    The Fj62 is prettier and plenty capable offroad.

    I have an early 1991 model fj80 with the optional no 3rd row, no sunroof and no sliding 3rd row window. (the 3rd row was not just taken out, was never in the vehicle from factory) My fj80 has the same engine and trans as a fj62. But actually I really like the 3fe. Its easy to work on and rarely lets me down. the 3fe reminds me of the 22re engine and it does not have head gasket issues.

    My two cents- I own one of each: a '96 fj80 with the 4.5 1fzfe, and I worship that beautiful engine and the beast of a suspension. The '89 fj62 is a classic LC for sure and capable, just not as comfortable and rock-solid as the fj80 tank.

    • @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser
      @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. Agreed. As the 91-92 FJ80s had the same 3FE engine and it lacks power. Your FZJ80 also has the A343F transmission which changed mid 1995.
      In my book, the 1995-97 are the best of the 80s.
      Last week I did a comparison of a 94 to a 95 FZJ80 if you wanr to see side by side differences:

    The fj62 loo.ks so much better in my opinion. It's just dated and the engine isn't enough for modern day DD.

    Love the comparison! This video helped me convince my wife we needed and 80 to add to our LC fleet 100 & 200. Picked up a PNW 95 moon glow 3x locked cloth interior with 190k in Portland over the weekend 🤘🏽😃 Keep the cruiser vids coming!

    I'm jealous of your collection! In January I bought a 95 Emerald Green triple locked 80 for 12k, with 188k miles, head gasket was already done so I figured 9k plus the HG and triple lockers I got my money's worth. Spent 17 years in NC before coming to Illinois. Chassis is mostly clean, there is surface rust. Body is rust free and paint is in great condition. I've baselined it and now getting her leather seats recovered as well. Hopefully next year I can get the frame and underside repainted and ready for 25 more years of service! Weekend driver and stored for the winter of course.

      Nice! That was my OG Landcruiser, a 95 Emerald green. Its the vehicle I missed the most. Bought it new in New Hampshire, no tax, for 42k. Put 60000 miles on it and sold for 35k a few years later and got a 98 100 series.
      So 2 years ago, went on the hunt for a FJZ80 again...
      Look into Eastwood chassis paint. Wire brush and if its just surface, you could probably do it yourself with their inhibitor and then satin OEM finish.
      You got a deal for a 3x and 188k miles!

    what suspension are you running on the FJ62?

  • @spencerpatterson3579
    @spencerpatterson3579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First I would say NIGHT SHADOW PEARL (dark blue) with gray interior.
    Second, is this the FJ80 that was for sale on IH8MUD, several months back?
    Did you ever sell it? The video was really good.

      Dark Shadow pearl is a really nice color on the Cruiser. Yes put it for sale, but my daughter was upset as she wants to drive it as her first car/truck.

      The tires are 35/12.5/15LT
      On 15 x 8 Mickey Thompson wheels. I did put 1.25 spacers in the back to clear the drum, and front disk didn't need it.

    Ughh... I love the features of the 80 series but it's just not a nice a looking car. That 62 though. Gorgeous! Awesome collection!
    EDIT: I should rephrase. Your 80 is gorgeous but stock there is no comparison.

    • @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser
      @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The stock 80 with the inset wheels, when its got those big fender flares... just was missing. But lifted, bigger wheels and spacers changes it. It's amazing what changing the wheels and stance of a car can do. Trucks higher, sports cars lower, but within a tasteful distance.

    Love the front end of the FJ62 but the FJ80 is the king of all Land Cruisers IMO. How much did you pay for Otis if you don’t mind sharing? I’m hunting for my own 80 at the moment.

    • @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser
      @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had this 80 a while. I added some equipment to it, front bar, lights... and did the head gasket maintenance. But a 3x locked clean FJ80 (1995-1997) can go mid 30s for under 175k miles. That to me is a 9/10.
      But you can find a 6 or 7/10 which would have 200k+, not perfect paint, front seats worn (you can always re- upholster) and non locked for 10-15 range. You can add ARB lockers if its not factory locked.
      Always expect a 3k premium on factory lockers.

    • @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser
      @TheGreenMachineLandcruiser  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FJ62 just sold for 27k
      The 80 I got 3 years ago, and I added ALOT to it, did the head gasket maintenance, but paid 15k, but likely worth 30s now.
      It is triple locked.
