Hello Chris, Thank's for the video it looks interesting. I have a Solar PV system with a Solis S6 GR1P5K inverter that connects to my Givenergy AIO and Gateway. Looking at the Solis inverter it seems as if a WiFi dongle is required? Mine doesn't have one so I guess the information I'm seeing is from what's being picked up in the Givenergy Gateway.
Hi Chris, very informative, I didn’t know about the bar graph view, it looks a lot easier to read. even though I’ve had the app since it was released as I have had solar for 4 years i’ve only a couple of weeks ago had batteries installed ( yes VAT free now!) so i’ve started using all of the app so to speak, I find that the info displayed is not “real time” as I have a smart meter for grid usage and energy monitor with CT clamp on solar generation, I’ve only just now after speaking at length to my installer been able to get access to the inverter to tinker with the grid charge area…. it’s very hard to find info on this and it’s very tricky to do, the installer wasn’t keen I was tinkering in this area…. but they have full remote access to my system!!! bet you didn’t know that😮… keep up the posts, cheers👍
I've not done this myself as i'm not on Octopus yet. But if you if you select info on the top right, in there is an option to manage tariff. Mine is set to peak rate, but they is options to change it and also do a company tariff. Octopus should be able to talk you through setting it up
Hi Chris, thanks for the video. I just had solar panels installed yesterday. I just see power generated on the solis cloud app. How do you see power user and power sent back to the grid?
Hi, first of all I hope your weather is better than it is here so you see some good generation. It should show automatically, so the first thing to check is that your installers have put in a CT clamp (it the RS485 meter port on the bottom of the inverter), then check the other end is clipped to the correct wires
Thanks Chris, I've been told by the installers it's because I have an inverter and not a hybrid inverter or battery. I'm still checking with them. I chose not to have a battery but didn't know there was 2 different inverter types.
@@jameskelly5902 i would have thought solis would still be able to take in a CT cable on a inverter just to record the info. An invert take the DC from the solar panels and coverts to AC, while the hybrid also allows AC from the grid to be converted to DC to charge the battery.
I've got Solis Inverter but the app doesn't show the Process Flow that's shown in the video. It only shows the generation. My few friends have installed done other brand inverters and they can see there usage and generation in the app at the same time. Is there any way to check and activate that in our Solis Cloud app?
If a battery is showing 100% under what circumstances would there be a discharge from the Grid to the Inverter? Does it not deplete the SOC before using from the Grid?
It depends on the priority setting. In the gerenal if you have solar generation, any house load is power from solar first and excess energy goes battery, if the battery is full, the excess goes to the grid. If there is no solar, the the house load will be taken from the battery until battery hits the minimum SOC that you have set. If the load on the house greater than the solar and/or the battery output power, then the load will also pull from grid as well.

I think you can hardwire a Solis but i think most use the data logger dongle. So its like yours is coming from givenergy
