Just installed the devise on my brand new 2021 MK 7.5. It functions as advertised.
However, popping out the button array was a challenge. Didn't just give it up as per the vid. I grabbed the instructions and lo and behold, I needed to use the pry tool to nudge out the bottom end of the array. Viola! She promptly gave it up.
I'm happy now and looking forward to many years of enjoyable motoring without annoyance. A great $60 fix w/o messing with the coding.

Guessing all it does is simulates pushing the button when it gets power and reads the actual switch to determine the mode you want on or off. Pretty nifty and could be done for pretty much any car that has a button for it.

I had installed one of these in my 2020 golf r and it actually has some logic in the one I got from aliexpress. You can have it set to not turn off from start. To be the same as factory or you can have it remember the last start stop setting before shutting the car off. It's much better than programming it out.

Charles, I got this as a Christmas Gift and man what a bear to install. I have a 2020 GTI and I could not get the switches to pop up. You made it look so easy, so not sure what I was doing wrong, but they would not budge. So I installed with them in place and what a PITA. Its in, but when I start the car the system does deactivate upon turning the key, but I hear this low "Nat Nat" electrical sound coming from the shifter area. It didn't do this before the jumper install, so was curious is this normal? Does the harness contain some kind of relay or something inside the wiring that causes a sound? If the noise keeps bugging me, I may just put it back to stock, but for now its a muffled sound and only does it when the car starts about 2-3 seconds after. Strange. Your Thoughts??

I finally got mine in. I had already been looking at these and was about to order when I saw your video then saw they sold out in less than a half hour! 😳
Anyway, my GTI is a 2021 and the buttons definitely don’t pop out that easily. There are four tabs that have to be pressed to release them from the trim. There was no way they were coming out without removing the whole trim. Not hard since it’s just removing the cubby and two screws, but thought it might be helpful for some people that might be struggling with the button removal.
Now to figure out why I have a USB hub with an unused burgundy connector and a mystery brown one that goes to nothing (?) on an S trim GTI 🤷‍♂️🤣

Most stop start systems are just tacked onto existing cars that were never intended to have them. Most are clunky, slow and feel no different than having your engine stall out on you. The only place they belong is on hybrids, where you don't have to rely on the combustion powertrain for everything. I'm so used to getting into a car and just driving it without having to fiddle around with the settings every time I start it. Mods like this are a godsend.

My dad Jetta has it and I also have it in my Ram and in both cars, from my experience, the engine is back to life and ready to throttle up before your foot is completely off the brake. Just moving your foot on the pedal a tiny bit, without releasing the brake turns the engine back ON.

Not related to license plate, it happens to all Golfs. This point crops up pretty regularly on the Golf fb groups. Interesting mod. Will that work on a B7 Passat 125TDI? All the workings look very similar.
And yes I’ve had the engine check light on 2 or 3 times in my 10 year ownership. Which is 2 or 3 times more than my Alfa Romeo!

What will happen if I install this jumper piece, but do not do any changes to the voltage (7.6) in the open controller. I do not have a laptop or the software you show in the video. Thanks

I actually wouldn’t mind the feature if there was a way I could control it with the brake pedal. Under normal breaking it’s always on, but if I feel like I could be sitting for a few minutes… press down further and it stops. I have an SQ5 and it’s just WAY too sensitive. Is what I’m suggesting even possible by altering the programming?

Going to give this a try. My mk7 GLI I got as a replacement for my totaled GTI has been coded with OBD11 but still engages when I stop. My other cars like my wife’s atlas have worked with the vcds coding but this GLI keeps killing the engine when I stop even with coding until I manually press the button. Hopefully this will work as advertised. Thanks Charles.

    • @TheMlvswoll

Got mine in today, installed in minutes. Appears to be working as advertised. I did go back and return the voltage values for the vcds coding to default 12.1 before installing.

I have one question about this harness and I'm willing to try it out if no one has done it before. Has anyone tried to use this on a 2020 GTI MK7.5. I have been trying to use the adaptation voltage change on my OBD11 but nothing happens. (doesn't work on this car type) I have even tried the apps that OBD11 gives out but nothing helps. Please help HumbleMechanic!!!

Erm, in my country you go to a specialist with VCDS and disable that from the software. When you start the car, it shuts down automatically after 3 seconds. Best way to disable it and still use it if you want it.
