Early seventies raced minibikes all over Michigan. Rode silver shadow in open class . Got to race Jeff Ward on his factory Honda and that kid was fast . His team came here from California to race world finals . Rupp Ruttman Speedway they were all there . Ruttman built a twin engine Tecumseh for the national called it freight train , love to see that mini again total badass. Love your channel thanks .

i'm not much of a bike guy Mike iv always been afraid to fall off and crash with the things, but you seem to love them, awesome upgrades buddy. Thank you for the video. You guys in the states always have the coolest toys, feels like so far east it takes about 5-10 years for the stuff to arrive that has been in the states all along 😂😂
Loving the mini bike videos! Watching your first one inspired me to get my own. Now I’m riding around with my 8 year old son and got a few of my friends into them.
I have a ct200exu and my friends all have the bt200 chassis. The bt is so much nicer and smoother. We ride 50+ miles a day on dirt roads in pa and they are amazing little machines once you put a cvt on them.
When I was a kid , racing karts, I was getting beat on the regular by on kart. No matter how much I had worked on my kart , engine and driving. I took the head off and carried it to the muffler shop. I looked at shop owner and said do see the crack by the sparkulator, weld it up. Ground it down so it didn’t hit the piston. The extra metal took up space in the chamber and made more compression. That made me even with him .
I absolutely love these types of videos man. We are all addicted to upgrades, and love watching the results. I've got a BW80 that I lifted 6 inches, and fabricated a modular sub-frame around a 212. I just finished making a dual sprocket roller hub to allow the rearend to flex without putting tension on the chain. Now I'm moving on to the 212 upgrades. It's very rewarding when you achieve more power and top speed. Looking forward to the next vid bud.
Ahhhhhh, brings back memories of these types of motorbikes, 80 honda and two 50 Hondas growing up. Not much power but loads of fun in the mountains of WV. AWESOME VIDEO Mike!!! 👍👍
Hey Mike, when are we going to get another mini bike video? 😀 Love all your videos but been at the edge of my seat for like a year now waiting to see what else you did and if you went to a torque converter or not 😅
I love your headlights. Where are they from? I just got my first bike at 49(50 in 2 months), omg I feel like a kid again. Every morning that I can I go rip it down the powerline near my house. Its the bike from Lowes(think ct200-uEX but carbon black) all I could get here but I love it. Man is it torquey and can get away from me a little. I kinda like my clutch and not wanting to switch to a cvt though, just preference I guess. Anyway you are one of the guys that helped me decide I am not too old to wake up the boy in me still. Ty
Being that I'm not nearly as mechanical as you, Ima go with the ghost after i get tired of my oem engine. Ive got this same coleman and you and your bros videos are great. Thanks Mike!
I want one. I put a 212 Predator/Chins comet 30 10/49 gearing on a 1980 yamaha DT125 enduro. I have the title it does great Im going to put a lighting coil in so it can charge I will put the horn turn signals lights and brake and tail light. it does 55 flat out fast enough. you gave me the bug Mike im 57 and still like to play:) Godspeed

The only thing I don't like about the BT200: when I weighed 200 lb, it would nose dive when hitting brakes while turning. But then I got down to 175 lb and it stopped. My RB200 came with stiffer suspension fork and seems more stable at high speeds, but the BT200 turn radius is better on tight trails
these bikes are so much fun. I have had mine for a couple years (ct 200u ex)just kept them stock, we have enjoyed them and mainly use them when camping to putt around and just explore , the one I ride the most finally got to the point where I needed to replace the engine, it was just smoking really bad , still works, actually runs faster than the newer less worn out one but I figured it would be fun to swap out to the 224. right off the bat it is very noticeably better even with everything else still completely stock. I do not necessarily care to be doing jumps and going 70 miles per hour on a mini bike with no rear suspension but now I am really interested in doing some of the upgrades, everything with these bikes is inexpensive so you do not need to invest much to really add a lot of performance. I see there is now one with rear swing arm....very tempting to buy it, my only real gripe with these bikes is the lack of rear suspension.
Hey thank you for the video! I want to weld up one of these some day. I think i will use this old 2cyl snow blower engine. I think its a 5hp, super light 😎. I think because of you i will make a video of out of it and add it to my channel. I just have trans am videos on there now but hey maybe someone will enjoy it like i enjoyed watching yours 🍻
I had problems with my exact flywheel! The $40 alloy flywheel kept coming loose! Shearing my key eventually. I lapped the poop outta it, idk why I had so many problems with it? Same 224cc engine and flywheel! Anyway, gr8 edit btw!!
It's not a stock flywheel so you wouldn't use the stock torque spec of 54 ft/lbs. I have used 65 ft/lbs and no key on two engines and they haven't spun.
Those mini trucks are great. Here in Michigan you cannot license them to drive them on public roads because the UAW paid the government to ban them here !
The more I see these Harbor Freight engines and their performance parts go up in price the less they make sense. The parts alone for this thing just to keep it from grenading into your crotch cost as much as a Tillotson 212, which comes from the factory as pretty much a stage 3 1/2 Predator but more durable and reliable. You can just yank the governor out of a Tilly and have a 10HP GX200 clone that'll actually last.
I agree, the Tillotson 212 is a great motor and value. The Ducar 212 is also a really good motor and comes with a PVL flywheel, slightly better carb and block reinforcement casting. But…. The 224 and Ghost are not that different and longevity should be equal to these other 2 motors. Why? Because they all have something in common, they are all manufactured by Ducar. 👍
I took my Coleman minibike and took that 196 out of it or whatever and I bought a predator and I put a state three kit in it and a torque converter different sprocket and that thing will go anywhere mean I’m a little over 200 pounds and that thing will freaking wheelie and pull me up any hill I can go on And it’s super dependable well I did a lot of work to that motor. You know I call the stage three kid, but I’m probably went a little further than that but it’s a powerhouse well worth it. It wasn’t that cheap but it’s worth it though. The power in dependability is unbelievable.
I liked and subscribed. I have a dirtbike that is over qualified for the trail riding i do in middle ga. I have been looking at minis. What would be your suggestion for tight trails and hills like gullies? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Great video. I wish I had another bike and rider to compare the way you guys are. I'm thinking of getting that flywheel just to verify once and for all what they are timed at. I have heard a few different timings from others. Those flywheels appear to be a copy of the Honda GX200 aluminum which are timed to 22 BTDC. It's just a matter of taking the time to verify it with a timing wheel. You guys must have different gearing? A stock Ghost shouldn't have more power than what you have now. The Champion rockers alone are a long known plus 1.5 HP. And you are running more cam and compression.
Do you think these bikes could work for extended trail riding/camping, like a rugged 60 mile loop? My fondest memories are riding trails with family. I'd like to share this experience with in-laws and thier kids...but the insane cost of ATVs makes that impossible. I'm really appreciative of you two putting all of this content out there. These Coleman bikes are just the ticket if they can handle long trips. I already have some plans in mind for a uhmw guide on the lead-in side to mitigate the chains comming off. Thanks again!
Those mini bikes are pretty slick. Glad to see you removed the oil sensor from the engine, nothing like have the engine shut off on you are you whip it around a corner or pull a wheelie. Oops
Hi! One of my friends on Instagram shared your video to my chat. I still get guys messaging me about intakes. 🤘 Thanks man. I just started a TH-cam channel this year.
Black66 has been a great channel for mini bike mods. He’s done just about every combination of engine and parts to see what really makes you faster. I can’t wait to see you smoke your brother off the line and in top speed!
Yes Black66 is definitely a great channel! I just subscribed to his channel a few weeks back. I think his channel will grow really fast 🙂👍 Thanks for checking out my new video Matt!
Hey Mike at 17:10 i noticed there was a lash cap was missing on one of your valve springs before you put the rockers on. Did you find one left over after the build?
I never see nibbi carbs on any minis? I run one on my ct200U that got 18 or 22lbs springs full governor removed, full top plate with full pump, the nibbi 28 carb, nibbi throttle and cable, short exhaust header off eBay. I get right about 35mph out of her but don’t hold it at thet she cruises at like 28 to 30! I love the nibbi stuff plus it looks so much better than the mikuni!
No torque converters on those minis??? That made such a difference to my mini bike (ct200u). Thats pretty much all I did and it will climb pretty steep hills even with my big (260lbs) body on it. Even had my 37lbs 4 year old on it with me and climbed a decently steep hill without any bogging what so ever. The torque converters are so much better than the cent clutches
not sure if you have looked into the comet torque o-verter tav 30 clones . you can find them on ebay for right around 60 .search mini bike torque converter direct swap for the stock jackshaft assembly your bike came with . you can swap out springs to adjust when the driver engages
I usually add a small bit of black silicone sealant to the intake gasket because these small engines are prone to intake air leaks. Thanks for checking out my mini bike video 🙂👍
You guys drive them pretty hard. How are the drums brakes working out with the added power/speed. Any plans on upgrading those or are they sufficient ?
I installed a clutch lever from a full sized dirt bike and the added leverage really helped the rear drum brake, you can skid it at full speed. The next project for this mini bike is a front dust brake, that’s definitely needed now with more power and speed 👍 Thanks for checking out my new mini bike video!
Great video, just curious how are you running your head light with that style fly wheel. I'm in the process of building a bt200 I went with torque converter and a 60 tooth sprocket. If you switch that Jack shaft you will love it. Not only do you get more power low end and long run when your coasting down hill it free wheels, cut out on all that chain noise much smother ride. I'm 300 plus I can set all the way up to front of seat and it still pulls the front wheel up with just a slightly modified 196cc and a lot of adjusting with that TC.
The Ghost 212 have better acceleration then the predator 224 which is probably because of its 6k rev limiter in the ghost. When it comes to speed 224 got it!!
Can you fit a torque converter on that bike? Put one of them black drivers from go power sports for the top end Also you could go a 24 mm makuni clone carb with those mods! Lastly head work get the head milled and port it some to get the last performance out of it
Next time you go in the motor. Take your crank out and put it in a vise and take a hammer and knock that governor gear off the crank it’s easy. Saves weight on rotating mass. Don’t need it anymore
I have an old frame and a pred 212 sitting around, I've thought about ordering some Chinese upgrades and setting it up. I don't know tho, those little frames were fun when I was a teenager, I think I'd be better off with a set up like you guys have 👍
If you have most of the parts around you might consider building it up at least for now, you could always find a BT200x frame like we have with a bad engine on CL at some point and swap in the 212 engine? One other thing, if you get your mini bike going, you should try and get a friend or two into them, they are definitely a lot of fun when you have a few people to ride with 🙂👍
@@Mikefestiva I think I like option B, I remember how unstable those things were with a stock Briggs 5hp back in the day, I'm much more fragile these days 😆

I get right about 35mph out of her but don’t hold it at thet she cruises at like 28 to 30! I love the nibbi stuff plus it looks so much better than the mikuni!
At 7:45 he said “1, 2, 3 go!” Then I got a Bounty ad with Pitbull saying “1, 2, 3, 4 uno, dos, tres, cuatro” I swear 😂 awesome timing.
Lean carburetor from the decel popping Great riding skills thanks for the content
Thanks 👍
not sure if you have looked into the comet torque o-verter tav 30 clones . you can find them on ebay for right around 60 .search mini bike torque converter
direct swap for the stock jackshaft assembly your bike came with . you can swap out springs to adjust when the driver engages
I'm looking at doing a very similar mod to my Mega Moto 212 with a Predator 224 on it.
good solid build may i ask what u lubed on the intake gasket
I usually add a small bit of black silicone sealant to the intake gasket because these small engines are prone to intake air leaks. Thanks for checking out my mini bike video 🙂👍
You guys drive them pretty hard. How are the drums brakes working out with the added power/speed. Any plans on upgrading those or are they sufficient ?
I installed a clutch lever from a full sized dirt bike and the added leverage really helped the rear drum brake, you can skid it at full speed.
The next project for this mini bike is a front dust brake, that’s definitely needed now with more power and speed 👍
Thanks for checking out my new mini bike video!
Cool conversion!
If you like these, check out the Yamaha Bw200 or the Bw350.
The Ghost 212 have better acceleration then the predator 224 which is probably because of its 6k rev limiter in the ghost. When it comes to speed 224 got it!!
Hi man I love the channel and I absolutely love your mini bike videos, keep us updated!👍🏻
Right on! Thanks man 😊👍
Great video Mike. That looks fun!
Thanks Carl! 🙂
Fine upgrades! Did you guys go to Tahuya?
Loving those electro tracks you had playing, who's the artist?
Can you fit a torque converter on that bike? Put one of them black drivers from go power sports for the top end
Also you could go a 24 mm makuni clone carb with those mods!
Lastly head work get the head milled and port it some to get the last performance out of it
'Juggernaut' is the strong clutch for belt drive.
How much money you got in that little ripper if you don't mind me asking?? Sweet machine man.
Mini bikes are so fun, I was beating everything but 250s T2 and 450s drag racing at my local ATV park.
These little engines can definitely take mods really well 👍 plus these mini bikes are quite lightweight 🙂
Good time man!
Are these ruckus head lights? Or maybe Yamaha warrior? I’m curious, I am currently building a bt200x and I’m digging the lights!
Next time you go in the motor. Take your crank out and put it in a vise and take a hammer and knock that governor gear off the crank it’s easy. Saves weight on rotating mass. Don’t need it anymore
Just one time i wanna see that gike headed down the road with your brother behind
Can you do a review video on your welding table? I am looking to get one but not much info out there on the Arc Flats.
Love these minibike videos , you really know your stuff Mike What speeds are you both reaching ?
Thanks Jesse! I really appreciate it man 👍🙂 It’s good to hear from you!
WOW looks like fun 😃
You still have your bike?
You're actually one of the first people with a mini bike that I found on youtube when I first got interested in them.
