Hey there, really appreciate this series you did. Sounds like we shop at the same place LOL. Got the Rockford Fosgates put in myself. A bit more on the dremel action, but they did eventually fit snug as a bug. Take it easy!
Did you ever measure the exact diameter of the dremeled out opening? I'm assuming most 3/4" tweeters will have a similar flush mount size, but it would be good to know the actual size. I have a few old 1" and 3/4" tweeters lying around from older cars. I would like to measure before hacking up my A-Pillars. Crutchfield says your tweeters have a 1.67" cutout diameter, while the Sound Ordnance P67CB's I just bought are showing 1.506" cutout diameter. I wonder if that's close enough to where mine would fit with the tabs still in the A-Pillars.
Just watched your videos. Great info. One question, did you disconnect the battery when working on the speakers especially when working with the tweeters?
Great vids! Helped me a ton! How did you wire the ISS 165 tweeters, did you use the CAR wire or the DISPLAY wire? One is slightly louder or quieter than the other. Wondering which one sounds best in the S550.
@@GJDGarage Thanks yeah I saw that after I read the small pamphlet. I thought I’d read on Crutchfield one was 0db and other was +3db. So far I have the tweeters in, wow what a difference. Door speakers and deck next. How did you like the speakers before you put in the amp and DSP? I got the same ones you have.
Wow I can’t believe how much better these sound over the stock speakers on just the OEM head unit. The detail and accuracy is stellar. I can’t wait to get the rear deck speakers installed! The rear speakers sound like crap, but the fill in a fair amount of sloppy bass. Will see if I need a sub. Will add an amp later and maybe DSP. Thanks again for these videos! Awesome help!
Thank you for the fantastic instructional videos on installing a stereo. I learned a lot from watching all nine videos. I have a 2018 Mustang with the base system like yours. I have some Infinity Kappa component 4 ohm speakers, can I do a straight install running off the factory system, I don't want to add an amp? Or do you think it would be okay to swap the factory tweeters to the Infinity tweeters leaving the factory door and deck speakers in place?
Paul Davidson Thank you. Yes, you can drive them with factory unit. However, they are going to need more power to “wow” you. It will sound pretty much like stock until you put some watts behind it. I would install the complete component system not just the tweeters.
So did you just connect the Twitter into the factory twitter wiring then? Or did you run a cable ask the way to the amp? Curious to know how you got from the front to the bank of the car. Thanks for the videos !
Is there an opening in that a pillar that goes down to the obd2 port I’m getting a tuner soon and I’m wanted to keep the obd2 wire for tuner hidden and clean
GJDGarage ah, I see that now. Unfortunately I have the 9 speaker setup that still sounds like crap. I’d rather have the 6 speakers because at least I could replace them with something quality relatively cheaply. The only 3 way component kit that fits is $700 without an amp.
Pepsiaddicto I understand. I am extremely happy with this setup. The focal components over perform after tuned via dsp. The tweeters in this kit are “bright” to say the least. If I can be of further help let me know.
The high-pass filter is in-line with tweeter behind the A-pillar trim. This isn’t typical with most component systems as they have a crossover block you have to mount somewhere. But, Focal ISS-165’s have inline filters for both tweeter and woofer. Hope this helps.
If you are new to cutting/splicing I would get a 20ft and a 12ft. When I said 20ft was just enough I meant it was just enough. No room for errors. You can always send the 12ft back if you don’t use it.
this is awesome stuff, exactly what i needed. thank you for taking the time to record this

Thank you for uploading this, changing mine now in a 2016 and I would have no idea about the side curtain airbags
You are welcome! Glad it helped.
Thank you much. I'm going to do that for my 2106 very soon.
thanks so much for your time and video!

Whats the name or link to get this pleasant

Dennis Chow Yes

I used the “car” wire. The “display” wire is to be used when displayed in a store.

They sound better than stock but really open up with extra power.

The crossovers are “in line” on my model of Focal components. That’s why I chose them. No need to run extra wires or deal with 3 way crossover blocks.
Is there an opening in that a pillar that goes down to the obd2 port I’m getting a tuner soon and I’m wanted to keep the obd2 wire for tuner hidden and clean
Yes. You can follow the factory wiring on the drivers side.
Thank you for the quick reply!! Btw I watched your whole audio series on your mustang great job and keep it up!!
Thanks man!
Did you do anything with the 3" midrange in the door? Are these tweeters component with any of the other speakers, or just on their own?
My car doesn’t have the midrange door speaker. The tweeters and door speakers are a component kit. Links are in video 1 description.

If you use the 2 way xover with the two way system, you can unplug the mids (if the woofers are the same size)
Hey bud . What size are the tweeters ?? 🤔
1.48" frame diameter and 0.61" height (so 1.5")
I used 1 inch tweeters by Polk Audio...but he didn't tell you how to tell positive from neg...
How is the crossover wired?
Or did you cut the factory connector and connect the Pos and Neg on the tweeter?
The high-pass filter is in-line with tweeter behind the A-pillar trim. This isn’t typical with most component systems as they have a crossover block you have to mount somewhere. But, Focal ISS-165’s have inline filters for both tweeter and woofer. Hope this helps.
Im curious did you use the factory wires from the old tweeters or did you have to run the to the component speakers
Used factory
GJDGarage ok i see that now. Last question man did you only need 20 feet of the 9 wire or did you buy two 12 foot?
20ft was just enough.

i dont got no side curtains lol i got metal rails and hinges going down the pilars and roof
