As a New Englander, AWD is a must. And as basically an AWD GTI, this thing is awesome. And it looks way cooler than the GTI without turning heads all the time.
Hey man first off I want to say great job with the video! I have been in the VW community for many years so I know a lot of about these cars. People don’t buy the R32 for speed. You buy it for the beautiful Vr6 and it’s handling capably. The Mk4 R32 is the more desirable out of the R32 to buy. When it first can out it had less power then the STI and the EVO of the day but could keep up with both cars on a track due to it superior handling. I have picked the R32 over the newer golf R for one reason it’s a drivers car. It doesn’t have all the new crazy Technology that limits you in the new Golf R, you can feel the road through the steering wheel, the manual transmission in the Mk4 is really nice and the car holds it’s value way more then the new Golf R. I do agree the new Golf R is way faster and easier to tune. It just doesn’t have the same presence as a R32. Tens of thousands of Golf R have been made but on 10,000 R32 were brought to the US between the Mk4 and MK5 R32. My R32 get around 28 highway when I’m not beating in the car and when I’m having fun I get around 19. I had a supercharged R32 and I also got the same fuel economy with that car. So it can have pretty good fuel economy. And in Europe the R32 did come in 4 door. We just never got the option here sadly. Once again great job with the video and keep it up man.

You can get it in 5 door?, you buy the r32 for the engine and the noise. I think the mk1 is better looking and rarer. If you want more power and you can afford it strap a supercharger on the car.
Your mpg is bad because you have a lead foot :) i have both , ed 30 gti and the r32 , the r32 will do 30 on a run the same as a stage 1 gti, I'm keeping the r32 because it sound great , gti will be sold soon.
If you think the gti is enough, then my advice is buy the gti. every metric on the stat sheet says buy a gti or a modern golf R. If you have driven one, or have a friend, then you know why you want a r32. this is a heart over head car, and even then you'll be tempted towards a lobotomy.

you forgot about the reliability of the vr6 too
in germany we got 4 door r32 's ... 😄
You can get it in 5 door?, you buy the r32 for the engine and the noise. I think the mk1 is better looking and rarer. If you want more power and you can afford it strap a supercharger on the car.
Not in the US market. 2dr and DSG is the only option.
Cleanest r32 mk5 I seen
Basically a mini Toyota Sienna, nice 👍
With paddle shifters! Lol
Your mpg is bad because you have a lead foot :) i have both , ed 30 gti and the r32 , the r32 will do 30 on a run the same as a stage 1 gti, I'm keeping the r32 because it sound great , gti will be sold soon.
Fake news - I have a 5 door R32. Awesome family car
5000 made only has own badge on steering wheel collectors thing
You don't get 5 doors in the US!
If you think the gti is enough, then my advice is buy the gti. every metric on the stat sheet says buy a gti or a modern golf R. If you have driven one, or have a friend, then you know why you want a r32. this is a heart over head car, and even then you'll be tempted towards a lobotomy.
Character is certainly a factor when deciding between the 2!
My dream car 😙😙😙😙😙😙
I have the 2008 had it from new, 2 door is the only way.
Why’s that?
@@YourOldFriendJames Don't know if my last reply made it or not,. The 2 dr just looks sporty and has nice body lines. The 4 dr just looks like a family car, the body don't flow as well. Like what they did to the Dodge Charger by adding 2 drs to it. (was my other post deleted because I bad mouthed the Charger?)
I didn’t see the comment about the charger 🤔..but yeah aesthetically 2 doors looks 10x better. 4 doors is a bit more practical if you indeed have a family.
@@YourOldFriendJames I have been in Europe since 1989, right now in Belgium since 2016, before in Germany
Had a GTI MK5, was good enough. But have a MK5 R32 is just even better, all round.
Can you elaborate why it’s better? Curious on your perspective.
@@YourOldFriendJames Driving dynamics with confidence especially in the wet condition. The steering wheel feed back is heavier to me but not too heavy. Chassis is much more solid as weight helps. And last but not least, sounds
Ah yes, the sounds.
Mine is boosted to 503bhp.
It's another world.
I smoke crotch rockets, Vettes, Bentleys, and countless Dodge 392s from digs and rolls.
It's been 6 years boosted and I'm still amazed!
Built the motor up in my kitchen too lol😉👍🏾!
That’s sick! It probably sounds so good too 🤤
@@YourOldFriendJames yes it does and spits huge flames in the warmer months too lol!
It's a freakin beast yet drives better than stock when just commuting.
I get better mileage on the highway as long as I don't lay into the throttle lol.
BTW keep doing your thang brotha!
Subscribed😉👍🏾!
@@TURBOBEATZZZ thank you, excited to have you!
@@YourOldFriendJames you bet!
I’m new here and you just earned a new sub bro keep up the Great work man
U don’t buy a r32 for the bhp mate u buy cos it’s in a class of its own I own the mk5 DSG and book fuck the r and the gti
Lemme save you 8 minutes, the answer is yes and the reason is at 4:16
2 doors better than 4
How so?
Bro the Golf MK5 is the most ugliest Golf and the Golf MK6 is way more beautiful.
Beauty, as they say, “is in the eye of the beholder”.
Nah, MK6 has ugly taillights. MK7 > MK5/MK4 > MK3 > MK6
one word my friend.. VR6
My R32 is 5 door and it's way more fun than GTI, plus the sweet sound with Miltek exhaust 🙂
They do sound amazing. Are you in the UK?
The MK4 GOLF R32 much better with a six speed manual 👌😎
Yo do NOT disrespect Senna like that
my favourite car😊👍👍👍
You can opt to get 4 in Europe
Not fully awd! Mainly front, it uses rear when it needs to 😁
Mate: It's not a V6. Stop calling it a V6.
Never selling mine
Fuel consumption?
@@JAKE92381 its fine sitting on the drive way lol
Lol you call yourself an enthusiast? You don’t understand anything about the R32.
Enlighten me 🙃
1:02 im dead
😂
Umm, not looking like that they're not 😬
R32 all day
With nasty wheels on it god they look awful and they do a 5 door ??
You really need to use a camera with image stabilization. Selfie cam on your phone....not good, they usually don't have image stabilization. Get a gopro
Thanks for the feedback!
Any go pro you’d specifically recommend?
DJI osmo Action camera. It has all the GoPro features just not as expensive and it also has a front facing screen so you can make sure you are framed properly.
@@ThreePedalGarage I JUST ordered a Hero 8 last night 😬
Gti, I have had the mk 5 and mk6 and I have been able to kick the r32 butt. Unless your putting a turbo in it, it's not worth it.
From a performance stand point I totally agree.
auburn WA??
Correct!
4 door golf's are ugly.
