    I started to watch this but I just turn up my stereo... problem solved. Keep your vids coming man. Very informative.

    I installed the Weathertech window deflectors and it stopped my wind noise (easy to do). Plus they look pretty cool.

    Your video is good but it's missing the actual cutting off the strip of foam(s) and applying to the weather strip/installing processes. I also have a 2014 Accord Sport but didn't notice high wind noise.

    My 2014 accord has the same problem, I went to a dealer, a technician tested drive the car but say's he didn't hear the Noise. I went to another dealer and he gave me a loaner car to try. To my surprise, that car had exactly the same problem. So he said it's the design. I have to live with it. But the noise is so annoying I cannot live with it. I followed your video to remove the gasket and put it back just for practice because I did not have the sealer tape at the time. Guess what? The noise is completely disappeared! Later I asked for a tape from the dealer just in case. But so far so good.

      Woaitudou Thanks for giving feedback on the 2014 model, I just got one in August and instantly noticed the noise. The dealer did their test drive and said it was a characteristic of that model... I'll definitely try this fix.

    Based on my examination of the entire door seal contacting the door frame and double sealing it this looks like the appropriate fix! AMAZING how HONDA which KNOWS about this issue does not STEP up to fix it....Just the WEBSITES dedicated to this issue would make me as a car manufacturer repair it before the LAWSUITS r a class action suit come AGAIN!

    I loosened the door jam hook, positioned it about a 1/16 inch closer to tighten the door against it's gasket. This has eliminated the windnoise. It does take a little stronger push on the door to make sure it is closed. An impact driver is usually necessary to looser and tighten the two bolts that hold the door jam hook. So if your EPT foam tape doesn't solve it completely, you might try my solution as well.

      Ed Kirstein Thank you for the tip. I'll look into it.

      +Ed Kirstein It would be awesome if you could post a video in a reply comment (to my comment) explaining and showing what you're talking about. Where/what is the door jam hook? what exactly do you mean positioning it closer to tighten the door against it's gasket? what gasket? where?
      I know the Accord isn't a luxury car, but the wind noise was the 1st thing I noticed when taking it on the highway, and my old car was a 2000 Accord coupe! That thing was much quieter than this car. I'm looking into sound deadener for the floor and doors too. so much road/wind noise. Other than that, I'm fairly happy with the car. gas pedal makes your foot numb on the highway after 30 minutes, but other than that it's great!

    2015 Accord Sport, just got the wind noise TSB done, yet the noise is still there. Also, the rear dash rattle is still there. Even after the dealer adding something to supposedly stop the rattle. Guess I can try and do this now.

    HONDA says the wind noise doesn't bother most customers, that's why they decide not to do anything in their 2014 and 2015 models but if you think is a problem, they will fix it for free....HONDA really can right size each customer and each accord is unique. lol

    Is this something i should let the dealer do or should i just do it myself to save time.
    The dealership i bought 13 accord from says they need to test drive report to honda before they can replace it

    • @DIYCarModz
      @DIYCarModz  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      bahlowwings That is correct, In order for the dealer to get paid (by Honda) for this TSB procedure. Your car has to fall within the VIN range for the TSB and be able to replicate the wind noise problem. If they decide the noise is normal, they will not do the TSB.

      +gladyboy I would take the car to another dealership and have them take a look at the suspension part. There is a technical service bulletin about the locking nut on the strut tower that needs to be tightened or replaced. If noise does not go away, they are told to replace the entire strut. If all fails, call honda america and escalate the problem with them.
      There is also a TSB for the brake retainer clip noise: Here is a short video on the problem: th-cam.com/video/u9bfq1nxJ2k/w-d-xo.html Here is a video on the service bulletin to fix the issue: th-cam.com/video/DX_0pPJ0DWw/w-d-xo.html However, I had the dealership change the retainer clips and the noise still came back. What fixed it completely was to change my brake pads. Here is a video on the product I used and how to change the brake pads: th-cam.com/video/j7t4y43zrlI/w-d-xo.html

    Food for thought... Honda sold ~370k Accords each year from 2013 to 2015. That's 1.11 million Accords, and if their cost-cutting is $2 per car (I have no idea what cheaper, thinner glass and bare minimum sound dampening and gasket savings actually are), they've already saved $2.2MM dollars.
    If they use $45/hr (high est) as their cost per hour to have tech look at these, it would require 50,000 Accord owners to come in for TSBs and for them to fix/address if each took an hour. Obviously, I've simplified and eliminated material costs here bc they're not replacing glass, but rather just adding a little bit of cheap insulation stripping or gasket materials.
    Full disclosure, I have 2016 Accord, I have insane amounts of wind noise on highway (my 02 Accord was 75% quieter), and I am also furious that I'm in a position where I need to figure a fix out or take it to Honda for a fix which may not actually reduce the noise much or at all.

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bjhoc11 If the 02 you had was 75% quieter you definitely have a issue that’s not normal. It could be weather stripping , something not sealing. It could also more likely be cheap tires , or worn tires. Because 2016 is significantly quieter then a 02 , I can 100% guarantee that.

      @DIYCarModz  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mortada Aljishi Yes.. the one whole roll will be multiple cars. However, just be mindful that this will not get rid of the wind noise completely... In matter of fact.. it might not work at all. This is just one of the steps that Honda Techs were told to perform when there is a wind noise problem. If you have a sedan, I would talk it back to the dealership since there is a technical service bulletin for this problem.

  • @trudediamond9693

    I've used every "fix" possible, from Honda's own "fix kit" to Honda's wind-deflectors around the front windows of my 2015 Accord. Nothing works. The problem is the cheap, too-thin glass of the side windows. The noise is from wind hitting the glass. Now I'm looking for laminated windows. It's really stupid of Honda to ruin the driving experience of such a fine vehicle with one cost-cutting "cheap trick." I'll end up spending more to fix it than the laminated windows would have added to the Accord's cost as a factory installation.

      bahlowwings I went to drop a friend at Honda so that he could pick up his car. I thought of checking with his Service Manager if there is a TSB/problem with 2015 Accords and to my surprise she said let me have a look. She found one and said there is one regarding Wind noise from front windows and a printed a 9 page booklet which mentioned how the Accords with the noise should be fixed. Also one of the procedure that they are doing is something that we see in the video above. SO YES ITS CONFIRMED that there is some service bulletin with Honda. I have that paper in my car. I have a 2014 Honda Accord V6 Touring Edition. I purchased it in late September 2014, I had my wind noise fixed at dealer free of charge today 10/21/14. The procedure in this video does not reflect what I understood to be the repair.
    My part numbers listed are 72470-T2G-A01, 72465-T2A-A01, 72235-T2F-A01, 72275-T2F-A01, & 72450-T2A-A01.... I took my car in and these parts where replaced ( molding & sash) I picked my car up two weeks ago and the problem was NOT fixed. I returned today10.21.14 after calling and speaking to my Service Manager. I told him that his technician must be deaf if he gave my car the thumbs up.... needless to say I returned today... and to my understanding ( what they told me anyway) was that there was a foam type material that is sticky on both sides ( which supposedly was in original parts order) that was not used when my car was in the first time. So this material was put around the entire area that surrounds the glass part of the door, not the area on car demonstrated on this video.... Service Manager said it sealed the " weather stripping ( I say this generically) he said it filled it in by about 1/8 of an inch thus filling in the dead space that was making my car sound like the door was ajar. Needless to say, mine is fixed and I could not be happier !

    • @DIYCarModz
      @DIYCarModz  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks you for the information!! Can you upload a video on where they put the foam felt material? The procedure I show on this video is from the Honda technical service bulletin (TSB) to address "fixing" the wind noise. The only step I skipped is removing the bottom window channel where the window rolls down to apply the sealant. Other than that the sealant was applied to the empty space within the glass weather stripping.
      Part 2: Accord Wind Noise Fix (EPT Sealer Installation)
      Did they actually put the sealant inside the window run channel where the glass slides and not just the part of the weatherstrip that goes around the glass as I showed in my video to fix the issue? We would like to see because although the this procedure did help, it did not eliminate the noise completely like yours.
      Pretty much everyone has a smartphone capable to record video, It would be a tremendous help for fellow Accord owners if you can upload a quick walk around to what they replaced and where they placed the sealant. Thank You

      Do you have the number of the service manager who fixed this problem? My local honda dealer was replaced all the seals and the weather strip for my 2014 accord exl V6. But the noise is still there.

    • @perfectlyimperfect1870
      @perfectlyimperfect1870 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Triet Nguyen Yes, when I took mine in the first time (Service Ticket W22153) they supposedly replaced all the parts and the problem still existed, still sounded like my door was ajar. I was HOT mad. I contacted the Service Manager at dealer. He told me after they fixed it that there was supposedly a "part" that was not installed at original appointment. I was under the impression, that this part is a foam like substance that is sticky on both sides and is put in between the other parts to create a seal. He explained that it sealed about an 1/8" gap that was allowing for the wind to enter car and sound as though the door was ajar or window slightly open....I hope this make since, I am a women trying to explain this to you....LOL Contact Gillman Honda Of Selma Texas @ 210-564-3409 and speak to Art Colvino, he is the Service Manager. Now, you still will have some slight "road noise" which is typical of Hondas, but you will not have a blasting sound on wind in your left ear that makes you want to run your car off into a ditch... LOL.... Make sure when the proper fix is performed that they do BOTH front doors. I was not provided a second service ticket when I took the car in the second time, so I do not have a particular part number for whatever that foam like stuff was they used to resolve the problem. Good Luck..... Let us all know if this helps and works out for you.

      Dave Thai I get what your saying. If it isn't broken don't fix it right? I only tackle projects where I'm confident I won't mess up something and many of the videos you see are the exact same procedure a Honda dealer technician will perform when you take your car in for service.
      I get requests to remove doors, trunk decks, disassemble roof liners, TSB for CTV transmission, adding RV6/intake/exhaust/coilovers etc etc and much more but I don't do all of them. If you notice, I only do videos on simple things ( well simple for me at least ).. adding/replacing OEM parts and accessories, swapping out leds, electrical wiring, maintenance procedure and few technical service bulletin honda has announced to fix few existing issues.

    • @dav1dizzle
      @dav1dizzle 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey since you take request, how would you clean the top part of your moonroof visor? Like I always tilt my moonroof (just for the look) and I worry about how to maintain the quality of that top of the retractable cover that I can't reach. Any suggestions??

    • @DIYCarModz
      @DIYCarModz  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Thai If I understand you correctly.. you tilt your moonroof open without retracting the cover. If that is the case, the best way to clean it would be to fully retract the moonroof with the cover intact and clean the top of the cover from the outside roof.
      Another way to do it would be to remove the moonroof frame. Then you will have access to remove the sunshade stopper and remove the sunshade all together.
