In some stories, Fenrir was basically adopted by Tyr after loki was imprisoned. as he grew the gods began to fear his strength, thus leading to the tests. The Gods didnt tell Tyr that the last bond was unbreakable, so he sorta got screwed over as well as Fenrir.
InMemoryOfJimmy Played League since season one here and i can confirm, once youe played every matchup, seen every teamfight possible and know every rotation possible, thzats when it gets old. If you find League boring you and are looking for a faster pace higher skill MoBa my recommendation would be Heroes of Newerth.
I was playing ra and when THAT thing named Tyr came he was just playing football with me i couldnt get away with tier 3 sprint,3 stacks of passive(playing ra) and shoes of magi its funny that in romanian "tir" means a big truck and that thing just comes like a truck
Their lore artists seem to have gotten it wrong. They show his left hand getting eaten when the game shows his right hand was eaten. Was i the only one who caught that or what?
Týr is my favorite god from Norse mythology and it made me really happy to see him as one of the good gods of the Norse pantheon in the latest god of war game. Incidentally, my favorite creature from Norse mythology is Fenrir, which is fitting given his shared history with Týr.
In the update notes is written that the mastery level on a god is shown for every player now on the loading screen, golden show also wins/kills/assists.
Looks great, can't wait to try him out. Also couldn't help but notice in the lore segment that he was already missing his hand when he captured Fenrir, and then later it shows Fenrir biting off the wrong hand.
Ares can dps like a boss, if he puts his to it. Problem is, there are but a few players willing to be a tank in low level games, so you are often more useful as a tanky Ares.
Tyr, the embodiment of self-sacrifice, the very pillar of which justice is upheld by, and what determines whether a person is truly a hero, he is a role model as to what we should all be and the only god worth worshipping, hail Tyr for he is justice, the only thing that matters
They need to buff him. He hits 4 times instead 2 for his 1 and his one knocks up again in guard stance. Than he can stun people with his two and he heals for 420 health per enemy hit. And law ringer is a execution and the threshold is at 75%. Than he will be balanced once more.
Edwin Ramirez yea I keep getting recommend videos that are 4yrs old to. I thought this was a new skin at first... i was like wth odyssey just released one..then looked at the date.
The gold skins are released in batches of about 3 per update- and there's about two updates a month, it seems. They're made pretty fast since they're all just recolors, anyways.
No they got the legend right Fenrir Devoured the Right hand in the ancient myth, the art in previous reveals may have been misleading. The actual myth did have fenrir devour the right hand. So the in game model is correct.
maybe not Vamana and Odin, but everyone can agree Melee Brusiers have all had their OP days, most are still OP right now. like Fenrir, Herc, Thor, Tyr (sort of)... You get the point
camera angle changes the whole game my friend. you cant see everything thats happening around you like you would in LoL you just see in front and a little of the sides.. so that makes it harder (or easier in some cases because you can see far ahead). plus the animation of spells can sometimes drastically reduce your visibility in key moments ..
good point there, but these included in the game have much to do with the gods revealed already, for example fenrir fought against odin, was the ally of loki and bit off tyr's hand
Glad to see Tyr, I've been looking forward to him joining the roster, swordlooks a little big and anime-ish though. In my mind he would look more heroic looking with a sword proportional to Freya's, something you could see a real warrior hefting rather than a 14 year old with crazy hair and big eyes.
In Greek mythology, Kratos' or Cratus' (Ancient Greek: Κράτος, English translation: "power") is the son of Pallas and Styx and the personification of strength and power.[1][2] Kratos and his siblings-Nike ("victory"), Bia ("force"), and Zelus ("zeal")-are the winged enforcers (sky tides) of the Olympian God Zeus. He makes an appearance in Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound, in which he is one of the trio that binds the titular Titan, the other two being Hephaestus and Bia.[3] Pasted from Wikipedia
Tyr was known as a god of war (along with Odin and Thor....the Norse where a very war driven people) but in the story where he lost his hand to Fenrir is is suggested that he was a lawful God that appealed to justice, oaths and honor (This is what made him a different god than just a clone of the others). These beliefs about him are from even before Norse mytho. Norse Mythology is awesome! norse-mythology (DOT) org/gods-and-creatures/the-aesir-gods-and-goddesses/tyr/
After reached Plat 1 in Leauge... i found this game , and it is really fun and easy for someone who already knew about MOBA...Now i have 3 games to play DOTA LOL SMITE... NEVER GET BORED
Thank you. You hit the point I was going to make. I may not be the best player but I play alot of League and alot of Smite. There is almost nothing that feels the same. The engines couldn't be more different. Smite is changing their map all the time so there is no way possible that it is the same as LoL's map. LoL isn't even the original, if we are going to be super technical about the history of moba's
Never said it was overly weak, but is very situational... considering every stun that is longer then 1 second is 1.5 seconds, which is only a 25% reduction (considering that practically 90% of the listed CC's are exactly 1 second, don't see much use out of this outside of counterpicking Anubis/Ymir). Ares's "2.5 second ulti" doesn't count, because if you get pulled in, you're getting focused by 5 ulties and will most likely die anyway. Yes, its nice, but it only works on like 10% of the CC's
the point to have the gold skin is only to get that sorda of gold square on the loading screen , so once u have u get som cash skin but still have the golden square and that's it
I'll be honest, I was hoping he'd be similar to jayce (melee and ranged stance). At least that's what I thought when Erez originally said his hand was made into a cannon...it even looks like the concept is still on the model (the wolf head gauntlet)
As dota 2 players can switch between hon fairly easily due to champion similarities, I've longed for a day lol would a an equivalent "brother" and this game is pretty much it, not so much champion wise but the way they tell stories and hero mechanics are similar enough for me to jump on board. Tyr is like the child of tryndamere and Riven freakin awesome ^_^
Why is it that so many people cannot pronounce this name correctly? the name is Týr. His name is where we get the day name Tuesdag. the "Y" with the accent is not pronounced "ee"... Týr is pronounced "tewr" or "Tew" depending on the dialect. sometimes the final "R" in Old Norse is silent.
Maybe it's because no one really does their research. They just assume, with typical arrogance, things are pronounced the way they think... it's not like the names of Norse deities would be in a different language..... like in Old Norse maybe ...
Maybe this will change your mind, Fenrir was just a stupid example, here are the real ones, i didn't want to do this since im lazy as hell, but since you're not convinced. Here: Bakasura, Hercules(one of the two demigods in smite), Arachne(a mortal cursed by Athena very similar to Medusa), Bacchus(the other demigod). Neith(Fate), Chronos(Time), Vamana(a form used by a god), and Ymir(A primeval being). Then Hebo, Ne zha, and Guan Yu, are elevated/deified beings. So Medusa is possible.
what are you talking about? Odin is a very popularpick in tournaments and high ranked matches. We need more gods with skills that require thought before use (like his ulti) not less. The game doesn't get balanced going by level 5 casualmatches you know.
@Nailed999 well Norse gods were actually worshipped all over, people think Scandinavian right away but they were quite popular in Britain before Christianity swept over them and prayed to thor to crush their Christian enemies :p Norse is also germanic in origin
It's a little odd how the art shows Fenrir devouring Tyr's left hand when it was his right hand that was devoured. And what about making Hera? Would be interesting.
I meant something akin to the visual rework on Ra rather than a gameplay change. Although we do need some urgent rebalancing. A god is either always picked or not picked at all because there are so many other gods who can do the same job better.
"He is courage, he is honour, he is justice, he is the Batman"
IM BATMAN
LOL,that was a good one :D
New skin the Night Tyrror, he's now Batman. Needs to happen.
The Dark Knight theme starting playing...
In some stories, Fenrir was basically adopted by Tyr after loki was imprisoned. as he grew the gods began to fear his strength, thus leading to the tests. The Gods didnt tell Tyr that the last bond was unbreakable, so he sorta got screwed over as well as Fenrir.
Whoever played Tyr in the scenarios has the shakiest hands haha
Man, this god is really good...
I guess you could say he's
*sunglasses*
TOP TYR
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I guess he's called tyr because
sunglasses
he put a tyr in your eye
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Not top Tyr .. he is God Tyr =D
StanZoldak YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
Whos here after they heard his whole knock up is back
OH YEAAA KING ARTHUR WHOO??
Best accent in the whole game, hands down. Except for the Australian skins and Ra'merica.
+Daniel Wells hand down*
Fenrir The Unbound yeah you like that fenrir dont you ?
+LeOssiTrollterrible im gonna bite off that other hand
+Daniel Wells True, I have all Tyr skins but only play with the original or mastery skins because of the voice pack.
I'm a league player.... but this game looks so much better!!!
It gets old a lot quicker to me at least, And even though all gods are different they feel the same in a lot of ways.
i've been playing for hours each day now, still having more fun than in league.
you must be a new league player.. at most you've only played for a year.
floridden been playing league since S2 actually.
It gets old.
*WiseGuyModeOn*
Fenrir had the wrong hand in his mouth in the video, but in the game its correctly displayed.
*WiseGuyModeOff*
Tyr has learned Grand Skyfall.
Pantheon: Im really proud of you Tyr, now you are ready to be baker!
Since this guy is a Norse god...
*puts on sunglasses*
I guess they won't be expecting Tyr-anny
Menno Noltes Cause he's a
LAWGIVER.
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
That is the best pun ever
That joke was top Tyr
I was playing ra and when THAT thing named Tyr came he was just playing football with me i couldnt get away with tier 3 sprint,3 stacks of passive(playing ra) and shoes of magi its funny that in romanian "tir" means a big truck and that thing just comes like a truck
One of the best Passives in the game.
iberaider uhmmm meh. i like chaac's passive more. xD
I'm a league of legends player, i played for 2 years, but Smite is so much better.
Fenrir devours Tyr's left hand but he's missing his right.
took me a LONG time figuring out how to get good at this god . . but now i think i got it.
I like how in Fenrir and Tyr's Lore section on the god reveal, it shows a left hand each time despite him having lost his right.
Their lore artists seem to have gotten it wrong. They show his left hand getting eaten when the game shows his right hand was eaten. Was i the only one who caught that or what?
Yoloman Gamerguy no really they drew his left hand being eaten when it is clearly his right hand i am not kidding
In lore he lost his left hand. They fucked up
+The Swedish spirit Perhaps that was done for gameplay purposes.
+The Swedish spirit Perhaps that was done for gameplay purposes.
Mephiste Sulfurion how would it be for gameplay purposes?
Týr is my favorite god from Norse mythology and it made me really happy to see him as one of the good gods of the Norse pantheon in the latest god of war game. Incidentally, my favorite creature from Norse mythology is Fenrir, which is fitting given his shared history with Týr.
The dunkmaster of smite?
Seems Tyr lost his right hand, yet the picture of the wolf was swallowing his LEFT hand
Tyr is so cool, but i'm unable to play him well
In the update notes is written that the mastery level on a god is shown for every player now on the loading screen, golden show also wins/kills/assists.
pure swag in human form
Looks great, can't wait to try him out. Also couldn't help but notice in the lore segment that he was already missing his hand when he captured Fenrir, and then later it shows Fenrir biting off the wrong hand.
Justice demands Retribution.
Ares can dps like a boss, if he puts his to it. Problem is, there are but a few players willing to be a tank in low level games, so you are often more useful as a tanky Ares.
TECHNO VIKING TYR
Holy crap those gameplay videos. It feels more like something out of God Of War... Awesome.
In the lore Fenrir devoured his left hand but in game his right hand is cut off wtf?
Not true, the game got it right
No? its the right hand Fenrir devoured
I meant the lore in the video when they show up the picture of Tyr and Fenrir not the real lore
This may be due some copyright laws regarding mythology characters usage. *lol*
Tyr, the embodiment of self-sacrifice, the very pillar of which justice is upheld by, and what determines whether a person is truly a hero, he is a role model as to what we should all be and the only god worth worshipping, hail Tyr for he is justice, the only thing that matters

lol
+DoubleTapGaming
Ability 1 fearless, can be feared…while using it…
this video is outdated. he can stance change at lvl 0.
Edwin Ramirez Why are you here too. You're everywhere.
ayyyyy
Edwin Ramirez yea I keep getting recommend videos that are 4yrs old to. I thought this was a new skin at first... i was like wth odyssey just released one..then looked at the date.
It's amazing how well you've done on this game and how little publicity it has gotten.
The ending of the video lol Techno Tyr
When i started playing Tyr was the newest god... Time flies...
Every time they pronounce my name... oh god.
he is courage, he is honor, he is judgment. HOW DID SHE NOT MAKE A HE IS THE LAW JOKE.
What happened after 4:40? :D
He died, horribly
As a budding runeologist, I appreciate how they incorporated runes into his stances.
Dat end tho haha!
Anyone else hear Hiccup's father (How to train your Dragon 1) when the Tyr voicepack was shown?
Dammit... Why does all nordic characters have a scottish accent?!
The gold skins are released in batches of about 3 per update- and there's about two updates a month, it seems. They're made pretty fast since they're all just recolors, anyways.
Am i the only person who thinks he is nerfed?
no i was nerfed
Maybe not, but everyone will notice when he gets his balls sliced off in the next patch ^_^
No they got the legend right Fenrir Devoured the Right hand in the ancient myth, the art in previous reveals may have been misleading. The actual myth did have fenrir devour the right hand. So the in game model is correct.
tyr knocks up aphrodite;)
The chang'e ultimate for multiple gods is significantly longer than 1s. Super effective there.
Looks like Stoick became a god after death.
Love, love, LOVE the lore sections! So glad HiRez decided to include them in the god reveals.
The LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!
His voice is so incredible, I'm just waiting for him to say: "Give us the rings, Helen, give us the rings"
TYRiffic.
TYRiffying
maybe not Vamana and Odin, but everyone can agree Melee Brusiers have all had their OP days, most are still OP right now. like Fenrir, Herc, Thor, Tyr (sort of)... You get the point

Way to go actually getting some good UI design. Did you hire a new designer @smitegame?
He's in it, friend. Check out Mercury. Hermes is the Greek name, Mercury is the Roman.
good point there, but these included in the game have much to do with the gods revealed already, for example fenrir fought against odin, was the ally of loki and bit off tyr's hand
This God is absolutely awesome! Looking forward for next generation gods like this one. Nice job HiRez!
He Bo voice pack is really cool when you have he bro skin. I saw it on livestream from hirezbart :) not all commands works, but the best ones do :D
:O So now I understand why there was an Argent Crusade outpost in the Plaguelands in WoW, called Tyr's Hand. Lore within a lore.
In Greek mythology, Kratos' or Cratus' (Ancient Greek: Κράτος, English translation: "power") is the son of Pallas and Styx and the personification of strength and power.[1][2] Kratos and his siblings-Nike ("victory"), Bia ("force"), and Zelus ("zeal")-are the winged enforcers (sky tides) of the Olympian God Zeus. this one came out around a week ago.
updates are bi-weekly
Tyr got his left hand eaten as shown in the lore "blanket going down" scene but its his right hand that is lost...
1:35 The picture shows that Fenrir devoured Tyr's left hand but he's missing his right hand.
After reached Plat 1 in Leauge... i found this game , and it is really fun and easy for someone who already knew about MOBA...Now i have 3 games to play DOTA LOL SMITE... NEVER GET BORED
Did anyone else notice that in the lore u see Fenrir eating a left hand but Tyr gave his right hand.
Oh! So he is the guy who gave his hand for Fenrir! Awsome! This is why Lore are importnt!
Thank you. You hit the point I was going to make. I may not be the best player but I play alot of League and alot of Smite. There is almost nothing that feels the same. Tyrs passive is called steal my heart cus I'm in love with this god #IveNeverWantedNothinMore

Yes, its nice, but it only works on like 10% of the CC's
dude ive been complaining to them so long to make tyr and they finally did i was so excited
I would love to see some more Roman gods make an appearance in Smite, like Mars as a Bruiser/Tank Champion or Mercury as a Support Champion.
Ive been waiting for this guy ever since they mentioned him in the fenrir god reveal
the point to have the gold skin is only to get that sorda of gold square on the loading screen , so once u have u get som cash skin but still have the golden square and that's it
The art in the lore scroll is a left hand, but Tyr's right hand is missing in the in game model :s
I'll be honest, I was hoping he'd be similar to jayce (melee and ranged stance).
At least that's what I thought when Erez originally said his hand was made into a cannon...it even looks like the concept is still on the model (the wolf head gauntlet)
Why the hell the picture of the lore shows the Tyr's left hand ripped off? Error 404: Logic not found
they said they wouldn't make demi gods into the game, it was in a live video where the owner of hirez said that.
You mangled that pronunciation like Fenrir mangled Týr's hand.
tyr is 1 of my favourite gods
That her Inspire skill now gives her and her allies a 20% movement speed for 6s is such a minor buff tho. She deserves something extra.
As dota 2 players can switch between hon fairly easily due to champion similarities, I've longed for a day lol would a an equivalent "brother" and this game is pretty much it, not so much champion wise but the way they tell stories and hero mechanics are similar enough for me to jump on board.

Maybe because that not very common knowledge
Maybe it's because no one really does their research. They just assume, with typical arrogance, things are pronounced the way they think... it's not like the names of Norse deities would be in a different language..... like in Old Norse maybe ...
+Will Vafuth i was with you until you claimed people were arrogant for not correctly pronouncing people's names right xD. Still interesting knowledge.
Maybe this will change your mind, Fenrir was just a stupid example, here are the real ones, i didn't want to do this since im lazy as hell, but since you're not convinced. Did anyone notice at 1:40, Fenrir devours Tyr´s left hand, but he doesn´t have a right hand at 1:58? Does that mean that Tyr hade two left hands?
The days....
BUT it shows your dedication to that god and that is something to be feared or you've just played a long ass time
what are you talking about? Odin is a very popularpick in tournaments and high ranked matches.
We need more gods with skills that require thought before use (like his ulti) not less.
The game doesn't get balanced going by level 5 casualmatches you know.
@Nailed999 well Norse gods were actually worshipped all over, people think Scandinavian right away but they were quite popular in Britain before Christianity swept over them and prayed to thor to crush their Christian enemies :p Norse is also germanic in origin
In the newer reveals they actually include builds as well -.-
It's a little odd how the art shows Fenrir devouring Tyr's left hand when it was his right hand that was devoured.
And what about making Hera? Would be interesting.
even though his right hand was bitten off, the hand in fenrirs mouth is his left
the patch is ALWAYS out the day reveals gets released.
the picture of fenrir eating tyr's hand is tyr's left hand, but he ate tyr's right hand
I meant something akin to the visual rework on Ra rather than a gameplay change. Although we do need some urgent rebalancing. A god is either always picked or not picked at all because there are so many other gods who can do the same job better.
Awesome job all around. Smite has come far.
