      Yeah, this video is (obviously) a pisstake in general but especially with the continuing news of stuff getting delisted, sometimes permanently, emulation is the only reason we can play some things.

    I play modern games so infrequently that I spend more times updating them than playing. Then I've run out to time to play.

    • @Yesterzine

  • @weightlessliving9856
    @weightlessliving9856 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was definitely brilliant. First vid of yours I’ve seen. Pulls out my TheC64, loads up a 40 year old game. Plugs in a modern USB SNES controller, and enjoys retro gaming bliss with all of the ambiance and none of the issues…all while snubbing my nose at anyone who complains otherwise. After playing that 40 year old Commodore game, I’ll load up a brand new one released this year because the Commodore 64 seems to never stop having brilliant games released for it!

    • @Yesterzine
      @Yesterzine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, obviously I'm (mostly) joking in parts of this video, the time has passed now but it was a reaction to a massive pile of people posting earnest "The problem with the community" or whatever absolute bullcrap. Mostly their problem tended to be "Women exist" or "People who sell things like to get paid for them".
      But since you're new I'll point out I 100% agree with you, I constantly say there is no bad way to play games. I used a crappy emulation device when I was on RMC, I have an FPGA Master System in arms reach and I can see a real one from here. Using platform to gatekeep how someone plays Sonic is mad. If what you got is a TheC64, play some California Games and have fun!

    • @weightlessliving9856
      @weightlessliving9856 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Yesterzine Yeah I was being a bit snarky in my wording. TheC64 Maxi is great. I had all the real systems back in the 80s and 90s. Atari 800/XL/XE, TI-99/4A, Apple II, Apple IIgs, Commodore 64, Original Macintosh, Genuine IBM PC, Amiga 1000 and 500, Sega Genesis, Atari 1040ST, TRS-80. The secret was, I bought them all second hand after people “upgraded”. I was vintage computing and gaming before it was even a thing. Sadly never had a Speccy…they didn’t make it big this side of the pond. You know what’s really mad, I have a Nintendo Switch with 60+ games on it and it’s sat in the closet for 2 years unplayed. The Commodore and the GameBoy Colour are just much more fun and don’t require any updates, internet, agreements, load times, downloads, uploads, personal information, recharging, controller madness or any other nonsense 😁😁. Keep on going, love your snarky wit. Subscribed!!

    Good problem analysis.😸👍🎶
    Digital-Only releases have their pro and cons. But it is only a phase because:
    Human Evolution --》New interests --》New "Things we want" --》People say "We want to touch our objects of interests." --》Gaming Industry adapts its output --》They release a physical edition's game --》It is a good game and people are buying it. --》Someone says: "How do we preserve this masterpiece?" --》Digital Release after 6 years --》People are happy and Gaming Industry earns XP points for new wonderful games. --》Human Evolution.
    And the cycle is endless.
    Now, Gaming Companies aren't Divine Creatures. That is because:
    They don't listen consumers' interests --》People lose interests in "Gaming Hobby." --》Gaming Companies' workers lose their jobs. --》End of the Gaming Companies.
    They exist because there are people behind them; there aren't "Digital-Only Release" Humans or substitutes of Humans.
    Physical media is always existing in the future.

      With love to the people I know who do them, I do not "get" pickup videos.
      That said, I owned a Spectrum back in the day and the likes of RTS are constantly making videos on games I never heard of much less played. It is why I take a different angle though, assuming you've seen anything else on the channel it's based around the contemporary view of games from the magazines of the time which gives me a lot of freedom that "I picked up this copy of Road Rash in CeX" does not.

      @@Yesterzine if you type in retro gaming in the TH-cam search, you are bombarded with retro collector's, game flippers and video game resellers, and Scalpers. These people don't even play their games, they buy them to put on the shelf. They are using video games as an investment. Hoping one day their collection will be worth something. What I've learned over the years is technology replaces technology,
      Dvd, replaced vhs, blu ray replaced dvd, and 4k blu ray replaced blue ray and HD dvd. If they wait too long their collections will be worthless. Soon all these disc based consoles will be phased out,and replaced with digital consoles making psysical games irrelevant.
