I wish you talked about how the GCN version does a fine job of cleaning up the model textures. That meeting between Brad and Jill really was a stark change compared to how choppy the game looked on DC or PS.
Honestly the backgrounds look really nice in most of the ports, but the problem was Capcom didn't take the time to update them AT ALL. Absolutely huge gripe with it.

An absolute huge notice. Loading up the game in PC was absolutely instant. Actually if you notice in some scenes that aren't synced with PC is because of how fast it loads.
PC version was good on Pentium 4, running trough the city was very smooth especially during the background changes. You could even crank up the resolution and the colour depth. PS1 version got lower resolution and terribile loading screens... running back to the warehouse meant 10-15 doors loading😂😂😂
Skipping the “opening door” loading screens is a stupid thing to try and call a Pro. The doors open like that to heighten tension. 🙄 They should be unskippable even if they weren’t a loading screen imo.

You forgot to mention that while the Gamecube version has the same 3D model as the PC and DC, it's the only version where they cared to apply subpixel accuracy to the polygons. This was something the PSX lacked and made every 3D games a wobbly mess. Usually, PC and DC ports get that too but it seems Capcom was very lazy and didn't care about a very basic 3D enhancement until the Gamecube port.

Personally my favorite is the Dreamcast version, the mercenaries mini game and all costumes are unlocked from the start and it has higher quality character models.
Weird that vertex warping/flickering is still present in both PC and DC ports... However it is absent on NGC : models are clear and smoother. Which I think, despite the darkness, could've made this port closest to a "next-gen" feel, back in the day.
Will always have a soft spot in my heart for the original Playstation 1 version, but dreamcast and gamecube got the better ports :) Incredible job on the video as always Kelpyboi
The GC version is very clearly the best one.. even though I never played that version on a GC, only on an emulator. The version I played back in the day was the PS1 version.
@@Rschr101 This isn't an issue, it's a console game where you play on a TV. Every TV has it's on brightness and contrast slider to adjust it to your liking. Those settings were even stronger back in the CRT days.

If you are playing this on Windows 10 anything you have should be fine. It's an extremely low demanding game so it can be easily run. For age appropriate hardware I'm afraid it's out of my expertise. I haven't really recorded using older hardware on PC titles
At 5:25 you say that the PS Store version of the game can be played on PS4? i think there are no BC for PS1 games on PS4 at all, i don't have the console but if i login into PS store, RE 3 nemesis and other PS1 games i own, only appears compatible with PS3, PSP and PS Vita.
Best version of RE3 is the modded Sourcenext pc port. Works great on modern systems, highest quality fmvs, door skip and most importantly no stutter between scene changes.

I am a PS gamer. First PS was PS2 and also first game was God of War 1. Never Played the Original games and the only game i Played and still play is RE2 Remake. Almost got RE3 Remake until i forgot about it.
Resident Evil 3 was my introduction to the series on PS1 back then. In 2004 I've had PC version, but barely played it as I've already moved on from RE series at the time. Sadly I've lost my PC copy.I've played GameCube version and as with RE2, I prefer it to other versions.
PC version is a bitch to get an A rank on though, because it can randomly get stuck between door loadings or entering/exiting the status menu or outright crashing, ruining the whole run int he process. Old game + japanese devs + PC is a recipe for disaster. Best to play the console versions, even on PC through emulators.

My reason why I own each port from different consoles is because I love showing my love of the resident evil series especially 2 and 3 being my favorite ones. I can see that the Gamecube is my preferred one. But at the moment I don't own one so I play the Dreamcast version and the picture quality looks better if you use the pound cable with HDMI. One major difference which I'm not sure if you encountered it. Was that in the scene after Carlos shoots Murphy, it plays a dramatic song. Which the dreamcast doesn't it's all quiet that was the only thing that annoyed me. And I love it on the Ps vita because it's on the go. Simple is that lol
I play this a lot when I was a kid. Now I can relive my retro gaming life with raspberry pi computer. Retropie rocks! Can’t believe little computer can run Dreamcast version of re3 smoothly.

Does any version have a game NOT have tank controls? I loved the RE2 version on the n64 because it had a control scheme that was closer to modern day controls.
RE3 was my entry as well. Don't forget this game was made to hold over while code Veronica was being worked on. So I'm not surprised they didn't give the ports a lot of love.

i suppose you mean rom , i have resident evil 3 dreamcast rom , it works great using redream dreamcast emulator , and you can upscale the resolution , there is no deference at all , except the crt .
The pc version is more fluid in camera changes, despite the difficulty in configuring the controls this makes a much more dynamic version than the others

The Gog Release now gives the PC Version a nice make up to pick up and play with a Controller. The fanmade Makeup of the Sourcenext Version is the top, he even made a lot of Work to take out the Texture Wobble. Ah and it supports Vibration.
The Gamecube version is hands down the best version. You failed to mention that the models have proper texture alignment on models so none of the jitter from the PS1 and the dreamcast and PC port are present in the GC version. Couple that with the higher quality CGI and smoothed out backgrounds to hide the pixelation and still containing all of the content makes it the best.
Can't mention everything in a video without forgetting one or two things. It happens. But good point mentioning about the texture alignment, kind of amazing how much thr GC rectifies that problem.

Recently replaying this due to the GOG re-release. Full modern controller support out of the box! If you're into mods, it's also fairly painless to install the Japanese version and patch it the Source-Next version and be able to use popular mods. Classic REbirth, TeamX HD, and Seamless HD Project.
Im currently playing the gamecube version of rs3 on my phone. I think gamecube version of rs3 is the best among them. Why not do same content but on emulator versions?
@@Kelphelp Hah, tell me about it, i have a physical copy of it, as well as the RE2 Platinum edition, they're nice novelties but they're unplayable unless your PC runs Windows XP or maybe Windows 7 if you're lucky.

@@Kelphelp You should try the Sourcenext version some time, it's great, especially with the Classic REbirth patch by Gemini, which allows for completely free keybinding and full controller support. RE1 2 and 3 has sourcenext versions, there's even Sourcenext versions of Dino Crisis 1 and 2, though only Dino 1 has a REbirth patch so far.

You should mention the sourcenext PC version, which has highest quality FMVs and an improved resolution, which has an unofficial patch by Gemini which translates the game to English, adds improved controller support, has graphics fixes. By the way, a year ago SHDP was ported to this port with inventory textures added (Which couldn't be added to dolphin due to technical reasons), which makes this the definitive version of the game (along with the mediakite version of RE1 and sourcenext version of RE2 with REbirth patches ofc)
RE3 for the GC is surprisingly beefy. I can run RE2 at 1080p and get a consistent framerate on GC. When I run RE3 at native resolution, my laptop's performance dips like crazy. RE3 was ahead of its time.
Would be interesting to see how things go with the PS2's *Smoothing* option on some games....cause like a moron I am about to go out to a video game store that has RE1...2...3. copies for the PS1
I use Wallpaper Engine on stream for only 3 bucks. It has tons of user made backgrounds and many that are animated. Doesn't seem to use too many resources and perfect for a desktop computer.
The pc of RE3 has the sourcenext ver and applied with classic rebirth the game comes perfectly ported, it removes the wobbly models, high res textures and moddable.
The Dreamcast and GameCube versions are obviously better in terms of graphics (the textures look smooth on the GameCube version), special features (the alternate costumes are available at the start in the Dreamcast version and you can see your health on its VMU), and sound quality (You can hear Nemesis clearly in both versions and see him coming so you plan your next move), but the PS1 version is perhaps the easiest one to acquire. The Dreamcast version can go for a nasty $140, the GameCube version goes for around $110, and the PS1 version usually goes for a merciful $54. It depends on whether not you want the game to include the manual and/or the box.
i tried the original PSX version, later on the PC (back in 2009) then dolphin and now testing the dreamcast version so far the gamecube its my favorite
My biggest gripe with the PC version is that it doesn't allow d-pad support. I've always played the OGs with the d-pad and playing with joysticks is difficult for me. I am however confident that the upcoming Classic Rebirth patch will fix this like it did for PC version of Dino Crisis.
Services and programs like Joy to Key allow you to tie macros to your controller so it is very much possible to play it like that. I played a couple PC titles like that and it works wonders
@@Kelphelp I tried mapping with JoyToKey but I can't run and turn with the d-pad. I can run in a straight line but she stutters when I turn making it impossible to play correctly.

Everyone says PSX and all I think of is the Japanese only Console which doesn't even work with games.
The ps1 wobble mesh textures is why i never liked that console. N64 didnt have this issue and i think it holds up a lot better

Nope. They all played preeeettyyyyyy much the same. PC version can be customized and programs can be macro changed so that's a way around it

The background on PS1 are 240p, but for PC and Dreamcast they used higher resolution assets on many (the majority?) of them.

Although I grew up in the dreamcast days and it's powerful graphics, but ps1 still holds it's end as a 32bit console back then and it really does.

Recently replaying this due to the GOG re-release. Full modern controller support out of the box! If you're into mods, it's also fairly painless to install the Japanese version and patch it the Source-Next version and be able to use popular mods. Classic REbirth, TeamX HD, and Seamless HD Project.

Most likely the old Eidos Interactive version. Its....pretty scuffed in alot of categories.
@@Kelphelp Hah, tell me about it, i have a physical copy of it, as well as the RE2 Platinum edition, they're nice novelties but they're unplayable unless your PC runs Windows XP or maybe Windows 7 if you're lucky.
@@LMR__1 With tinkering I know it can run but its just the accessibility of it is pretty ass. That was the prob. Features are really lacking and its pretty poor.
@@Kelphelp You should try the Sourcenext version some time, it's great, especially with the Classic REbirth patch by Gemini, which allows for completely free keybinding and full controller support. RE1 2 and 3 has sourcenext versions, there's even Sourcenext versions of Dino Crisis 1 and 2, though only Dino 1 has a REbirth patch so far.
I wouldn't mind doing an Ultimate mod guide for it so I would be down at some point. Appreciate ya letting me know man!

From an HDTV. But im using a framemeister for upscaling and el gato for capturing footage.

You should mention the sourcenext PC version, which has highest quality FMVs and an improved resolution, which has an unofficial patch by Gemini which translates the game to English, adds improved controller support, has graphics fixes. By the way, a year ago SHDP was ported to this port with inventory textures added (Which couldn't be added to dolphin due to technical reasons), which makes this the definitive version of the game (along with the mediakite version of RE1 and sourcenext version of RE2 with REbirth patches ofc)
I didn't have it on hand so I couldn't mention it here. GEMINI does amazing work with his mods, and I love that he does.
In the GC version the character models are smoother than PS1 and DC. You can also skip cut scenes by pressing start.

So the dreamcast and PC versions of RE3 were rushed cash grabs. Just like RE3Remake.

RE3 for the GC is surprisingly beefy. I can run RE2 at 1080p and get a consistent framerate on GC. When I run RE3 at native resolution, my laptop's performance dips like crazy. RE3 was ahead of its time.

I use Wallpaper Engine on stream for only 3 bucks. It has tons of user made backgrounds and many that are animated. Doesn't seem to use too many resources and perfect for a desktop computer.

It just has a charm on ps1 that its just unbeatable.
The pc of RE3 has the sourcenext ver and applied with classic rebirth the game comes perfectly ported, it removes the wobbly models, high res textures and moddable.
Gemini did a great job with thr classic Rebirth series. Always love his modding work

The Dreamcast and GameCube versions are obviously better in terms of graphics (the textures look smooth on the GameCube version), special features (the alternate costumes are available at the start in the Dreamcast version and you can see your health on its VMU), and sound quality (You can hear Nemesis clearly in both versions and see him coming so you plan your next move), but the PS1 version is perhaps the easiest one to acquire.
The Dreamcast version can go for a nasty $140, the GameCube version goes for around $110, and the PS1 version usually goes for a merciful $54. It depends on whether not you want the game to include the manual and/or the box.

i tried the original PSX version, later on the PC (back in 2009) then dolphin and now testing the dreamcast version
so far the gamecube its my favorite
I do like that version alot. A bit darker but works very well

My biggest gripe with the PC version is that it doesn't allow d-pad support. I've always played the OGs with the d-pad and playing with joysticks is difficult for me. I am however confident that the upcoming Classic Rebirth patch will fix this like it did for PC version of Dino Crisis.
Services and programs like Joy to Key allow you to tie macros to your controller so it is very much possible to play it like that. I played a couple PC titles like that and it works wonders
@@Kelphelp I tried mapping with JoyToKey but I can't run and turn with the d-pad. I can run in a straight line but she stutters when I turn making it impossible to play correctly.
@@daveweaver3886 Hmmm guess in instances it isn't perfect then. It did work for me as well as using a Steam Controller but other instances I could for sure see a problem.
