    Michael did get Scottie his shoe deal. Scottie had signature Nike shoes. Whether it was directly or indirectly, being MJ’s star teammate on the 90’s Bulls is only gonna increase your endorsement value. MJ clearly had major pull with Nike, so he possibly even had a direct role in Scottie’s shoe deal.

      According to Stephen A. Smith .....MJ went to Scottie with a Nike deal that would have ensure Scottie would get money for the rest of his life and he turned it down. He let jealousy get in the way of his thought process.

    Thank you AOH, for coming out with this detailed analysis of Scottie Pippen's personality. MJ needs to be protected from such a monster with no end to his own greed and desire. I totally agree that if Jerry Krause managed to trade for an all-star to compete together with MJ, they will succeed together, that just show how great MJ was in his prime. MJ is simply too kind to this ungrateful bastard, that's all I will say.

    Exactly Michael Jordan did not put a gun up to Scottie Pippen head and make his say I would sit out the game again. Scottie own words made him look bad not the documentary. Scottie knew the 1994 Playoff incident was going to be in the last dance. The interview was filmed in 2019 but he still said it.
    The other thing he said was he wasn't going to ruin his summer vacation which is why he got foot surgery right before the regular season and left MJ alone to lead the Bulls to 60 wins

    • @ricdafric7565
      @ricdafric7565 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Yea, how about that. So now we know how he was really feeling and that he left MJ stranded, but MJ still led the Bulls to those wins and another title.
      It amazes me when they talk about Scottie in ways to downplay or discredit MJ, but they never seem to tell such things as this. MJ was winning without him and had a stellar year, and had many awards as well.

    So Pippen basically wanted Jordan to lie and say those things like quitting on his teammates in 1994 while being on the court didn't happen. Jordan could have easily shown that Pippen was struggling mightily with his shot in the 4th quarter of Game 3. But he didn't
    If Jordan really wanted to diss Pippen, he would have shown the 1995 season where the Bulls were 34-31 and Scottie failed as a leader of that team and was asking to be traded constantly before Jordan has to come back and propel the Bulls to a 47-35 record

    Have you ever seen or heard MJ ever say he was the Goat? No...rather he said there was no way to compare who would be the goat because players existed in different eras against different competition. Yet we see Lebron patting himself on the back constantly. For all his supposed greatness, he comes across as completely insecure. Can you imagine MJ ever going before a crowd and shouting, "I want my damn respect?" Oh hell no! You can't demand respect....respect is something that is EARNED. If you have to stand before a crowd and yell that you want your respect, that's pretty damn sad. Even when MJ was in college, you never saw him display anything but class. Also, he didn't need anyone else to validate him....he knew who he was. Lebron, on the other hand, seems to need constant validation. He takes every possible opportunity to praise himself or elicit attaboys from others. That is NOT greatness....that is low-level begging. In every aspect, MJ is many levels above Lebron James, and always will be. I'm old enough to have seen MJ play in college and Lebron play in high school, so I've seen their complete NBA careers. I'm not saying that Lebron is trash. He is a great player. However, he has not displayed the true greatness in every aspect to even remotely rival Michael Jordan.

    Jordan always covered for him and gave him props every time. I guess after losing some dignity with the Kukoc shot and the 98 season extortion, the tipping point of his wannabe as good or better than MJ ego was his ex getting together with Mike's son. He's not crazy, he's very aware he's speaking bs and that he soiled his relationship with Jordan beyond repair forever.
    One more thing. Jordan played for pennies till 96/97 season. He made 3,85m during the 72 wins one, while Patrick neverwonanything Ewing was making 18,85m during 96/97. Jordan said payday time or I go to the Knicks or elsewhere if Reinsdorf don't match double the Ewing money, and he made 30 and 33m during 96/97 and 97/98 seasons.

    Top 50 scorers in NBA History LeBronze Metal James has played with 6 players in the top 50. Goat Jordan? George Gervin 1985-86 he played 18 EIGHTEEN GAMES as a teammate of Gervin, MJ also never had a roster full of future Hall of Famers an if you count Robert Parish 1997 or Toni Kukoc when he's a basketball Hall of Famer not NBA then you need help an stop hating on Mike he wasn't supposed to do what he did how he did it. He changed the PARADIGM OF WINNING, Karl Malone would be considered a top 10 player if Jordan hadn't played, Stockton would be ahead of Isiah easily, Barkley would have a title, Ewing would have atleast 4 Finals trips 😂 now we have Pippen 16 ppg no defensive accolades but he's the reason Jordan won 😂 No Jordan was the reason Pippen thrived, putting that type of pressure on Pippen he had no choice but to become a good role player, he was not as good as Kevin McHale but that's the type of player he was a over Glorified role player. Everyone isn't a damn superstar don't let the media fool you, superstars lead their teams to the Finals/Titles atleast lead them there there's levels. Jordan as the leader went 6X an was flawless each time when he played a full season in the decade of the 90s an I do believe 1994 they would've beaten Houston simply because Phil Jackson would've let Hakeem get off, I have yet to hear anyone say well Houston didn't have answer for Jordan 🤦🏾‍♂️

Didn't think he had a leg to stand on in regards to the documentary "disrespecting" him. And Lebron Stanboys praising Pippen is 100% disingenuous, as is all their praise of any non-Lebron player. @AngryOldHoops Thanks AOH. I'm an old dog too. To be honest, I only knew what I saw on the court. MJ could make me look like a superstar, and that's what I believe was the deal with Pippen. I believe that he had the potential to be a great player, but his bitterness and narcissistic personality held him back.

    Looking forward to Pt II AOH , I’ve been on before and I think the truth is in between your take and the top 50 take. He was never top 50 even then but MJ did mold Scottie into a highly productive player. He was very raw coming out of school. I was a Sonics fan and the Sonics took him and flipped him on draft night. There was no one with the Sonics who could have improved and molded him like that, but Mike did and I dreaded the 2x each year the Sonics played the Bulls because Scottie tortured us. Besides, you know, facing Mike. We usually did a decent job on Mike relatively speaking.

    I loved Pippen back in the day, but he used to frustrate the crap out of me sometimes. He would have games where he would bounce dunks off the rim and clang bricks off the back metal all day sometimes. …and while he was a great defender, he wasn’t every game at all. Some people gave him a lot of trouble.

    MJ got all those endorsement deals through his play.. he made a name for himself and he didn't whine that he was underpaid by his team, he also made good decisions in financial terms(yes, even his gambling addictions), him investing in NIKE and wanting to get paid in stocks options was a good decision and is one of the reason he became a billionaire(because he had money to pay for the hornets).. he was I believe around the top 100 paid players in the league before his last two years with the bulls.. imagine the best player in the league just among the TOP 100 paid players in a league of 300 plus players.. what an injustice, him being paid like that but I didn't see him whine about his contracts unlike scottie and most of the players today..

      I don't know how old you are but you can't put modern-day ways of living to people who were born before the 1950s. Back then if you were poor the more children you had the better because families used their children to help work. AKA Child Labor, if the family were farmers then they would have a lot of kids to help farm the land. My Great Grandfather had 9 children. My Grandfather on my father's side had 8 kids. My Grandfather on my mother's side had 6 kids and my dad had 8 kids. I was born in 79 and I have zero kids its a generational thing
      Back then Poor people had more kids in current year 2023 it not feasible for a poor person to have a ton of kids even though a lot of poor people have a ton of kids

    Scottie is like Lebron in the fact that, if they both never spoke, people would appreciate them a lot more. They hurt themselves by talking. MJ isn’t like that, he’s like tiger woods, they know how to talk and what to say. They never dig themselves in a hole with their words or put a bad taste in peoples mouth. MJ and Tiger are the two best athletes ever

  • @theprofessorjg
    @theprofessorjg 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The difference between Mike and Lebron was James Jordan. Mike knew from his father how to endure and build, while Lebron learned how to take and to look out for himself. Mike's willingness to give up credit (the 96 and the 97 finals) while Lebron needs it.
    Scottie, unfortunately, is similar to Lebron due to his family going through the health issues. A little different issue than LeBron's mom 304'n around the league. Scottie was mad at himself for signing that horrible contract and not even realizing that him signing that contract helped the team sign good players for the triangle and set him up with advertising dollars and helped grow the league so that he could even get mad at the contract he signed.

    He sure as hell wasn't one of the best at negotiations. I think he lacks the intelligence required to be on the elite tier. He's bordering on being the slingblade of the NBA, and that's saying something. It's not a bastion of scholars and intellectuals to begin with. His pay/contract frequently reflected that.

    There is a reason why any duo labeled as the next Jordan and Pippen broke up and that is because nobody ever wanted to be Pippen. Because players knew Pippen was a bum who was along for the ride.

  • @TheGr8-1

    No tippin Pippen..so disappointing. He was made by Jordan. He had his chance to be the man in 94 and he had a great season but he wasn’t the man. He quit on his team and even pointed to a pair of Jordan’s on live TV asking him to come back. Pip would miss crucial free throws on a nightly basis. I don’t think he ever hit a game winner or a clutch shot ever. The fact he didn’t regret what he did speaks volumes. TLD didn’t show anything that wasn’t true. Migraine headache? True. Quit on his team? True. Signing a bad contract? True. Not getting surgery til the start of the 98 season? True. TLD even went into MJ and his political ambiguousness, his gambling and his treatment of his teammates. They didn’t make him out to be a perfect angel. I felt the doc was wonderful. It did feel rushed at times but overall it was a great documentary.
    Pip made more than MJ did in their respective NBA careers. No tippin Pippen trippin 😂😂 now his thot wife getting half his pension along with MJ..Marcus clapping her cheeks. He’s down bad and he’s trying to tear down the Bulls and their dynasties legacy. He’s only hurting himself. MJ even TRIED to get Pippen a Nike deal which he turned down. As a leader sometimes you’ll be disliked or hated whatever. But the results are two 3 peats and a pristine finals record. I’m done with Pip. As a younger brother I always liked the Robin, the Luigi, the Pippen. He was my favorite player early on. Then I matured and became a leader in the court and realized the burden of being a leader. That’s when MJ became so much greater in my eyes. I started identifying more with Batman and the responsibility that comes along with being the man.
    Love this series dude! On to part 4 😂😂

    By way some of these guys talk about MJ u would think they never won nothing and were a failure as a franchise. I don’t think Pippen understands how much MJ went to bat for him with management. He coulda got Tracy Mcgrady instead he went to management and said “If he goes I go”. Jordan wanted keep same team intact. Most his teammates that bitch when they see him in person they all smiling happy to see him.

    I watched it happen live. Ill never watch the last dance. Pippen was molded by MJ, not made. Iron sharpens iron. Pippen was exaclty what Mike needed. Slasher, ball handler, secondary play maker, and a lock down defender. If Pip was an alpha, it never would have worked out. No Pippen, no Rings. Is Pippen acting weak and salty? Yes, but that does not diminish his contributions to the team.
