No, it doesn't smell in the vehicle, but my top is always off.
Maybe its leaking from your headers?

its a city car, u cannot cross a river with a gasoline engine with the spark plugs cables behind the wheels without protection

The FJ is so tall, it can cross 3 feet of water. And deeper, I would not be interested in crossing!
Besides, those 40" tires may actually float and act like a Ferry boat paddles.
