    Not sure why the guy at the end said EV sales in the US are less then 2% of sales when you simply rewind his own news cast they started the segment saying EV sales are 5.2% of sales. Considering Ford doubled investment in production for Electric F150 and still could not keep up with orders (they stopped taking any more orders until they can get caught up) and you can’t buy any EV “off the lot” I would say the demand is there already.

      Not if those prices don't drop. They need to follow Tesla's model. Reduce the basic model to around 40 k, peak everyone's interest, get hundreds of thousands of sales then slowly raise the price back up. Tesla's Model S is not selling anywhere near the model 3/Y because it's too expensive. Model 3/Y sales are around 79 %. Model S/X sales are around 16 %. In addition, Tesla is not their direct competitor, Ford is. They are directly competing against the F-150 lighting which will sell more units because it's halve the price with a reliable name and 100 % more resources (Ford service shops).

      @@jamaljamal6169 that’s why Rivian already has plans for R2 line of vehicles and also don’t forget the EDV’s for Amazon

    • @jamaljamal6169
      @jamaljamal6169 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Rx100Vx Plans and action are 2 different things. A new start-up company starts off in debt. They need high volume sales to sustain. While 100 k orders from Amazon might sound great, you have to look at Bezos track record. He's always looking for a deal and always trying to undercut to make it happen. Bezos is also a user. He will have Rivian overproducing (at a discounted bulk rate) those trucks to were they're not producing any trucks for personal orders as fast as they need too.

    • @Rx100Vx
      @Rx100Vx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jamaljamal6169 well you provided advice in your comment , All I’m saying is they were following just that. While agreed Amazon would look for a good deal but they do also own 17% stake in Rivian. Also , going by your initial example .. Tesla sold Roadster .. then Model S and only then came 3 .. see the similarity ?. Only difference, as Tesla already paved the path of electrification , Rivian does not have to wait 7 years .. they just do it now .. also they have 16 billion in cash at the moment and they just announce Q2 production and delivery ramp numbers . So yeah I’m positive

    • @jamaljamal6169
      @jamaljamal6169 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Rx100Vx The Roadster didn't sell well and was eventually discontinued due to being too high priced. The model S isn't selling that well either. Tesla S was selling very slowly when it first came out and still is as compared to 3/Y. Once 3/Y came out, they start selling like hot cakes and put Tesla on the map. Now that Tesla has sold enough units, made a semi-name for itself, and has generated interest, they are slowly raising the prices on 3/Y. Tesla is also owned by the richest man in the world. Tesla has laid the groundwork for Rivian, why are they following the same struggle path when the shortcut to success is to the left? Also, Amazon owns 20 % of Rivian. That's even worst, again, Bezos is all about business and he does not play fair. Bezos will position himself to take over Rivian all while using Scaringe at the same time but making him think they are best friends. Amazon owns more stock in Rivian than Scaringe. This will be an interesting watch but I did enjoy your rebuttals.

    Look at the vehicle and its competition. Are you looking at a Grand Wagoneer? The R1S is competition in an electric vehicle. Are you looking at a GMC Denali? The R1S is competition. Chevy Tahoe -- same thing. It's not competition if you are looking at Ford Maverick/Escape/Edge. There are lots of less expensive electric vehicles but most are more expensive than their ICE counterparts. Weigh your cost of fuel, gas vrs electricity, your commitment to the environment, and any tax breaks you might get for going electric. I have an R1T and I absolutely love it. The interior is gorgeous. The acceleration is outstanding. I will never use all of the truck's features. I estimate the cost of fuel in this medium to full-size pickup truck at $.075/per mile when I charge at home. Rivian will come out with less expensive electric vehicles. Other manufacturers will come out with less expensive electric vehicles. In the long run, society benefits from going electric. Our infrastructure must adapt and grow by using less polluting ways to produce electricity to capitalize on individuals swapping electric vehicles for ICE vehicles. The fueling situation isn't good but it is improving every day. If like me, 90% of charging is done at home during the evening, it is manageable. In general, things are getting better. Let's encourage the switch.

      Here’s what people don’t get. The Asian manufacturers( besides the Koreans) don’t have very complex and software oriented cars. Software and programming is something that the Europeans are very good at. They have been doing it much longer than the Asians. Gas german cars are very complex with lots of integration of mechanical parts and electrical/programming. Toyota and Nissans cars are VERY stupidly simple compared to Europeans rivals. This means they are more reliable but it also means that they might actually fall behind because of their inexperience with complicated electrical systems. This is old news. Amazon and Ford have lost money in the investment and have pulled out a pull out. They might go out of business.

    3:50 emissions from cars is largest greenhouse gas emitted (27%).. At 25%, electricity generation is the second largest greenhouse gas emitted
    Rebuild hydrogen powerplants if you're pushing for real electrification that's actually going to help with climate change

    The price increases put these in the stratosphere with the Hummer and other $100K trucks. Eventually someone will build an equipped EV truck that can compete with ICE trucks, but it won't be Rivian.

      I don’t so much see these as going after the working blue collar American truck market, I see these as the first ev off-roaders (which don’t me wrong I still think is great, we need that too)
