For 77k, I'd get a camry, rav4, whole home generator, chest freezer, and 1/2 cow from a local butcher.

For $77K: I’d tell the dealership to “Go To Hell, keep that car and keep paying the “Note” on it every month until they lower the price to a realistic level or else …Go Bankrupt”! Don’t pay these rip-off prices!
I bought my first new car in 1965. It was Falcon Futura 4 door. It had a 6 cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. It cost $2400.00. Yes, that is right. It was not $77,000.00. Gasoline was 25 cents a gallon. One guy filled your gas tank, one guy checked your tire pressure, one guy washed your windows, and one guy checked your water and oil. You got free dishes for filling the tank. They had free maps, pencils, pens, and pins.
My mom bought a new Ford Maverick , think it was 1970 or 71, for only $1995. Ford had billboards and commercials everywhere showing the price/car. It was a decent no frills car, no carpet, just an AM radio and 3 speed manual on the column.
...things cost more than they did 60yrs ago?...ya don't say...
Bring 'em back today. Ford could sell MILLIONS of them. Cars today are absolutely STUPID with so many damned bells and whistles.
My first new vehicle was in 1974. A Ford E100 window van. 300 cu in six with a three speed manual transmission. AM radio. Out the door cost with tax and everything was $3000. Ran great and very reliable. Gas mileage was not so good but still a great vehicle.

@@martydibergi5228 I bet you hate it when people talk about teachers being over paid because they ignore the fact that you were not paid for summer vacation unless you taught summer school to kids who failed algebra, trig, or kids who wanted to get a leg up on calculus. Never took the last one. Differential equations were not needed for music.
Shows us a Lexus that is the Lexus version of the Rav4 prime. Same car for 77k instead of 43k. The Rav4 gets 45 miles on electric charge and averages 40mpg in hybrid mode. Scotty needs to do more research on Toyota's modern line-up.

My 2008 Lexus IS 350 is awful on gas, but with 210k on it only issues is exhaust leak. Lexus quality is like no other car I’ve driven. My only complaint is the gas mileage, but sm fun to drive, and NEVER worry about it starting or getting me to my next destination. Go Lexus!!!!
I have an 2005 SC430 V8 that still runs like new and gets me about 25 mpgs. Takes premium though.

Thats the new drive out price. If you are ok with used plenty of 1-2 year old car for way way cheaper.
This is the overpriced brand new pricing. You can save tons buying used.

I own a 2022 RX450h FSport. It is the last version with a V6 hybrid combo, and it’s the version before this one. They are remarkably similar and the main difference is the plug in part. I get about 30 mpg, 308 hp, and around 500 miles range.
It handles like a dream, in the Sports mode, very few cars can beat me, and I have more power than I ever need. It has been 100% reliable, and too bad they did away with the V6 in the next gen RX’s, I’m hanging onto my RX as long as I can. Great videos Scotty, and I enjoy them.🎉

I have a 2023 rx350 same style and interior (different color obv) it's a nice car. Wouldn't go electric though
I love the new RX. The grille especially is the best design moves ever by Lexus because the old grille design was pretty hideous.
I live in MA unfortunately, and yes drivers get angry simply because you exist. Definitely spices up the morning commute 😂

@@Ozzy_08x A quick 5 second search of Zillow shows at least 85 homes near me under $150k (yeah I know its not $120, but it was just quick search). I'm about 20 minutes from Tampa, FL which I would say is pretty major.

I'd rather buy a hybrid like that Lexus than buy ANY fully electric cars, but I'd rather buy it used to save money. I can always replace the battery cells.

Not hard to fix but super expensive at this rate it's only the dealer will know how to fix it...regular mechanics aren't too familiar with this new hybrid set up.

That's insane paying that much money for any car.
And the integrated electronics in the dash will be obsolete in three to five years, but incredibly expensive to replace with something that fits, so that's a bonus for people who want to keep a car longer than that.

Exactly! That screams horrible financial decision. If you make 200k this is still almost 50% of your income on a car. Crazy
I drove both the gas version and the hybrid. The hybrid, in my opinion, had so much road noise as to be uncomfortable - I bought the gasoline version. HOWEVER, buyer beware! At certain speeds and with the right air density, the model line emits a low frequency hum that is noticeable and annoying. The service dept. kept the vehicle for four days, drove all of the other same type vehicles on the lot and concluded it is a model issue - they pushed it up to the Lexus engineers (obviously it is an aerodynamic issue - when the car enters the slipstream of another vehicle the sound goes away). So far, a year later, I have not heard a word on a fix. I plan on contacting Lexus myself in June. Hope this helps.
We have a 2015 Lexus Hybrid and still gets 35 mpg around town. We only have 31k miles

My 2002 ES300 w same engine has 182k miles. Synthetic oil changes every 5k miles and just installed new timing belt, 3rd since new. Smooth and quiet. This engine will last well over 300k miles if maintained properly
I have a 2024 RX 350h. It was $10,000 less than the plug in hybrid. I get 34-36 MPG combined. It’s a great SUV!

I've driven one of these (RX350) when I was buying my NX. The ride is extremely smooth, if my garage was wider I'd have definitely bought it over the NX.

It's not worth the price being sold for when nothing has been updated in any serious form in the last 15 years. Lexus has been charging insane prices for outdated things, and while I'm not arguing the reliability aspect; they need to come back down to earth when it comes to the pricing of what they're worth new.
I'm totally clueless, what kind of outdated aspects are you referring to? As a layman, to my eye, they look sharp and seem to have the features I'd want in any new car (coming from a 2010 Impala), but I'm likely missing a bunch.
The whole car was redesigned, the infotainment system was redesigned and the reliability is still there . Not sure where you get your info
Why change a good thing and possibly screw up a great vehicle. It's reliable and the batteries don't wear out right away and you don't have to look for charging stations every 1 to 4 hours.
This tech is from 2021. Not available before that.

Hey Scotty! Would you say the same about the Chevy volt if it had a Toyota emblem? It had an electric range of 35 to 53 miles (on electric mode) then the hybrid system kicked in and at about half the price compared to this Lexus. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

Well said Scotty! My dad was old school he taught us to never buy brand new and to let someone else to pay the depreciation. I always buy cash cars. I have a 2014 Prius hybrid I paid $5500. If I bought new I would be paying 5 times that.

Plug in hybrid is the best. I have ‘21 Prius Prime and over 3+ years averaging 125 mpg. Round trip to work is 50 miles and I average 130 mpg. Will definitely always be a fan of Toyota PHEV.
Definitely looking at one for a second vehicle.
Though that’s still a pretty low MPG for being hybrid.

What do you think about the 2024 Chevy Trailblazer? My mom’s ford fiesta had the clutch die which will cost more to replace than the car is worth so she needs a new car.
There's a guy ( MGuy) on TH-cam that talks about EVs. He tells .. how dangerous they can be if they burn. Car yards don't want them. Takes 6 months or more to sell them. Lose to much money after a year or two. Hertz charged a customer $277 to refuel a Tesla.

With Phevs, should a person be concerned about the age and condition of the gasoline in the tank. I have a friend who only fills his Phev once per month, should he use a fuel stabilizer or conditioner? If so, which product would you recommend? Thank you for your videos. Tony

You do need to worry about plugging in a plug in hybrid... if you are going to drive it like a normal hybrid, get a normal hybrid, it'll get better MPG and cost less than the plug in version never being plugged in.

I have a yr 2020 RX450 hybrid and have had it for 4 years, it’s amazing. Unfortunately Lexus has transitioned to a 4 cylinder turbo now which is concerning, my car has a naturally aspirated V6.

What does The Competition offer ?- the likes of MB, GM, Ford, Kia, etc, - in the same Market Segment & how do they compare with equivalent Maintenance period costs ? This is stolen in ontario canada so often now insurance companies substantially raise premiums. My friends premiums is doubling for his 2023 rx 350h.
Scotty the best thing to do that people that give you the middle finger and honk at you is to wave back at him really hard like you know them and they will stop immediately and think who do they just flip off.

34mpg isn't crap. In good weather our 2020 Maxima will get 32mpg with premium fuel on the interstate running 80mph. Now all things aside the cvt in our Maxima may take a crap any time but it does have low miles on it. But for $77K could put a hell of a lot of new CVT's in, and not have to complexity of a hybrid!

I own a 2023 350h, get 38-40mpg on highway and around 25-30mpg in the city.
The reason why city less than highway because I live in NYC, traffic lights and traffic on each corner.
The problems with hybrid car today is that when u drive more than 60 km/t the electric engine go off and the gasoline engine be weak. Because many did not understand that the manufacture include all horsepower, electric and gasoline in their specifications. And when you drive on highway you get a suprise. The car has only gasoline engine who is not big enough. I know the car manufacturers will make more powerful gasoline engine in hybrid. But still many hybrid has not strong enough gasoline engine.

Just leave out the electric capabilities, keep just the internal combustion engine and I’ll try one!

Scotty you’re a Toyota tech you know the batteries go bad after 8-10 years usually right after the warranty luckily there are upgrades for the older ones I’m sure there will be for these as well

77k?!!! Looks line my old Saturn 99 SL 1 was a great buy. It went well over 400k miles before we got rid of it. Original motor and transmission BTW.
High tech cars are truly awesome. Unfortunately, the are hardly any descent auto mechanics anymore and many of the really good ones are retiring.
