I've been suffering from this for several years; or at least, my symptoms match this condition closer than anything else I've seen.
It's caused by bench pressing and overhead pressing, and once my bar weight starts to get within a certain range, the pain in the elbows becomes searing and I just can't continue. It has stopped my progress for years.
The pain occurs whenever I use my triceps, and triceps-specific exercises dramatically increase the pain.

@@stevebondo6100 This turned out to not be my issue, but I learned it the hard way. I tore my triceps tendon in March while bench pressing. Small tear, but it needed repairing. My physical therapist thinks the tear happened because I had long-term tendonosis (not tendonitis) of the triceps tendon, which weakened it. Untreated tendonitis can turn into tendonosis.
Mark Rippetoe, the well-known weightlifting coach, says that triceps tendonitis is almost unheard of outside of isolated triceps exercises. That jibes with my experience because aggressive Lying Triceps Extensions probably coincided with the flaring up of my elbow pain.

I am suffering from this for 20 years. A arthroscopy was did in 2019, at first I think I was cured but it only improved my condition but not 100%. In this 3 years after the surgery my condition are slowly became worst again. Now I cannot do any bench press, shoulder press or triceps exercices. I had pain in back and biceps exercises also. Very sad when you can't do what you like, and so many years with pain...

I've been doing calisthenics for 4 years now. 6 weeks ago i started training the planche (an exercise where you have your arms fully locked out while all your bodys weight leans on them) 4 of which i trained exesevely. 1 week ago i started having pain right underneeth that bone whenever i fully extended my left arm. Did the exercise today and found that it instantly helped with the pain when the arm was extended.
Thanks alot for the great advice, been a real help.

I'm a baseball player and I've had this issue since my sophomore year of highschool, it started in the summer when i thought i had tendinitis. I'm now a senior in college and still have this problem. Usually the pain is unbearable and won't go away when i start throwing after not doing so for a few days to a week. Once the season is back into a swing and I'm throwing on a consistent basis it begins to reside, as long as I don't over use it. I've learned to deal with the pain and to limit my throwing due to never finding a solution. I'm going to give this a try and hope for the best.

But I don't want to manage it I want to correct it. Thank you .

Have you ever heard of this kind of thing happening to climbers before?

I've just tried this excercise and got a little relief. I've been having my left elbow pain at the posterior side for a year after advancing too quickly with weighted muscle up. I thought i got injury in my triceps tendons so i did a lot of eccentric exercises and it got better with time.
Now I have the pain only when fully extended my elbow, maybe when going from 90% to 100% extended ROM, and the pain is limiting my straight arm strength. I checked it up with a physiotherapist and he advised me to do passively extending with dumbell to get the full ROM back but it's more painful after doing so.
I will do this exercise everyday for a week to see how it goes.

I think this could be the problem I'm having. All of my friends say it's tennis elbow but there are certain things I do that are supposed to hurt when you have tennis elbow, such as chin-ups and they don't bother me at all. I was following a lifting program and decided to add in some triceps extensions. I did those for a little while and came down with the elbow pain. It was very painful on its own at first. Since then, not thinking triceps extensions were the issue, I tried a tricep extension and there was tremendous pain. I now have pain when I try to barbell overhead press or bench press but it's not nearly as bad as the tricep extensions, which I am not trying anymore. I'm going to give this exercise a try. Thanks!

I have been diagnosed iwth tennis elbow but my problems also seem much deeper into the joint capsule and eccentric exercises are aggravating things. i was digging and pulling a tree out of the ground when I first felt the pain. I have difficulty with full extension, flexion, and resisted supination. But the anconeus area is very tender and something feels pinched. No other problems have been found. Is this often misdiagnosed?

My elbow has always felt sensitive while in the front rack position; doing things like clean and jerk or front squats. I got my impingement when I had that same elbow put in a very fast arm bar while grappling in ju jitsu. I feel the elbow was already in a kinda weak state and the armbar, though not over extended, was straightened very quickly and caused injured.

My son fell and hyper extended his elbow during a basketball game two years ago. He thought it was healed a week later but once he began throwing for baseball his pain returned and got worse. He was diagnosed with a growth plate fracture that supposedly went on to heal, but two years later he is still struggling to throw with out pain. Finally the PT thinks it is medial impingement but doctor said surgery is probably the only thing left to try because so far PT hasn’t worked. It only really hurts him when he throws hard and hits that full extension with force. Most other times he doesn’t notice and his range of motion isn’t affected day to day. He really doesn’t want surgery as it would already take him out of his freshman year of baseball and he doesn’t plan to play in college. He could just quit as that is really the only thing it affects, but just wondering if we should pursue the surgery? They have never really seen anything in scans although we haven’t done an MRI, just ultrasounds and X-ray. Surgeon didn’t think an MRI would change diagnosis so wasn’t necessary. I just hate that he has dealt with this for two years from an isolated incident. He is still growing also as his growth plates haven’t closed so we were hoping he possibly could grow out of it and some is caused by quick growth while injured. Just frustrated that conservative treatments haven’t worked when they don’t even see much to treat.
