    This way of texturing reminds me so much of the Darksiders series. Very clearly handdrawn but still very polished. Such a cool style

    Would you ever recommend using a mask layer workflow for the manual handpainting part? I think I got too coddled by the non-destructive workflows that I get hesitant trying out paint layer workflow. I rarely use the eyedrop tool.

I amd very much inspired by the stylized look you got in marmoset and would like to play around with some of my 3d models too in tht look. i have no idea how you did the aO in painter it was so fast over it like was it a generator a black mask how was it added?

    • @semicolor
      @semicolor 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is very old but for everyone still wondering - he made a new fill layer with a color, then masked the layer with black and on the mask itself added another fill layer that he put the AO map in and added a levels filter on top with invert checked.
      With the mask setup you can use the levels to fine tune your AO map, and because it masks a color you can always change and tweak that to whatever you like your AO color to be.

    • @jchave7
      @jchave7  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thank you! Most of that is just by constantly color picking. I tend to color pick around the edges if stokes to capture the transition color between what I paint and what was already there! Hope that helps!

    hey I have a question. There's a 'New' brush blending mode in painter, called lighten. It's supposed to mimic photoshop. Have you looked into it? there's a brush called 'basic hard pressure' which is using it. What's your opinion on it?

    Hey I don't know much about marmoset but I wanted to ask you how do you make that program look like the border line of the model, it is very cartoonish and looks great.
    Is it a plugin? or do you activate something in the camera?

    • @jchave7

      I'm trying to learn actual from-scratch material painting, and I gotta say the fact that 1/3 of this video shows him actually painting on the model (and not just parametrically texturing the entire thing) makes it the most 'hand painted' thing I've seen on SP.
