a legit shop not side job.

    • @ArdenAutomotive
      @ArdenAutomotive  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@charles-ih7zp No. I did some audio stuff on the side at the window tint shop I use to work at. I don't do any more audio stuff because of stuff like that.

    You seem like a good dude wanting to do well looking into things and such .
    Was the back left speaker already not working do you know and if not I’d check all components before you get started with customer so know blame falls your way because people can really ruin your pockets by taking you or any buddy who does this kinda work to court.
    1. Do a run around with paint sure no scratches are noticeable if they are still do walk around with customer and video my friend people love to blame people working on car or their truck.
    2. Check all door panels all around any dash part that might be loose or broken before you get going better safe than sorry.
    3. Then one last walk around when customer picks the truck or car up once again better to be safe than sorry my friend nice job.
    Buddy why I say this not sure if you went over the back speaker with customer or not before you got going always good to know wha your getting into and it’s always good to have videos or written agreements I’m sure you do but it’s also nice having people watching your back.
    Good going with your business.

    And this folks, is a true hack job. None of the steering wheel sound controls work now, do they? Cheap head unit, cheap speakers. Still running the low power stock amp which only sends bass to the front door speakers. Camera is total hack job. There is purple wire in A pillar pre wired for backup camera. Has to sound truly horrid.

    • @ArdenAutomotive
      @ArdenAutomotive  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. Didn't have steering wheel controls to begin with.
      2. Customer supplied al the stuff that was installed. Not my choice. Clearly you didn't hear the part where I said the customer installed those speakers and he just wanted me to check his connections. I didn't even install the speakers.
      3. I did what I could with the camera that was provided. There's no such thing as a pre-wired backup camera in a 2005 truck where backup cameras were barely even a thing.
      4. Like I said previously I didn't buy the radio or speakers or anything in this install. He bought what he wanted installed so I installed. Not my problem that he didn't want to spend the money for a good radio and good sound system
