My daughters asked this year to add the “house with the show” to our Christmas Bucket List. We appreciate your efforts to spread some Christmas cheer! Loved the show this year.
Holy SMOKES! I thought "I" was a gadget freak. You're my freaking HERO!! This stuff is BEYOND incredible!! I don't understand the view count or your subscriber count at all. How are you NOT at 1M subscribers?! Thanks for posting such awesome content!!

If you haven't worked it out already, a good security camera out the front together with Frigate in home assistant is able to track how many people are present at any one time. It does person/dog/cat/car etc etc etc. A google coral TPU is good if you have more than one camera, but a raspberry pi 4 can handle 1 camera. You could also put a wifi/bluetooth sensor in the front yard that detects peoples phones, most people have a device on them that emits a MAC address, home assistant will plot it all too. Finally, if you want your raspberry pis to run better, put them in a case with cooling. The Flirc ones are great becasue they are silent!!!
DrZzs!!! Man, I learned so much from your WLED videos and last year’s hacking of the Walmart LED Christmas tree. I’m thankful for you and your videos, man.
This is absolutely amazing. I love Christmas lights and spend over $100 every year, this is definitely next on my list and all the neighbors will be shook. Thanks!!
Ive wanted to make my house look like the Disney Castle for Christmas. I have no idea how to start. I guess I'll go to a store like Best Buy for a projector, and go from there. Thanks for the info.
God bless you for all your work. I'm just starting to do research. I know nothing and I'm not tech savvy so I will revisit this video once I learn a bit more. Thank you
Look into this....STARGLOW Light-Reflective SMART Paint. It's a retroreflective paint that is clear. Might be worth testing on a section to see how well it works for your application.
Could probably use 2 small laser diodes on the front corners of your roof pointing towards some sensors inside the projector box to let you know if its aligned or not. You could even use that data to tell the projector to move the image left/right automatically using the broadlink IR remote control you have in there. HAOS is more than capable of that.
That is amazing and (sneaky)I bet kids are looking all around the outside of your house for all the elves,Santa & everything else!!Bet it ain’t cheap!!
So, here's my logic...I plan on switching from an AC light show to a mapping show for two reasons, one, I'll no longer need to be hanging lights from Sept 15th to Thanksgiving night and secondly, at some point, I'm going to fall out of a tree or off a ladder. I too bought the Optima1080 but it is just not bright enough even with the 4,000 lumens. So, I appreciate you speaking about your 8,000-lumen projector. I'll stick around and check out your playlists. Thanks again!
Could you not use a Security Camera (Ubiquiti maybe) to feed the data back into the system for alignment? I know that if I had gone this far, it would be a short trip for the auto-alignment
Wow. Impressive. I think you need a bigger platform for the amount of effort you've put in. Maybe the city would hire you to do town hall or something like that.
Show looks GREAT! Just adding some thoughts. For this year, Have you considered upgrading to the new Raspberry Pi 5 ? for the video portion at least? Also I would recommend adding a heatsink and fan on those raspberry Pis. It will keep them much cooler and may even improve your performance of the pi 4s. Tried posting links to the Pi 5 and the Pi 5 Active cooler, but I assume links must be disabled. you can find both with a quick google for raspberry PI 5
So realistically, can this be done and how expensive would it be if I wanted to do this on this inside. Say a 30 feet wide stage for a kids area? Less expensive projector maybe?
I currently run a rgb pixel show with 25-30k lights. I’d like to add projection mapping into the sequences. Do you use xlights to set up timing for your pixels with show?
Have you gone to LUNA Fête? It’s in downtown New Orleans each winter and they’ve done some INSANE projection mapping. They did it in Lafayette square one year and projected onto Gallier Hall and it was super neat. I highly recommend you go and bring your kids this year if you haven’t been!
Great setup! One suggestion: maybe look into some of the video over IP standards (Dante AV, NDI, etc)? That way you can have a beefy computer in the house run the video+audio instead of being constrained by the RasPi, and feed it over the network line you already have run out there
Awesome video. I've been doing Pixels for 5 years now, and I am looking into projection now. Quick question. What's is the width of your projection and how far out is your projector?
I've watched a few of your videos! I'm 30' from the house and am projecting about 40' across. My Optoma 1090 could do a little better. This tool is super helpful: www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator-pro.cfm
@@BreakItYourself Thank you for answering. I thought you were using the Epson 1300. I also have about 40ft of that I will Like to cover. I will be contacting early next year for some advice. I have many questions. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and fantastic 2024.
Hello I live in Brooklyn, NY. with a 3 level brownstone (townhouse) what projector you suggest I use for house mapping? I would love to do this project.
May i ask why you are not using a project like PiFMRDS to broadcast the show instead of your current thing ? I'm planing to do the same on my house one year, i'l try next year as i'm not home for cristmas this year
Why not have a QR code instead of a button and trigger network relays from a small server. Basic freely available analytics tools can tell you how many shows were ran, how many unique users etc.
Regular old bed sheets. Not an ideal projection surface but significantly better than my red/pink brick. And check the description, it should have the link to the glass.
Having problems with the Raspberry PI 4 I bought per your link. The Hdmi doesn't work.....nothing is displayed when I create a playlist which all of which worked on my Roku which was previously hooked up to my projector. My format is MP4. Did you have problems with displaying your media and if so what did you do to fix your it?
How does the projection mapping work when you want a section to be dark, or you just don't want to project on to a certain part of the house? For example, I noticed that you had your path lit up, but the grass either side was dark. There wasn't an obvious "black screen" being projected onto the grass, it's as if there was no light at all hitting that.. How do you manage that? I've always assumed that you need to confine the edges of the projection to parts of the house that you do want to receive light, because there isn't a great way to block light entirely..
If you watch the full projection show video, you can see what video file is going to the projector. Essentially, anywhere I don't want a projection is just black. Some projectors will still light that area a little but generally, when contrasted with what you want to project it's not noticeable. th-cam.com/video/-4etb6nnQ_A/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BreakItYourself
I paused on the opersting specs. Umm whats the point if it cant operate below 32F? Night time temps during the Holiday season are 20 to 40 degrees below that.

Don’t let his efforts scare you. This is WAY overkill for a typical house projection. He has taken every step and gone next level with it. I’m not saying this as a bad thing. I WISH I had this much time and money to sink into my projections. Just saying it can be done with significantly less time, effort, and money. It won’t be as good as this but trust me, it will look good and people will love it.
I would love to see you produce a video on building a midsize projector enclosure. Hardly anyone on here has videos at length land/or quality builds. I only found 2 people on all of TH-cam that make these diy enclosures. Did you buy yours or diy? I like the little roof on it. It’s a cute enclosure and reminds me of a tiny ittle doghouse. I have to use a short throw projector enclosure since my front yard is so small.😢
Tempest makes indoor and outdoor projector enclosures. They take care of weather proofing, cooling and humidity. Actually its the enclosures we use for Happily Ever After and other outdoor installations. DIY enclosures are problematic to say the least.
Me encanta, me gustaría hacer algo parecido pero mi casa no tiene mucho jardín, apenas 2 automóviles caben ahí por ende no tengo donde poner protector para que abarque toda la casa
wow you really went all out I didn't realize there was this much work behind it, I mean just the physical stuff, not even the software. I wonder if you could have used some kind of white washing that could be hosed off like that tree flocking that comes in a can that I haven't been able to find in years, they used to sell a non toxic one that was just soap basically but I never see it any more. or maybe powder or something. probably not with all that humidity though.
What resolution did you end up going with? I am looking at using FPP so I can sync pixels with my mapping, but not sure if I want to give up the 4k resolution. I have only tested FPP with 1080p and 4k (definitely a no go). Also what codec are you doing your video files? Thanks
H265, and I'm getting 3418x1802. LOL, I tried at least 50 exports last year, trying different settings, and that's what works for me. However, I discovered this year during Halloween that if I keep the RP4 directly in the path of the incoming cool air from the house, I can get even higher resolution, haha, but due to time, I haven't tried going higher for Christmas. So next year I'll either try higher or attempt to get my hands on an RP5
I found a software called Facade Signage that is quite intuitive and easy to use. It’s about $40 a month but it literally takes minutes to trace the house. From that point you can load the image of video files your u created or downloaded for free right onto the house. It’s not for people who want to create their own animations. It’s for people who don’t have that kind of time but still want to projection map. I also use a 8k lumen projector because I live in a NYC suburb. Too much ambient light. My problem is the front of my property slips down and I have a ton of bushes. So it’s really not the best house.

Is there a link for the L1300u
it's been discontinued but I got mine from Audio General in their refurb section: www.audiogeneral.com/store/products/search?sort=price&type=19&mfg=23&condition=other
Wow, I want to do that !
Is projection mapping possible to learn, sir
Not from a Jedi
why loop the air back into your house though, why not just outside?
That would make my house negatively pressured, so anytime I open a door or window, we'd get an inrush of outside air.
@@BreakItYourself ohh gotcha. I didn’t think of that.
What did you use to get the temperature reading is it an app ?
for testing: the fireboard 2. For production in the box I'm using a zooz z wave device that reads temperature, humidity, vibration, motion, and brightness.
can you send links to all the lights you used for this display?
Never mind found it looooool thanks pal
Where can i purchase Projection glass?
