Like my 1st jersey was Larry Johnson Charlotte Hornets but when #23 came on or it was a inside stuff segment on him especially as a child everything stops. MJ taking the game global is something no player in the age of social media could've done. Bro the defense without fouling is like glue, now when do these dudes in this era have time to shoot these 30 three point shots per game when the guy not only makes you work for every shot today but you have to earn it with dudes glued too you. Example is Reggie Miller having to run around 3 screens just get off a shot off still with a hand trying to block you. I mean this is body to body but today you will get suspended by the league if you even try to practice defense in practice 😅

I agree, I would even go more than solid and say Pippen is one of the greatest seconds in a great team.
But we have to understand what this video is trying to point out -- 'this is an answer to the narrative that MJ couldn't guard Magic and Pippen had to switch to Magic which made Bulls beat that Lakers team' -- and this has proven that narrative a big lie. The switch was necessary in protecting MJ from getting into early foul trouble which is always done by all coaches and teams for their star players. And it was not because MJ was struggling against Magic, in fact he was making Magic tentative -- for one, Pippen was struggling to guard Worthy and all he did was do a decent job against Magic. Magic even started to become aggressive once Pippen picked him up.

@12:38 + Commentator says, "Put Pippen on Magic, to give JORDAN a break on Defense." Then MJ immediately picks up someone else's man and BLOCKS the SHIT out of his shot! Jordan doesn't take rests on Defense! (Also, moments earlier, look how much Jordan is sweating compared to Pippen. The Full court defense of MJ guarding Magic, caused him to sweat excessively. Then after switch, MJ still doesn't rest, but continues playing TENACIOUS defense! That's 2 huge blocks already for Jordan in the 1st quarter alone. And yeah, they didn't count that block on Divac, which they called a foul.) Then after the block sent ball out of bounds, MJ intercepted the inbound pass to Divac! He is the greatest defender of all-time...IMO unbiased opinion. About PIP, at 14:4, Pippen even fumbled the uncontested rebound of Magic's missed shot, after Grant's assistance forced Magic to miss. Yes, it was good "D" from Pip, and I heard the CROWD suddenly getting HYPED UP. But You are so right, the reason Magic challenged Pip, but NOT MJ, is because he was afraid of Jordan, but unafraid of Scottie. Everyone probably overlooked this alarmingly obvious aspect, until you pointed it out for us! @15:33 when Scottie AIRBALLS the open jumper, it confirms that he was obviously crumbling under the pressure! Mental weakness; which explains why he fumbled the excellent alley-oop pass from Jordan earlier.

Imagine the construction workers today with the latest power tools making fun of the construction workers in the 60’s because they did most work by hand and very little power tools of today . That is what the nba does to their past players, they make the rule’s easier to pass, rebound, assist and score but then the nba let’s the nba criticize their own great past players saying they weren’t athletic as this era today. Well if you didn’t change the rules to help todays players out and they played under the same past rules and were better players then ok but after the Lebron era got beat twice in the Olympics, the first time ever by American nba players is when the league knew that this Lebron era of guys lacked the really skills and fundamentals to even beat international plumbers. Thus they had to change the rules of defense to a no touch era just to make these dudes in the Lebron era look better than they are. Bro wtf we received two bronze medals in a row on teams Lebron played on. Not dissing Kobe but Kobe was not playing on the level he was in the 90’s or early 2000’s before this new no touch defense era happened when he started scoring 8 40 point games in a row.

    I see what happened here.
MJ was the best at guarding Magic. But at one point there was a switch, Pippen was left on Magic and did a good job. On the next possession, he played Magic full court, and put so much effort into it that it got the crowd going. When Phil Jackson saw this, he took out a guard (Paxon) and put in a small forward (Livingston) to guard Worthy. Jordan and Pipen became the guards. Pippen was now guarding Magic, not as good as Jordan but good enough, and this gave MJ greater freedom to roam around on defense and do his thing. So overall, the defense became tighter. This is why collective memory remembers that Pippen taking Magic was the turning point.

Phil made the switch because Jordan ran out of gas defending Magic, who at the time was legitimately a top-five player in the league (MVP in 1990, First-Team All-NBA and 2nd in MVP voting in 1991 behind Jordan). His offense suffered as a result. The big gamble in defense was switching Jordan out to guard Vlade. Pip did his darndest best, but his defense on Magic was overrated. He just happened to be the best substitute because the Bulls had problems with the mismatch Magic presented, he was too quick for most of their forwards, whom they also needed to defend the big Laker frontline, and only Hopson among all their guards was tall enough to match up against Magic.

Good to see this footage. But saying LeBron hasn’t denied and defended guys is an ignorant and not true statement. I’ve watched that with my own eyes too, especially before getting older. And this isn’t a MJ vs LeBron argument, I like both

Nah what he doesn't like is clowns making up bullshit. The fans today don't know shit about basketball in the '80s and '90s.

AOH is just tired of the BS narrative that Scottie carried Mike, and he's showing proof to debunk that fake narrative.

Chicago was weak; the Lakers gave them that series... Worthy and Perkins helped out their UNC teammate, mainly Worthy in being a non-factor in this series.

Wish scottie never had started his whining, its pathetic. Everyone knows MJ was a far, far, far superior player in all facets of the game.
