People forget that the Chargers lost 7 games by a field goal last year, 10 games were by a touchdown or less. That coaching staff mismanaged the talent on the roster, plain and simple. Ekeler, Williams, Allen, and Lindsley are all gone yes. But three of those players were missing from most of the season anyway and Keena as great as he is is in the twilight of his career. I thought Hortiz getting a 4th rounder for him was genius. That line is gonna be a monster this year. Upgrades at running back, new additions at WR, definitely upgraded their TE room. The defense could still be a problem though I think their LB room got better and the coaching should be better. Staley lost the room last year which is why the Raiders killed them in the second meeting. Well that and the Chargers were resting their starters if they even stubbed a toe knowing the season was lost. People are sleeping on the Bolts, they are gonna kick some @ss this year
Great interview! Not trying to hate or anything but around 3:40 in the video the part where it says head coach Jim Harbaugh is right, but the OC and DC are not accurate. OC is Greg Roman, DC is Jessie Minter.
I am CHARGERS fan am optimistic more then most am not buying HARBUGH goes 10-7 I got the bolts winning 12-5 and taking the arc west from the Chiefs they have harder schedule
I think Justin and the Chargers are about to pull ahead of teams in the years to come. I think old age injuries and coaches retiring will influence how the chargers start moving forward.
Andy Reid isn’t long for this coaching world. He has maybe 3-4 years in the tank left. The chiefs win 1 more to compete a 3-peat and I’m guessing he hangs it up after this season. If they don’t, he’ll bleed coordinators as always and guys are due some more $, something we have PLENTY of going forward for 3 years. Mahomes is at his peak. Hes not going to get better than he already is. He is the best I’ve ever seen, but he’s beatable with a well coached defense. We need to become that Bucs team that thrashed him. So physically dominant. We always keep it within a score playing finesse ball with no physicality or good coaching… we’ll start at least with a split this year. At least once in the next 3 seasons we will sweep them. The tides of a dynasty never last (sans patriots which will never occur again, and even they didn’t win a Super Bowl after their first 3 for a decade). We are the only team capable of taking down this monster in KC. Us and maybe Baltimore. Baltimore is amazing, but we have a better QB when the potential is realized like when we had Shane Steichen and Shane day as the OC and qb coach his rookie year with a awful line and no receivers by week 5. Herbert is going to never throw it 61 times a game, more like 24-35 and will double his yardage per attempt as we gash teams on the ground. We only need to beat KC once and take care of the rest of our schedule which honestly should only result in at most 5 other losses. We WILL make the playoffs with a bare minimum record of 10-7 and a ceiling of 13-4. Anthony Lynn got us to 12-4 with no line. WE STAY SEMI HEALTHY AND WE WILL ROUTE TEAMS AND NOT LOSE THE CLOSE ONES ANYMORE. BTFU
My exact thoughts, although I could see a 7-seed 9-8 due to a brutal conference with zero talent in the nfc at QB aside from… Caleb Williams? Hurts?? Rogers wont last 5 games, Jordan love I believe had a lucky first year and will be middling, Goff is good but not great. Would be like Derek Carr if on the raiders. Every top 10 QB is in the AFC. Chiefs, ravens, bills, bengals chargers Texans, even the colts and jags. Atlanta has the best shot at taking down SF who has a safe qb with an all star offense that is mind boggling. To me the chiefs, ravens, Texans are our threats.
My biggest question is who’s gonna lead the way on this team this season? The offense or the defense? At this point in the off-season I’m leaning more towards the defense, but you got Herbert who might actually have a solid run game finally. We just need some recievers to step up and that’s why I’m leaning defense right now. I think our edge room will make our secondary look good
Our defense will be top 10 we have the best edge rushers and the best 2 safety the D line needs work and I believe in the CB asanti Samuel jr is a beast and Fulton should be better this year
All my Charger fan fam, if you are expecting better that 11 wins is kind of Faideresque in delusion. Yes I would love it, but come on. We have a lot of prove it rentals and need to have the injury bug hide itself for a change. For me, less than 9 wins is a disappointment, 10 with a wild card, and 11 with a playoff win or two is a ceiling for year one. THAT would be exciting and encouraging. Whatever offense we are running, we have Herbo, and he is wins. The problem for a decade has been the defense. Herbo has never had a defense average #28 his whole career. You can’t win games as a team like that. Get them into the top 15 year one and yeah, playoffs, top 10? Maybe to the Championship game. The future is bright, don’t oversell your expectations year one and get frustrated.
Interesting some perceive Staley as overly egotistical. Too stubborn in his viewpoint possibly. Also amusing that certain people involved with football are singled out as egotistical…seems pointless as the list is very long.
It is good to see two people being honest about the secondary. If Alohi Gilman is considered one of your better players in the secondary…you are in serious trouble. Casual fans clinging to the “PFF said he was good!” must have forgotten they also overrated Desmond King and he was toasted any time he was asked to cover WRs or TEs with even average speed. Gilman is even slower than King. He is literally slower than average 4-3 OLBs in the NFL. He may have heart, but he does not have the physical tools to be an NFL starter. Hopefully Cam Hart earns the starting role, or even Jefferson and the Chargers find a trade partner (coincidentally they structured his contract to allow for this scenario with no cap impact in 2024). I can’t imagine a GM not named Telesco failing to recognize Gilman as a liability any time a team passes…but fingers crossed the team can get anything for him. But cornerback is the real concern. Right now, rookie potential aside…there isn’t a legitimate starter on the roster. Teams with receivers possessing average speed could run four verts all game and break NFL passing and receiving records. There just isn’t any speed in any of the projected starters at CB, FS and Derwin James has been playing like a head case/penalty machine. Telesco really screwed the defense with his apparent hatred of speed and tackling ability.
Desmond was a B to B+ slot corner but he got absolutely eaten for breakfast by Edelman in that playoff game vs New England when we went into the half down 28-7 and got routed in the 2018-19 season. Alohi isn’t a corner though. We also have a regime that can use very basic principals to cover weaknesses and use our strengths like blitzing a bad corner along with a 4 man rush and drop Mack into short flats and bring an LB as well. The scheme is so simple yet so hard to diagnose. We will finish as a top 12-20 defense (and really that’s all we need is to finish 20 in run D and pass D with our new mauling program up front on offense and stable of good backs, as long as all 3 don’t go down we are fine. I’m worried about WR, but then again, when Shane day was around w Herbert as a rookie he tossed 31 TDs with 2 guys nobody had ever heard of on go routes by using his legs and creating balance with statistically the WORST OFFENSIVE LINE OF ANY TEAM IN 12 YEARS BRO! And he played only 15 games. We have Harbaugh, Day, Minter, Herbert and a top 5 quality starting 5. As long as our 2 tackles don’t get hurt we are fine. Even if slater goes down, we know Salyer can play LT
TLDR: yes we have holes, but we’ve never had coaching like this before. The chiefs made it pretty far and won a Super Bowl then got blown out in another with holes all over their roster defensively. They WERE COACHED VERY WELL THOUGH.
3/3: the chiefs been playing chess while we’ve been playing checkers. Now we got Bobby Fisher as our HC. We’ll win MIN 10 games and by 2026 we’ll be on par with the ravens, niners, as teams who are top 5 in the nfl trying to take the crown from KC and make a deep playoff run if not winning it all. It’s a 3 year project and then that window is going to stay open for another 5 years easy .
Derwin: LAST YEAR: was asked to be their edge, deep safety, linebacker, ball hawk, CB1 and deep safety in single high with a focus on whoever was the WR1. Nobody can do that. Let him do his and only his job and he will kill it. Playing Strong safety and blitzing 2-3 times a game and you’ll see rookie Derwin with more instinctual benefits and production
Whatever honesty this video had was thrown away with the discussion of Greg Roman. "The run game & TE play gets better wherever he goes" is a poor spin on "he shuts down the passing game so completely that the TEs may as well do nothing but block for RBs." He's so awful the NFL had to threaten Kurt Warner to tone down his videos about how bad it was & those were already going light on him. He turned a QB who had 36 TDs to only 6 INTs & reduced him to 16 & 13, less than half & more than double. What great talent.
✅
Bolted up support from O’Side screaming 11 wins. LFG 👊🏾🎤⚡️🏈
Great job Tyler🎉
👋👋 proof there's at least one Chargers fan
😁🤝⚡🤙

Im the second
That makes 4
There’s realistically about 50k die hards and maybe another 100k meh fans that are into it when they are juggernauts

I’m going 15-2 I have a really really good feeling about this year. I’m not worried about great expectations. 😂 good book.
you crazy 😂
That’s a bit of a reach, I could see 13-4 as a ceiling and 9-8 or 10-7 as a floor. I expect 11-6 to 12-5 realistically
Great interview! Not trying to hate or anything but around 3:40 in the video the part where it says head coach Jim Harbaugh is right, but the OC and DC are not accurate. OC is Greg Roman, DC is Jessie Minter.
Yeah where did those names even come from?

Floor is 9 wins. Ceiling 11.
Chargers will make the playoffs with Harbaugh.
Great job here Tyler just like on Guilty as Charged. Palmer, Q and Ladd will be fine as a group. Go Bolts!
thank you!!!
12-4 this season plus a wildcard win anything better is above expectations bolt up ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Can’t finish 12-4 anymore it’s either 12-5 or 13-4
How is Feinberg not doing this preview???
12 wins ✨
12-5

Had the exact same floor and ceiling
13-4 would be crazyy
So, Tyler . You 2 guys not working along side the Chargers team pod cast any more ? Not , SEEN you 2 on for months, now .
a long story without all chapters written just yet!
@@tylerschoon237 Your still dodging the [ ? ] are you not ? Else they [CHARGERS ] have you in OR not , form my point of view .

Right now, I'd take a NO # 20 defense , that would be a good 6 to 8 spots HIGHER then we have been the last 4 + years !

Asante Samuel has been so good in evert game he plays. Why doesn't anyone give him his roses.
Boom or bust. The PBUs are incredible. The yards allowed and lack of true run support are the other side that isn't so fun
5th easiest schedule with the MOST travel miles….
The term “generational talent” is SO overused by sports analysts
