Originally, I was fine with the first version. But now seeing what govee is releasing for version two I totally recommend spending the extra money with them. They’ll have better special effects and light shows that you can do.
Dude great video I have two of the older ones that I've never hooked up and I'm trying to think of the best way to do this... I have an arcade in my basement with about 50 games and I would love to make the ceiling but dimensions of three of the originals or at least two link them together and have kind of a light show on the ceiling while the games are playing down below I've got a drop ceiling with like I don't know 12x12 maybe bigger translucent panels but would love to somehow make what you made and then mount it in the ceiling as the ceiling and then have a great light show but not sure if having it hang flat and horizontal would work I mean it should what do you think?
I rely on gravity to let them hang and don’t secure them at the bottom. I think you just need to secure both ends of each strand. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work-it sounds like a great idea!
@JMARTs_Oasis yeah I don't see why that wouldn't work definitely securing them and making them kind of taunt and evenly dispersed I think it'd be a cool effect.

Yes, unfortunately you have to buy the right size kit! I bought the single version. Next year I might look at some the larger kits. Especially now that they enhanced some of the light show features! Govee is definitely leveling up with their software, but you have to be running version to to get these updates
lights going crazy... Neighbors: Hmm must be making another youtube video. haha side note if i were to buy three single panels of the version 2 i would get three power bricks and three controllers so i could separate them but would i be able to combine them still you think to create just one.. with only one of the power bricks and controllers? and just have the other two bricks and controllers as spares when needed.. looking at the hardware i think this would be possible.
That’s how the original version worked, but the new version (Version 2) doesn’t allow you to combine one kit with another unless Govee has addressed this issue. That’s why I’m currently using the first version. I might give the second version another try, but I’m also experimenting with some other brands. Lumary just released a new kit, which I may test to make a comparison.
I found the original version in a group of three would frequently end up out of sync group randomly leaving one or more panels no longer displaying the scene.
THANKS!
Is there much difference between govee 2nd generation and the original? How do you recommend the original?
Thank you this was very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Can they be cut@@JMARTs_Oasis
Are the 2 brighter and which do you prefer?

With the version 2, can we buy 3 single sets and sync them to make the long one ?
On the website for V2 it says it cannot be spliced, and if you want a longer variant you have to select from the models available

What is that effect called that you are using?
It’s a music scene called falling sand
I can’t imagine these in my home, but I’d like them on my outside wall, is that possible?
I’ve used them indoors and outdoors. They’re covered with awnings, and they seem fine outdoors. I just don’t leave them out permanently.

The version 2 only comes with 1 power brick and controller, no matter if you buy 1 or 3 panels. So only get the number of panels you need.
