  • If you are just getting into scale trucks and the trailfinder2, these are some simple ways to improve your performance. There are lots of other tricks out there but these are what I personally use.

    The hobby for me has really grown since the RC4wd Trailfinder2 came out. This is the rig I recommend if you are looking to get started in the hobby.

    I've been into the RC crawling addiction for 4+ years. I retired from work last July so I have a lot of time to spend with my RC addiction. I have the larger true 10th scale crawlers. Not near as much "scale" as I would like. I've been looking into these slightly smaller trucks for awhile. I do have an RC4WD Geland 2 but it's really a rainy day inside crawler. Thanks for the video. Its the exact info I needed today. I think a smaller truck with 1.5 tires will be a TON of FUN!
    I smeel farter now!

    Moving front shackles to rear of spring helps a ton. As suspension compresses axle moves forward, moving shackles to rear makes movement rearward. So axle moves toward rear. Making a spring binder stops tourqe twist. Bind springs together. Like on a real truck spring.

    Something to try you might like with the RC4WD scale shocks... I take the internal spring out, thoroughly clean out the shock, and then put several drops of 80wt shock oil in them. I find it really smooths things out, and with the thick oil, it takes a long time for it to leak out. In fact, I've not had to refill any of them in the past couple of years yet.

    Good video, Josh! On your advice I installed the Gelande2 shock hoops on my TF2 lwb with some 80mm shocks. On the rear, I moved the top of the shocks out 2 holes from the center because the bottoms were catching on the springs. I got the truck at USTE 2018. It came with 3 leaf's per wheel and I've ended up with the shortest one on top with the main and the next one, and it's got a surprising amount of flex. I'm hoping to have enough $ leftover to go to Williston for the whole weekend this February! I hope to see you there!

    Thanks for the informative upload! My C2X is still a work in progress, not hit the trail yet. Got the C2X-specific "basic" RC4WD light kit and the interior roll cage for the 4-door cab on the way. I still need to drill the roof for the Pro-line rack and detail the exterior of the body. Wish they'd release a roll bar or even a headache rack for the C2X utility bed... I may order a styrene bed and try to cut it down similar to how you did in a previous video. Happy holidays, my man!

    Im Feelin Old. I Remember The Tamiya Bruiser. Its Even got stuff the Trailfinders dont have. Like differentials (that can bee spooled by adding a screw). 3 speed tranny, With 2 wheel High 4 wheel high], and 4 wheel low. All metal axles and drivetrain. And a Toyota Hardbody with Interior. Hillariiously the new TrailFinder 3's new chassis, Is narrow in front, and wide out back, Just how the Bruiser was. The Popular Toyota Body is even the same year.
    The TF2 However, looks alot more scale with 1.9 inch rims. Both trucks also have Steering Issues, (for different reasons).
    I Don't Own a Bruiser. But I wanted a leafy, I wound UP with the Limited Edition Blazer. Flipped the steering servo plate around so i can put in the radiator, wich completely solves the steering link angle, and bump steer. Followed your advice for thr shocks and springs, ANd ditched the wheels and tires it came with for Rally rims and bf goodrich off roads.
    And it shifts weight, and bobbles around like A real Blazer would.
    Its not a crawler, But it will do everything my scx10-3 will do, but isn't Meant too. My Trailfnder-2 gets simmilar use, as my lifted TRX-4, with the the WIFI\\ lights, an engine noise, and 5.4 inch tall tiers, Usually towing a trailer, With the Trailfinder on it.
    Why, Because ones fun to drive , because It's fast goes anywhere, and is loud.
    The other one, Is fun as hell to drive, goes more places than it logically should, While using scale parts like the the real thing did..
    I never Understood crawler.
    Aparently I still Don't, I keep turning em into trail trucks LOL
    Loved the vid. It helped.

    Hey Josh.
    I've been binge-watching all your Trail Finder stuff last two days...trying to get ideas. I ordered the special edition BFGoodrich version. It's basically the Marlin underneath with the longbed/Goodrich body. I like the wheels and tires much better than the Marlin.
    I do have different electronic's waiting to go in, different tires and wheels and a long and shortbed with a cab my buddy is painting up for me.
    I'll get...shelve the body , do the motor-drop conversion, install helical cut gears, install a bunch of S&M parts on it ie; shackle reversal, bumpers, high clearance skid and sliders.
    I do have a 2-speed transfer-case I may install.
    Well...back to binge-watching... I'm almost done. Lol

      @RCeveryday  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have some new tf2 content coming this week that’ll be right up your alley. Im not a fan of the motor drop. The used truck I am fixing up had it done and it had no suspension travel because the axle hit the motor.

    Hello, and great job on the video..
    So I have the Marlin Crawler, its is my first RC car since TamaYa came out with the Subaru Bratt hard body, back in 1980, I think? I still have the gear box, a 540 Lesure motor, and a few sealed bearing, not to mention the original radio and receiver, Anyway, so far your channel is the best I have seen, as far as the TF2 trucks are concerned, I will be getting the up grade parts you are recommending, but I was waiting to see if you get the marlin crawler because the shock hoops on the Marlin Crawler look just like the ones you are recommending? I did get the All metal punisher drive shafts and a 2cell Lipo battery. I got the 4Runner body for it, but the 2 Cell battery is to fat, wont work. Well that enough rambling, thank for you channel its been a great help

    great in depth video man...the spacers on the servo i realized i had to do last night at like 1-am in the morning lol..but it did great by making the servo horn raise a bit , with keeping the proper geometry...my question is on the delrin skid by rc4wd that bolts underneath the chassis...when u do that upgrade does it mess with any of the driveshafts or t-case or intermediate shaft?....i believe it doesn't..but i just wanted to ask you BC i'm thinking of getting this for my tf2 mojave and my rc4wd marty xtra cab...any info is greatly appreciated...

    • @RCeveryday
      @RCeveryday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That mount moves things up a little bit but the driveshafts will have enough space left to handle it on the standard tf2. On the xtra cab it creates some issues. The lwb chassis has the carrier bearing so if you raise the t-case you won’t be able to use it and will need a much longer rear drive shaft.
