@KurtofTrades Hello friend, can you write a short comment about the situation you described in the video, I will translate it, thank you. I am experiencing a similar situation in my outback vehicle
I’ve asked a few car savvy people at work, and they had no idea. It usually happens on warm days after I’ve been driving awhile. This video is a god send. Thank you!
Wow, I was looking for so long and this was the first video that explained and was straight to the point. I really appreciate the work you put into this video as it helps ease my stress!
Have had this issue on my '13 Impreza for years. To avoid long cranking times I will turn on the ignition and wait for five seconds while the gauges do their sweep and then hit the starter. It will usually start right up. Try it.
My 2014 outback does it every one or two other starts. Soo annoying. Thanks for letting me know. I will check this out at my upcoming oil change. I 🤔 thought was I hold the key turn too long or what.
Hey Kurt thanks for the video. My legacy 2013 manual transmission has a similar problem of a long crank but only after the car sits overnight or all day while I’m at work as opposed to you where you’re saying it does it when the car is warm. Battery is new Nothing is draining the battery overnight Starter has enough power Any idea what it could be? Thanks!
I just bought a Toyota Yaris 2021, when I was testing the car before driving, the issue never appeared because they didn't let the car sit for more than 10 minutes (that's when usually starts cranking a few seconds before starting), this is the first video that adresses the same problem that I'm having, gonna try it and I'll see if it get better. Battery is new, so it would be just about changing the spark plugs.
Got a 2018 Forester with the slow cranks. Just got the battery replaced , and the spark plugs were done a few months ago. I’m not sure if it’s the starter now that’s dying , but it’s still making that noise. Any thoughts ??
My situation happened to be inside the fuel tank. It was a nearly torn in half wire to the fuel pump. Same symptoms on hot days or while pulling into a gas station, filling up and it would not start until it cools down
@@VictorPoulin it did for a little bit but started happening again. I don’t drive as much now that it’s winter. Once it starts getting warmer again I’ll get a scanner and take a look at live data to see if that’ll help. If I get results I will let you know. 😁
@@truth4012 Thank you for the reply. I received the same basic reply from someone else that changed the plugs. If I find more info I will also get back to you.
Nothing. Replacing the battery erases it's memory so whatever the real issue is will come back. Now if we're talking about a dead battery dropping below 10-11 volts while cranking then possibly you'll start losing power to injectors and coils, but long crank time won't be the main complaint. It'll be a no crank complaint.
My 2017 legacy is doing this now. My car vibrates a bit when the ac is on and now it hesitates to start alot. I believe it's the spark plugs. (59000 miles)
09 Subaru legacy 2.5i I changed my alternator my fuel pump battery cam position sensor car still won’t start up what can be the cause of this I did change spark plugs awhile back but did switch coil pack wires could that be why my car don’t wanna start up all the way? It crank but won’t cut on
These cars are POS’s. I’m having massive issues with my moms (‘12 Impreza) and my wife’s (‘14 Impreza sport). I switched to Toyotas. Never going back to Subaru. Ever.
Have had two recent Subarus Both seem to take "longer" to start than other vehicles. I think that is just a Subaru thing. Weak starters and lower CCA stock batteries
mine is the opposite? this happens when its cold and when i havent used it for a couple hours. ive changed the spark plugs, coils, and the wires. How to know if it is the battery? I have doubts that its the problem it seems fine, My last thought could be the fuel pump but idk.
@@VictorPoulin haven’t noticed a major difference so far, only happened once since doing so… it still turned over… I have push button start, and makes me miss regular turn-key starts
@@IncptnLive Same boat as you. Battery made no difference and was going to do plugs as they need replacing anyway. My remote start also fouls and sometimes need to push the button a second time. Thanks for getting back to me.
Hey man I have 11,000 miles on my 2019 crosstrek and the it left me stranded yesterday, no crank no start all dash light on. Checked relays and fuses, not thinking that’s the issue and the alternator is freespinning and not cranking. Have you heard of this problem before for these starters? Thanks for giving a read any advice halos!
Why do I feel like Subaru owners have battered spouse syndrome? Always making excuses why they stay loyal to cars with so many problems. It's like a hobby car. Always something to fix. Almost like it's fun to determine what the issue is and how to fix it.
There’s a lot of brand loyalty out there, Subaru, dodge, Jeep seem to have big cult followings. I like Subaru cause I have had a good experience with them and haven’t had many issues. I agree though
What was the technical bulletin? To say this is an issue withb2014 specifically then say the fix is new plugs or battery doesn't make sense unless your saying that for that year only they used bad plugs. 🤔
I am currently having this problem on a 14 wrx Impreza. I’m noticing some acid coming out from the positive terminal. Also making my CEL come on. Should I replace the battery first and go from there?
If you found this helpful consider sending me a Super Thanks with the icon below the video, ❤💰 I will buy a Coffee with it! ☕

My 2014 forester does this sometimes not often but enough to get my attention thanks for the advice bro!
This same issue is happening on my Outback 2008. Thank you for the advice.
Currently having this issue in my 21 Crosstrek sport. Recently I changed my spark plugs to no avail guess battery next! Thanks for the video!!

Thanks for your information. My 2014 Forester XT has slow start when it's cold so mine rules out the vapor builds up. Not a big concern, only curious!
Well it’s in the tune file. You have to physically change the injector duty cycle compensation during cranking to actually fix it.

My brand new 2023 Outback does this. It wasn't something I was expecting on a new car.
My 23 Crosstrek does this too. 😢
2020 outback does this. It's just a boxer quirk
Thank you I was thinking of doing the spark plugs and see what happens.

What does an old battery have to do with fuel injectors?

We just had a new batter, new plugs, fuel system cleaned, new crank sensor and PCM update and STILL have a hard start issue when warm.
Same with my veloster.
Did you try changing the crankshaft sensor?
I have a brand new 2023 crosstrek and am noticing this already which is freaking me out.
Keep us posted on what the seller did to fix it please.

mines on cold days it takes forever or doesn’t crank!!! Alternator and plus and battery are fine on mine!!! Anyone know what it is?
Spark plugs. Possibly. From what I gathered looking into my situation, it seems like spark plugs.
have the same problem in the cold with my 18 forester. did you end up fixing it ??
What's a normal crank length? Like 2-3 seconds or 3-4 seconds?
Usually if it’s over like 2 I consider that long. It should start pretty quick.
111,000 miles..... I should do the plugs.
Everything you said happens, got a new battery, but still happens at random when engine is warm… will get the spark plugs next, and then other items
