Cool! I just got a McClane edger with B&S $3.5 for only $40! Gotta clean the inside of the tank with solvent/ abrasives, red kote it, and put a new carb on.
THANKS JEFF, I REALLY APPREICATE U, I USE TO REPAIR LAWN MOWERS , BUT AT 76 YEARS OLD I HAVE FORGOTTEN MOST BUT I STILL TRY FIX MY OWNE, U HAVE HELPED ME ON A LOT OF TIMES , THANK YOU /
Really cool video. To get started I’ll need a basic set of tools including torque sockets, carbuerator cleaner, starter fluid, Wd 40, correct ? I have an old briggs and stratton engine edger I want to tinker with. Thanks.
Awesome video. Really clear and easy to follow. Now I need to find the correct repair kit with gaskets. My McClane edger was running fine last year but this spring it wouldn't run. Starts right up with starting fluid then dies. Was able to run by cutting back on choke but now quit completely. Thank you very much.
Love these videos it's got me into fixing small engines just fixed my craftsman Briggs and Stratton 550 series push mower cleaned the carburetor and put new air filter on it runs great now
Working on one of those right now. Gas tank has pinholes, and seem to be made of unobtanium. Any ideas on how to fix that? Jb weld on the outside didnt work.
I need your help! I finally got around to disassembling the Briggs engine to overhaul the carburetor. Carb kit gaskets and pump diaphragm seem correct. My problem: the Fuel Pickup Tube broke when I removed the carb from the tank. In my research of fuel pickup tube Part Numbers, I came up with 3 different part numbers…based upon the capacity of the fuel tank; 1QT, 2QT or 3QT. One website indicates 3 different part numbers, different for each capacity. Another site says the 2 & 3 QT use the same! None of the owners manuals that came when I purchased new provide the fuel tank capacity. I am pretty sure it is a 2 QT, based upon the dimension Briggs shows, between the carb flange mount and the end of the pickup tube. Have you run into difficulty ordering the correct fuel pickup tube part number? And finally, any tips on installing the new “press fit” fuel tube? Thank you in advance.
Hi friend. Measure out 1 qt of fuel and pour it in the empty gas tank and hopefully this will help determine fuel capacity. I am thinking the tube will press in without any special tools just be careful pushing it in, maybe tap it in with small hammer if needed
I have a Lawn Edger TBE304. It starts up great. The blades are working. Once I place the edger in place to start working the blade just stop working. I have changed the belts. Any suggestions of what to do next?
Hi Jeff, Help, I have a craftsmanship edger, Ybsxs 148thh 275076. Briggs and Stratton. How do you lower the RPM, this model doesn’t have a throttle cable control. Awesome Video
This is great! I took this exact approach last weekend with the same model. I'm still waiting on parts to come it, but the tutorial is great. I also have leaking oil from the engine. Not sure where it's coming from, but with everything still attached it's leaking out by the back wheels. Any ideas on that one?
I've been working on this for two day now. I've cleaned the carb, the gas lines, gas tank, etc. still didn't start. So I decided to take it apart again today thinking I missed something and as I'm putting it back together I noticed the breather tube, one of the rubber hoses is falling apart. I'm going to get the part tomorrow, and hoping that will be the problem. What upsets me is that it's right on top. I didn't have to take the whole thing apart again. Those screws are such a pain to get to. I'm only doing this because this is my late dad's edger and has sentimental value, otherwise I'd probably not bother. I know my dad's looking down thinking...Yeah, that's my daughter fixing my edger...lol
Got one just like it , but mine's a 3 HP . Mine is the old White brand , and I've put a new Diaphragm in it already . But now it's still cold natured and has always been .
My dad has the same one... I ordered a new belt for it and also need to address the throttle at the handle to work better to the motor but other than that we shall see. nice work.
Forgot how much I dislike working on Pulsa-Jet carburetors, especially with the bigger fuel tank and muffler ass’y. Great channel, thought I subbed a while ago but I guess I didn’t, just did now 👍🏻
I did all that! I cleaned every port and tube I could see on the carb. I cleaned the tank. all new gaskets and diaphragm. still wont stay running. what am I missing??
@@michaelxwhite ive got the same problem i replaced almost everything, it does stay on in choke for a short while then dies.. I do hear a hissing noise like air after i try to start it.. Any ideas? Thanks for the help..
@@sheriffgongetcha5653 yep, tighten all nuts on the intake side, good way to check for air leak is spray a little wd40 around carburetor and intake manifold and you should be able to see bubbles where the leak is.

Good video Jeff. Just plucked a mint one out of the garbage. A few weeks after disassembly I was lost on how it all went back. Keep up the good work!
Glad it helped

I've got one of these on a shelf in my garage. Never seen another one until this video.
Thank you for providing an excellent video!
I have to do the exact same carb & fuel pump rebuild as soon as the weather warms up.
Thanks for watching!
Always put things back the way you took them off. It's a time saver. Good work man.
Glad to see another video, we've missed you. Nice work Jeff.
Thanks Ron, more videos to come!
That’s a different design compared to others I’ve seen. Nice job Jeff.

Great video, Jeff. I'm working on an almost identical model. This will really help!
I'm sure some engineer was proud of their design.
lol!
Pulsa prime, pulsa Jet, or something in between. Another one I’ve never see. Come the day, I’ll be the man!
Great video, as always
Great and detail video. I have the exact same edger. Where did you get your gaskets and other parts?
Thanks friend. I usually get my parts on Ebay or Amazon or my local Briggs and Stratton Service/Parts Center.

I have this edger and im having difficulty identifying what belt I need. Can you please help me with that
to get the correct one you need the model number off of the edger frame. Not the engine model number

The large spring/rod that keeps the belt tight may be seized up
You don't use any type of gasket sealer on your gasket or it doesn't use any ?
I do not use gasket sealer on any gasket unless it is recommended which is very rare. Properly cleaning off old gasket is key.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
Thanks friend

You need the model number off of the engine for engine parts. You will need the model number off of the edgers frame for all other parts.
Hi Jeff. where can i get the parts for this kind of carburetor? thank you for answere.
Amazon Ebay or your local lawnmower repair shop
What’s up with the edger next to you
not sure I have alot of stuff...
Great video. Mine is doing the same thing. But can’t find a carb kit for a 091202 1264E1 type. Any help would be great thanks.
Denny
There is no kit for this just the bottom gasket and the fuel pump kit
where to locate a model no. off a briggs engine?
usually stamped into the metal engine shroud on top or on the side
Very helpful, thank you very much!!
Glad it was helpful
Is there a mixture screw on the carb?
nope not on this carb

not many places it can leak from. maybe just the oil fill plug is loose.
mine has 2 oil fill caps in front and rear, and a third allen head bolt flush with the engine base.

carburetors for these things don't seem to be that expensive ($20-$30 including gaskets). Why not just replace the carb?
I have had problems with cheap carburetors. An original OEM Briggs carburetor for this is last time I checked about $100.00
I put a brand new carburetor on and still having issues
great video .will.you be selling it
no it was for a customer
Are we sure that’s not a modern vw design carburetor.? That looked a bit overly complex.
Gr8 vid there.
How can I find the fuel pump kit and carb gasket?
from your model number on the engine
