    DS9 remains to be best trek to date. Take away any one of those characters and the whole group dynamic would have been affected for the worse. Even recurring guests, like Garak, were awesome. Quark was always a surprise, you were never too sure if he'd screw someone over or save the day! Every character had their arc - it was criminal it didn't get a 'big screen' follow up , a move trilogy or something of the like. I could go on ad infinitum, but hats off to you all, from a very grateful Trekkie.🖖

      I could not agree more. TNG proved it was possible for individual episodes of Berman Trek to surpass TOS, but DS9's broad, strong central ensemble, the unprecidented importance of its expanded supporting cast, and it's easy handed approach to serialized storytelling have enabled it to age so much better than the other series.

    Quite simply the very best series Star Trek has had. The amount that it did for the universe in fleshing out several different species' cultures, histories, politics, and public figures is unparalleled. Many people critiqued it for not going to strange new worlds, calling it a weakness. They did, in fact visit several over the course of the series and I think that being on a space station was its strength. It had the largest cast of recurring guest stars whose characters were able to be fleshed out fully, almost to the point of bringing them on level with a main character. It is so rewarding to watch this series over and over again because of all the different relationships between the main cast and recurring guest stars and also each other. This also was the first Trek series to show Starfleet officers going through a war, instead of narrowly avoiding one or talking about the Federation-Romulan, Federation-Klingon, Federation-Cardassian wars in the past. It opens up so many different topics, questions and ideas to explore. Many thanks to all of those that worked on this show!

    I'm 47 and love every Star Trek that has been made... that said, DS9 (hands down) was the best of all of them. The writing, character development and chemistry of the cast was absolutely fantastic. Every episode I watched, it felt like the characters were part of my family - no kidding on this. I now have a 10 year old daughter and when we have time, we sit down and watch DS9 from the first episode... and it actually holds her attention - lol. I adored this show and also loved the fact that the captain was Black and that he had a deep and loving connection with his Black son (which one hardly ever sees -- -- even in 2020). I will love this show until the end of my days. Thank you so much for this show!

      @dashfatbastard 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@JaredWeiler Auberjonois had a very full life, a wonderful family, and a successful stage career in regional, and soon after, Broadway theatre long before he did Trek. He was a favorite of Robert Altman, and worked in his early classics. Every child grows up hearing his voice in "The Little Mermaid", he had his iconic sitcom role in "Benson", and he was beloved by all of us. For a working actor, he couldn't have asked for more, but still, he was the soul of DS9, and his loss is painful.
      Aron, however, is so much sadder. He'd spent so much of his time after DS9 in poor health or recovering from procedures, which held him back. Fifty is far too young an age to say goodbye, and when Malissa Longo speaks of him, you know how well he was beloved and who misses him the most. His son is barely of age, and as most of us know, it's only after we are grown that we truly get to know our parents. His loss bespeaks of all the potential the world loses when a kind and talented person has far too short a time on this world.

    I’d be very happy if someone could tell Ira that as a Star Trek nut, I think the DS9 pilot is one of the best Trek episodes made, and the best Trek pilot. The characters are so strong, the Wolf 359 opening is so cleverly incorporated, and Sisko’s journey is so well done. I love the idea of these prophets being lifeforms to non Bajorans, the look and feel of the show is perfect, and it just fits into Trek, in my opinion perfectly. There is a lot of hope, plus Sisko as a man who adores his family is powerful. I always loved Kira’s entrance too, plus the way Sisko is able to respectfully and tactfully diffuse things before they can heat up in their first meeting is so refreshing. He doesn’t patronise her, and the getting his hands dirty moment is nicely done. For me this episode just works, and would work well with some jigging as a movie script.

    I so appreciate Ira's push on realizing the vision he had for DS9, making the serialization work, having characters who grow as thinking and feeling beings and making such a step forward for Trek as a whole.
    I also want to reiterate the point that Nana made about Sid and the way he interviews folks on Sid City - it is just completely outstanding. Folks come in gobsmacked and leave feeling they were heard and appreciated - just fantastic.
    Armin's work as Quark was exceptional, and I loved the questions he asked and answered in the panel, sharing that love the cast and crew had for each other - and that really showed in the final product that we see on the screen.

    It's strange because my life has been very different from Kira's, obviously for like...sci fi reasons, but also because I don't have that experience with violence or oppression (many real people do). I still felt a lot of her emotional beats on a very personal level. Maybe it was because she was so emotionally raw and reactive. She cared so much and was trying so hard, but she always had to balance that against the toughness and practicality needed to make things happen, and Nana Visitor just threw herself into that emotional struggle with, as far as I could tell, no restraint or reservation. Seeing a character who could be and had to be tough, but who still felt things deeply and more importantly SHOWED it was important for me at a time in my life when I struggled with the intensity of my own emotions.

    It’s a shame how few subs and views these guys have. I know there are millions of trekkers/trekkies out there. So many people would love the content of this channel. We all need to figure out a way to get the word out on the 7th rule! I mean look at the quality of guests these guys get and only a couple thousand People are seeing it! 😔. It’s just not right. Anyway sorry for the downer comment. cheers and live long and prosper guys! 🍻🖖🏼

      I often feel that DS9 has always been Star Trek's best kept secret, and one we're a bit privileged to be in on. It doesn't get the same fanfare as other shows, which is a shame. :(

    I love DS9. The writing and cast are phenomenal. The characters were well developed which made it easy for the audience to connect with them. While scripts dealt with morality and social issues that are relevant today, they were never preachy. Kudos to the writers for their respect for the intelligence of their audience. Some of my favorite scenes were the father-son dynamic. The Ben-Jake, Rom-Quark-Nog and Worf-Alexander storylines are key to setting DS9 apart from the other ST series. Though I love them all, DS9 is my happy place.

    I have to say I love Deep Space Nine. Cirroc I just re-watched the episode, nor to the strong is the battle. I believe it’s called. It’s the episode where Jake and Bashir go behind enemy lines and help out with medical. And just the way you portrayed Jake in that, it was incredible. You did a wonderful job. What did you need to do to prepare for that? Then I rewatch valiant… And the way Jake handled that situation was much, calmer, much more I don’t know, but it’s a stark difference handling that battle situation versus what he did before. And again, I just wanted to say you did a great job with both.
