We've earned the disrespect over the last 5 years. Time to rewrite the script.

The Chargers will be greater than the sum of their parts. The Harbaugh effect.

Better to be under the radar and surprise teams than last years preseason over-hype. My optimistic guess as a fan
    . . . Bolts go 10 - 7 and win the wild card game

Herbert IS second best in the league and that will be proven this year with better protection like Chiefs have PERIOD. MY PERSPECTIVE .😅

They didn't get disrespected, they are being rank according to how they performed last year. Once the year starts then the rankings will change for the best or worse.

I disagree with Herbert at #9. He was hurt a lot of last year, partly due to a porous O-line. I agree with our WR's. We're pretty thin. D-Line... yup. Not great. O-line at #15 - fair. Rashawn is great, Zion is okay, Bozeman is mid, Pipkins we have no idea about at guard and Alt is completely unproven.

Excited to see if Palmer has taken a bit of a jump though I think he's actually pretty good. He's been WR2 for as long as Williams and Allen were getting hurt. And with some good coaching... think he'll be better than people round the league think. Scheme makes the difference too sometimes.

I was really championing your channel, but you guys are starting to worry me.
Herbert with solid receivers and time is top 5. Definitely talent wise anyway.
RB is a high question mark. The Chargers have had every HC since Norv Turner and a myriad of OCs that were going to commit to the run and change the offensive dynamic. Two RBs were drafted top 20 to help (though only one really bad one under Terrible Tommy Telesco). Austin Ekeler a UDFA was the best back since Norv. LG, C and RG are still hugh what ifs.
WR is indeed tricky. Keenan Allen is a huge loss. Mike Williams was vastly overrated…but Josh Palmer is not a one, a two or even a three under normal circumstances. If he is on the field for you something is seriously wrong.
The edge rushers are good, but how much of Mack and Bosa will make the game? Will Bosa finally learn discipline under Harbaugh? Will he have a better season than his career best that was merely average?
The IDL is indeed the worst in the league right now. Impossible to question.
The LBs are still slow. Perryman is a liability in pass coverage and really is not that great of a tackler. They are banking on miracles with the IDL and LB positions.
The secondary needs last year and this year’s draft picks to show up. The secondary has been epically bad during the Telesco era. One squad was historically bad. Samuel Jr and company simply do not have speed. They cannot run with average receivers. Maybe a rookie can.
Derwin James once looked great, but that hasn’t been him since signing his big contract. Last season he was a penalty machine, either for head hunting or for Bosa like temper tantrums in crucial spots. Alohi Gilman looked good compared to the atrocious play around him, but his is literally so slow a Pop Warner TE could beat him even when he has a 20 yard head start as the deep safety.
Check the film on Fehoko running right by him for a deep ball with at least 10 yards of separation. Now watch last year’s all 22 film of that being an every game occurrence.
Cam Hart or even Jefferson would be a much better option.
There is a reason him contract is structured so that there would be no cap hit this year if traded or released. And if there is a team out there willing to part with a pick for him…they should not hesitate. Gilman runs a 4.6 forty on his best day. You know what other position runs that? 4-3 OLB. The average NFL OLB runs a faster forty than the team’s last line of defense in the secondary. That is not good.
Telesco built a horribly slow defense and collection of offensive skill groups. Hortiz has only had a no money off season and one draft to help improve that.
The Chargers finished 27th last year. Until they change that, these low grades are more than fair.
And I am a die hard Telesco hating Charger fan from way back in the ‘70s. Key word is fan. I am a fan, not a cheerleader and the roster is improved in some areas, but still very slow on defense and unproven everywhere but QB on offense.
    Just the truth.
