FYI, current Garlic OS files does't fit on stock paritition sizes. Stock size of Misc partition is 9 MB and garlic files are greater. Using Linux partition manager I was able to resize all the paritiions and make it fit after shuffling. Not sure the best solution for general users.
It took me awhile to figure this out but on the stockOS and SD card when you put that in a computer and open the ROMs partition the saves are actually not in the individual console folders. In the main list of console folders there is another folder called saves. Then when you open that there is a list of consoles. and within that are your save files that show up in the 5 saves lots on the stock OS. In the main game directory of folders it is true that there are .sav files that appear next to the Rom in the files list but I dont know what they are. I have some for games I never really played but maybe I just opened them. In the one game I have been playing the .sav file in the main directory for me had a time stamp that just didnt match my most recent save. It wasn't until I found this other folder that I found my save. I also notice it is a .0svs file. So I am crossing my fingers I can carry that over to Garlic OS.

I don't like wasting technology and material .. so: Can't you configure the underlaying Linux to avoid writes to the 'crappy' included card? Maybe then even run it as 'ro' and redirect all writes lilke savegames, recent lists and savestates to the 2nd sd card. For example by using bind-mounts. I would rather buy one high-endurance 128GByte card instead of two smaller standard sd cards for the same price or even a bit less, which would then be sufficient.. and the of course use a flash friendly filesystem like f2fs or at least exFAT on the 128GByte high-endurance card.
Não entendi pq baixou o sistema original. Você já não o tinha de fabrica? Então se eu deixar como está , e comprar um outro cartão só para o GarlacOs, irá funcionar os dois sistemas tranquilamente? Obg pelo tutorial.
At first, I had trouble getting everything to work with Garlic OS. I had to rename the PS1 folder to PS. I may have had to rename other folders as well. I discovered on the PS games that I had to move all the files out of the folders they were in. But then Garlic OS reported no games in the PS folder. I tried moving some jpg files to the images subfolder and removing some special characters from file names. Finally, Garlic OS was able to see all the PS games. All the RG35xx PS games in the 64gig distribution seem to work except for Suikoden II. For some games, I had to turn on "integer scaling" and get a copy of the PS1 BIOS for them to run at full speed. I couldn't find any BIOS files on the original RG35xx SD card. Not all arcade games I have tried work. I am trying to see what I can do about that. Is it possible to change emulators? I also had some problems with the CPS stuff. I want to run some Sinclair Spectrum games, but some of these games require keyboard input to start. Not sure what to do about that. I think that Garlic OS user interface could be a little more user-friendly. I would like to have sub-folders. If a game distribution has 4 files then it will list all 4 files in the menu, and only one of them will work. It would be nice to be able to zip up PS games, although I don't know if there is enough system memory for that to work. I would like to run PSP games, but the system might not be able to handle it. I saw that another OS was running PSP games with difficulty.

If your use case is that you just want to upgrade the SD cards to better ones what can’t I just copy the content of the old SD cards onto my computer. Format the new SD cards to Fat 32, drag the files off my computer onto the new SD card, plug the SD card back into the device and call it a day?
Nope. If it were that simple I wouldn't have wasted my time doing it like this lol
need help locating that rar file with the win32 disk imager
the google drive link was flagged as a trojan by windows defender just a heads up. For that reason i used only used garlic os, also can you do another video on how to skin garlic os?
when using Garlic OS is there support for external control pads - as i cant find a way to do so - i can use external control pad on the stock OS but not on garlic
I don't believe so yet
Any chance you might know why my device boots to the main menu then goes black. The LED shows it is still on but nothing happens. Was working fine for about a week. Tried installing new firmware on new SD card but still same results.
That's not something I've seen. Might try in one of the subreddits for these devices. Good luck!
yeah i tried to install garlic os and it didnt work. it bricked my system, so now i have to use this guide to hopefully restore it to stock os. very annoying
Are gold v cards required to secure the files?
Amazing channel!👏👏👏👏
This feels very complicated. I just want to move everything from the stock sd card. Is there an easier way?
Is there a way of buying the SD cards with garlic OS on them because I do not know how to use a PC and I've got a few Anbernic and powkiddy handheld devices including the RG35XX 🙏🏽
It's literally a step by step video bro 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Where can i get games filtra ?
I accidentally deleted my games to stock sd card when I was updating to garlic OS, I was wondering if the games in SD2 is a back up one if you lose games accidentally on SD1?
did you find the fix or something bevause i have the same problems, i lost all my roms.
@@HayBaylers there are some roms you can still play on your sd2 card including gb to gba games but i not the other roms especially the mame and arcade ones which is the good ones and ps
My unit won't charge at all. Won't turn on either. Any resources you know of to troubleshoot? I took the unit apart and did unplug and plug back up the battery. Still nothing.
Make sure you're using a pretty basic charging. PD chargers won't work on it.
@@shanecraigtech It's usb c right? I'm just using a 2amp brick with usb c cable.
Any suggestions for Mac users? I want to move to a new SD card and add more ROMs to my SD card.
search garlic os on youtube, theres a guy who has the whole walkthrough for mac and pc
Sorry, I haven't touched a Mac computer in years
@@shanecraigtech cool story bro
I just inserted two the stock SD card it cam with and then backed it up onto a hard drive - I'm stuck at the adding more games. I just think it can be added to the second SD but not sure. I will search if you haven't already found.
@@blu_lasky5033 I figured I’d give it a month or so to see if anyone does a How To video and search again. I haven’t done anything to it since.
I don't like wasting technology and material .. so:
Can't you configure the underlaying Linux to avoid writes to the 'crappy' included card? Maybe then even run it as 'ro' and redirect all writes lilke savegames, recent lists and savestates to the 2nd sd card. For example by using bind-mounts. I would rather buy one high-endurance 128GByte card instead of two smaller standard sd cards for the same price or even a bit less, which would then be sufficient.. and the of course use a flash friendly filesystem like f2fs or at least exFAT on the 128GByte high-endurance card.
Arcade doesn’t work correctly on garlic os
after 8 months still useful although with ew stock-garlisOS EN, however mines dont have any saves(check both), but i will take it. SUBSCRIBE
thank you that's very helpful
But this is not dual boot, there is no option at start up to select which OS to run, Is just a boot of each SD. This is what I understand.
it was kind of weird, I didn't need to format the roms drive it just was working at least at a glance.
nvm, I'm back because the update really makes the roms partition smaller as a 'fix'.
Não entendi pq baixou o sistema original. Você já não o tinha de fabrica? Então se eu deixar como está , e comprar um outro cartão só para o GarlacOs, irá funcionar os dois sistemas tranquilamente? Obg pelo tutorial.
As said in the title and in the video, I was moving to a new card because the one it came with failed.
I saw that another OS was running PSP games with difficulty.
you are amazing dude .. can u please help me ! My RG35xx when i boot it , it just shows the logo of ambernek then the screen be black . what is the problem can you please help me ?
If I want to just get a new sd card can I just highlight and drag to the new sd card and pop it in and it works or is it more difficult than that?
The process is what I show in this video
This is very helpful. However, quota has exceeded for us to download the Firmware :(
that was my problem i didnt back anything up i formatted the sd card like a noob now it wont boot up
Only do what I'm doing. If you're doing extra stuff you don't see here you're likely making a mistake.
Thank you sir♥️
The thing is i never saved the saved files form the stock SD Card :( Please help me with this one :( ive got no games at all :(
I can't tell you where to get games.
How do you remove the stock micro SD card? it seems hard to remove?
Just push it in and it should pop out
@@shanecraigtech Initially, it seemed to be stuck.
