Thank you Jo you are always in help for the community! For the H700 I just keep backup of my roms, bios and saves on my PC. Flash a new firmware and delete folders that contain that data and just coppy the back up or move the back up items to their corresponding folders on the freshly flashed sd. Just make sure the folder names for systems and art correspond to the firmware (NES -> FC for example moving from stock to knulli). It takes some space on you main machine but reduces the time of new installation or moving to another CFW.
I bought an R4 gamecart off of Amazon recently (which comes with a cheap 32GB MicroSD card preloaded with a bunch of games), and I was wondering how I should handle replacing the cheap 32GB MicroSD card with a branded 32GB MicroSD card. Cloning the entire disk is a great idea, and it helps for more than just Retro Handhelds, it helps for NDS/3DS gamecarts too! I also copied the files off of the cheap MicroSD card onto my computer before cloning too just in case. Great video!
Only two options unfortunately - follow my setup guide for those devices to flash new firmware to a new SD card or overwrite existing, or use modified stock OS.
One note I will add: If you purchase a same size sd card, it might not actually be the same size. My 64gb sandisk sd card is actually 59gb, so I can't clone my SD card, which is so annoying. Don't run into the same issue I did.
what if you want to have a backup image on your pc ? i used win32 disk imager for both scenarios, made a backup of an 128gb sd crossmix os, then copy that backup to an 256gb sd... thanks, for the video
Thank you for sharing the process of cloning the microSD card for the Retro Handhelds. I have purchased branded microSD cards recently, and wanted to clone the original contents from the microSD card that came along with the handheld. However, I intend to also update the stock firmware to the latest edition. May I know what are the advisable processes and steps to update the stock firmware with the latest version to the new branded micrSD card first, and then only clone the contents (i.e. ROMs, save games, etc) to branded microSD card with the latest stock firmware version?
Just used mini tool partition free I select copy on the fat32 partition called (i) 1.2gb then select destination to the 45gb free space which created the same folder marked J after you press done on the pc select the ( I ) folder and copy the files to the new space and delete Now on mini partition click on the old folder 1.2gb and select hide drive apply and now you have 43gb space Quick fix so far tested in sp model so the H model should be the same
Not much needed there, it's the same as my Starter Setup guide for those devices, except using modified stock's image: github.com/cbepx-me/RG35xx-P-RG35xx-H-Modification/releases
Alaways found your video articles always helpful and informative! Is there any guide picking the right SD card? Got a sandisk ultra A1 but getting stutters in dolphin, wondering what type of SD Card is good for ROMs, hopefully the info is in this video? If not that could be a good content!
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds yes I tried moving the Rom to internal storage and the stutter is gone. Also happens on NetherSX2. N64 and below works fine though so I'm thinking it's a speed issue?
I have more than 60 GB free on the card, but when I go to extend partition, I can't add it. What am I doing wrong? Addition: I wanted to transfer my 64 GB SD card from the Anbernic RG35xx SP to a 128 GB card.
If I'm just moving game roms from a small sd card to a bigger, is it better and quicker to clone or just cut and paste. Reason I'm asking is because I have roms installed on sd card in my retroid pocket 4 pro and iv ordered odin mine 2 and a 1tb sd card which I want to put games onto that when it arrives
your best hope is to just run "RG35XXH-V1.1.3-EN64GB-240614" (aka the last 64GB rom image.) now that anbernic pulled the 1.1.4 64gb Img., best to use the 1.1.3 img until 1.1.5 come out. ( we hope soon)

Doesn’t work I finally managed to clone it took over a hour I insert the card my device doesn’t boot up nothing works not Rufus not win32diskimager and disk genius doesn’t work either is there another way 😅
My dude, that's 8 comments in an hour - I'm not sitting by waiting to help people, holy moly some patience. I tried reading through the comments and they're all super jumbled and you didn't say what device or firmware you're trying to do this with.
Note: I don't have any Mac devices, I can't help you, but a user says Applepi-Baker on Mac works. So you can try that.

That white RG351p looks so good!
I know it's my favorite. 😊
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Starts cloning Switch SD cards, opens TH-cam and Joey’s video pops up lol.

Congrats on 30k subs brother
Earned my sub! I just hopped into the market and got a Trimui Smart Pro. So excited to try it out as my first device.
Great video! Disk genius is amazing.
thanks excellent video joey - this will come in handy 👍
Thank you Joey 🙏
A guide for the H700 devices would be really useful. I've seen one process for doing it, and it is not for people who are not tech-adept.
Only two options unfortunately - follow my setup guide for those devices to flash new firmware to a new SD card or overwrite existing, or use modified stock OS.

Why won’t it work with the H700 device cards?

ughhhh, pretty sure my sd card is already defective because I get error messages. It wont even copy certain files using file explorer alone.
Just used mini tool partition free
I select copy on the fat32 partition called (i) 1.2gb then select destination to the 45gb free space which created the same folder marked J after you press done on the pc select the ( I ) folder and copy the files to the new space and delete
Now on mini partition click on the old folder 1.2gb and select hide drive apply and now you have 43gb space
Quick fix so far tested in sp model so the H model should be the same
Once you've cloned it to a more reliable card, can you then use that card in other retro handhelds as well?
@@JoeysRetroHandheldscan we get a video guide on how to install modified stock OS. on to 128gb or bigger sd/tf cards for the H700 line?

That shouldn't cause stutters in Dolphin unless it's dying, does it stutter if you move the game to the internal storage and play from there?
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds yes I tried moving the Rom to internal storage and the stutter is gone. Also happens on NetherSX2. N64 and below works fine though so I'm thinking it's a speed issue?

I'm running into the same issue. When I go to extend, it won't show an option for the remaining GBs like in this video.
omg started mine now. 5 hours til completion wtf
Does this work for MacBook? When I download disk genius it says it application can't be opened

would work with an anbernic rg35xxsp?
Nope.
@JoeysRetroHandhelds Is there now a solution for the RG35xx SP to transfer the data to a larger card in a meaningful way?
❤
Will this work on new 16gb firmware for the 35xxH and sp model trying everything so far it won’t expand the 64gb card
Nope, that's why I put that section in the video that it doesn't work with the XX series of devices.
You can't expand Anbernic's firmware for those.
your best hope is to just run "RG35XXH-V1.1.3-EN64GB-240614" (aka the last 64GB rom image.) now that anbernic pulled the 1.1.4 64gb Img., best to use the 1.1.3 img until 1.1.5 come out. ( we hope soon)

@@jasonvoor480 hi.
i think i found a way to expand on rg35xxsp.
(16gb for os, rest for roms, single card setup).
thank you.
