Cannot BELIEVE how much of a difference this made!!!! I had just called Car Toys and was about to go buy a whole new stereo system. I googled 2014 Accord EXL stereo just to see what others have done. Immediately came across this video. Blown away!
Worked like a charm. I had to wedge a small strip of squishy foam between the rear window and the window brake light since the added bass made it rattle like crazy, but now it sounds way better and there's no rattling. Thank you!
i had that problem before i did this + before i added my subs and never knew where the rattle was coming from (bass was 2 clicks under half just to let you know lol) - what type of foam did u use to fix the issue?
@@vexun11 I used some black foam that came as shipment padding for a 3D Printer. It's slightly squishy but firm enough to hold its shape well. I hope that helps.

My wife got her v6 Touring about a year ago.. she loves it but the stereo is really the worst I've ever experienced in a modern car. The subwoofer control did nothing, from min to max made no difference. I was convinced that the sub wasn't working, but when I unplugged it the sound got worse. She finally got fed up with crappy sound quality, and we decided to invest in some upgrades. I didn't know how to upgrade a stereo that is so integrated into the car, so I hit up Google and found this video. All I can say is WOW... stereo went from ridiculously bad to excellent. Sub control actually changes sound now. Deep bass and clear, crisp highs. Brand new stereo for free! Thank you SO much for this Car Modz!

@@rickyrichreacts9667 hey.. i may have a fix for that.. maybe its a little too late, but imma just share my thought. to make this happen you NEED to have both screens. top and bottom. if so, then there should be a bigger notch just below the radio. use that. in my car, ex- with navi, i have navigation. so i would hold, navi, back and menu, and when the first screen pops up, release navi and back and just hold menu. wait until the second screen pops up in your navigation screen. apparently models differ with what comes up after, but mine showed up in the 3rd page, and that is where you can turn it on. for your model, you dont use the volume button, use the bigger one in the bottom, the one that controls your navigation screen.
Did this to my 2013 Coupe, and I have to say, it does sound quite better. I have owned the last 3 generations of Accord. My first was a 2005 EX-L Coupe, which in my opinion had a decent sound system, then when I bought the 2008, for some reason I felt disappointed at the sound system, and had a lot of vibration coming from the sub-woofer. Then on the 2013, it was not really great either. After doing this, the sound system does remind me of the 2005, which even without a sub-woofer, it still had a decent bass output vs the 2008. I tried this mod a few months back. It does say OFF after you restart your car but it will actually stay ON. I tested this with my RTA and the sound stayed the same after restarting it. So if you switch it to ON, rest assured that it will stay ON regardless of what the screen says.
I just tried it on a 2015 EXL. It works. I turned the car off and back on and it still sounded better. I am not sure what this setting is, or why it makes it sound better.....but it does. I'd say a 25% improvement. Thanks Car Modz

@@Striker50_ No navigation in my car. It basically flattens the audio EQ curve by dropping the the bass and treble. It seems like you can turn the volume up a little louder to get a better balances sound that not too bassy or high-pitched. It's not mind shattering, and it might be subtle, but the trick works. Note that every time you turn the car off, you have to do it again.

Read some comments that it didn't work on the 2015 accord coupe ex-l. This is incorrect. You need to hold the menu button down for 3 seconds AFTER you access the first menu. Thanks! I've noticed a difference in sound.

This mod works with the factory speakers. Then, I changed the front components to Alpine and it sounded so Noisy and fatiguing with this mod. Loud, flat bass, very harsh and bright treble! Switching back to the default eq made the treble smooth and sound imaging was a lot better.
Just until recently this has worked. I had my car worked on and they must have updated the firmware because that option isn't available any longer. Great.

worked like you said, 13' Touring it's back + nav + menu pressed at same time for 3 sec then when ready, press menu 3 secs then voila!!--All I gotta do is put my mind to this shit--goddamn!
Took a couple tries because I have a 2014 with navi and the menus are slightly different. After holding the three buttons you have to hold the menu button, not the select button to get to the final menu, then you have to scroll down to the 3rd screen to find dsp options.
Thank you so much for this info! I think Honda used the wrong audio manufacturer in 2014. I hate the sound system. This made it better/tolerable but my 2006 system was MUCH better. I am going to trade the car in on a Hyundai or Toyota since there is no aftermarket replacement. The sound is THAT important to me!

YOOO WHAT THE F, IT WORKED 😂 there’s definitely a hugeee difference. Before i turned the flat on u couldn’t hear the bass till u got to 35-40, NOW U CAN HEAR THE BASS VERY GOOD ON 20 😂😂all the way up is very loud now.

Just did this on my 15 EX-L and the setting doesn't hold after restarting. But from what I hear it really does stay its just a bug? Yes? This apples to the 15 too? I also have an 14 EX-L V6 I'm going to do it on that one in the morning.
Hello. I was wondering...why would Honda even hide this feature if it improves the sound? Are there any repercussions when changing the flat option from off to on? I love the new sound. I noticed it as soon as I was done. I also noticed that it transfers back to the stock setting when you turn off your car and get back in. Is there a way to set it where I don't have to redo this every time I get into the car? Did I miss a step?
Wallace Castillo Sometimes it stays sometimes it doesn't. If you have the new updated software, I've heard that you have to do it every single time. You can do this change while the car is running. I usually change the setting while I'm stuck at a red light.

great tip..i know the ex-l model allows u to adjust audio bass, balance..etc on the lower screen by touching sound but can I adjust sound with the menu knob on the upper screen, mine doesn't work after pushing menu and after selecting audio, there are only two options after hitting audio and none of them relates to sound adjustment..?

I have a 2013 Honda Accord and I was excited when I first found this but there is a problem. It works and there is better sound but once you turn the car off and then later start is up again once you check the DSP Flat settings again it shows that it is back to OFF. Unless I am doing something wrong the settings don't hold. So you need to reset DSP Flat back to ON every time you start your vehicle. Any suggestions?
Don't start car just push start button to turn on power then follow instructions and it will save changes! If car is started it will not save the changes.
If this actually works I’m gonna trip!! Does that menu also let you deactivate the car alarm? Been having an issue with it going off randomly. Even worse when it’s 3am and it goes off. Have to keep the fob by my bed.
Any idea where dsp is on the 2016 accord? It's power, menu, display on the new model and select the bottom option and then hold menu to get to the developer menu but I can not find dsp or flat anywhere.

I have a 2015 Accord EX. The sound system is very flat and could use some added bass. For the EX, I can access the diagnostics screen by press 1+6+power button simultaneously. However, I am not able access the options that changes my flat setting. Any suggestions?

Joe Bruce Unfortunately, the sound for the lane departure and the collision warning are not adjustable. I looked into it awhile back because I wanted to increase the sound as well. I'm hoping that they will add something for the 2016 mid model cycle to adjust the volume level.

What kind of foam did you use? I wrapped a microfiber cloth and shoved it there, but it doesn’t look good.

It’ll stay on even after restarting engine, but you do need to turn the setting on again if battery disconnected (ie. changing battery)

what buttons did u push? I don't have a display button nor can I push the volume button in my 2014 navi.
I pressed nav, back, and menu. Then press and hold menu to reach the developer setting screen

Thank you so much for this info! I think Honda used the wrong audio manufacturer in 2014. I hate the sound system. This made it better/tolerable but my 2006 system was MUCH better. I am going to trade the car in on a Hyundai or Toyota since there is no aftermarket replacement. The sound is THAT important to me!

If you have the NAV model you hold down menu-nav-back and the DSP menu will be all the way at the bottom, like comment if helpful!

MrC3P tune it to whatever sounds best to your ear. Never jack them all the way up of course. Will hurt the amp and speakers.

The problem with this is that Flat goes off the moment the infotainment is turned off or the car is switched off.
How can one make this fix permanent?
YOOO WHAT THE F, IT WORKED 😂 there’s definitely a hugeee difference. Before i turned the flat on u couldn’t hear the bass till u got to 35-40, NOW U CAN HEAR THE BASS VERY GOOD ON 20 😂😂all the way up is very loud now.

This worked for me on my 2015 Accord with Nav. once I got to the diagnostic screen. Follow the instructions on the this link, then the video guides to a successful conclusion. Additionally, it held the settings after I turn the car off and back on. Thanks for the help!

Just did this on my 15 EX-L and the setting doesn't hold after restarting. But from what I hear it really does stay its just a bug? Yes? This apples to the 15 too? I also have an 14 EX-L V6 I'm going to do it on that one in the morning.
Hello. I was wondering...why would Honda even hide this feature if it improves the sound? Are there any repercussions when changing the flat option from off to on? I love the new sound. I noticed it as soon as I was done. I also noticed that it transfers back to the stock setting when you turn off your car and get back in. Is there a way to set it where I don't have to redo this every time I get into the car? Did I miss a step?
Wallace Castillo Sometimes it stays sometimes it doesn't. If you have the new updated software, I've heard that you have to do it every single time. You can do this change while the car is running. I usually change the setting while I'm stuck at a red light.

great tip..i know the ex-l model allows u to adjust audio bass, balance..etc on the lower screen by touching sound but can I adjust sound with the menu knob on the upper screen, mine doesn't work after pushing menu and after selecting audio, there are only two options after hitting audio and none of them relates to sound adjustment..?

I have a 2013 Honda Accord and I was excited when I first found this but there is a problem. It works and there is better sound but once you turn the car off and then later start is up again once you check the DSP Flat settings again it shows that it is back to OFF. Unless I am doing something wrong the settings don't hold. So you need to reset DSP Flat back to ON every time you start your vehicle. Any suggestions?
Why did you not postion your camera so it would shown BOTH screens which is critical to see when doing this Developers menu change.

Don't start car just push start button to turn on power then follow instructions and it will save changes! If car is started it will not save the changes.
If this actually works I’m gonna trip!! Does that menu also let you deactivate the car alarm? Been having an issue with it going off randomly. Even worse when it’s 3am and it goes off. Have to keep the fob by my bed.
Any idea where dsp is on the 2016 accord? It's power, menu, display on the new model and select the bottom option and then hold menu to get to the developer menu but I can not find dsp or flat anywhere.

I have a 2015 Accord EX. The sound system is very flat and could use some added bass. For the EX, I can access the diagnostics screen by press 1+6+power button simultaneously. However, I am not able access the options that changes my flat setting. Any suggestions?

It worked on my 2015 Coupe EX-L (Navi) Can't believe the difference. Thought there was something wrong with the radio! Thanks for the tip. Do you know if there is a way to increase the sound for the Lane Departure and Forward Collision warnings? I would like to have them louder.
Joe Bruce Unfortunately, the sound for the lane departure and the collision warning are not adjustable. I looked into it awhile back because I wanted to increase the sound as well. I'm hoping that they will add something for the 2016 mid model cycle to adjust the volume level.
