They missed an amazing opportunity with the seconds hand. Would of been a lot nicer if they turned the plane 90 degrees. Other than that its a really nice watch.
Its a little large for me. Let me put it this way, I may as well wear a dinner plate! The hands are too similar in length - the original watches had a much smaller hour hand. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Chris. p.s. I also own the Sugess I love it, got the green/blue variant. (the bracelet is a great fit on the case)
The “flag” at the top is not the French tricolour. It’s the tail colour of the RAF. The roundel is the RAF insignia. You are right though that it is ordinarily blue outer ring then white and red in the centre. There is an additional orange outer ring that’s normally applied to night fighters and bombers. The alpha numeric either side is the planes unique ID. This was the ID for Arthur “Taffy” Clowes. A fighter pilot ace in 1st Squadron (hence the number 1 being coloured blue on the inner circle) number 1 squadron flew hawker hurricane and was a front line squadron defending London and Kent county area during the Battle of Britain. The hurricane actually accounts for more luftwaffe downings than the more famous Hawker Spitfire. Taffy ( a slang term for a Welshman) had at least 12 German plains recorded as confirmed kills. The guy was a legend
My copy arrived yesterday. While I think the watch is nice overall, I am disappointed in how muted the orange color is on the arabics. My copy is nowhere near as bright as the models they advertise. The orange roundel is a good deal brighter than the numbers, so maybe it’s a production problem that they’ll eventually fix. Love the channel, Chris!
Chris I have the Spitfire version with green dial which is smaller. AVI-8 do good models with reference to WW2 planes. A point of difference but a great wear & talking point.😎👍🏼
This one is right at the edge of what a 7.5 inch wrist can pull off! I think the hour hand should have been shorter and not go past the hour circle on the dial.
Exactly this. I have the Hawker Hurricane Hampshire model and the hour hand has a perfect fit for the inner ring, but the crown isn't this style and there is no hand wind for the movement which are my only complaints.
Great looking dial. The lume on the white part of the French flag at the 12 spot was a nice touch! I wonder if they built this watch during the NH35 shortage…thus the NH15. Might have been better off ditching the date, as you prefer, and powering with NH38…
@@5taunch Sorry! It passed me over, I was just watch geeking out, and heard Chris say that. I believe these colors/emblem were on the tail of the aircraft, right?
Why would this watch have a French flag on it? Presumably it's supposed to be the RAF fin flash - upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b8/Spitfire_VB_222_Sqn_RAF_in_flight_1942.jpg

Yes that Sugess is awesome 🔥🔥

Thank you for the Review
That dial has tons of detail for a watch at this price point .

I like the Flyboy Engineer line. I've had a couple variants.
Love everything about the watch! Except for the size, my wrist is too small for it! Lol
Big fan of the color, if only my wrist could accommodate that size.
I think I'll wait for the German variant of this watch 😝
Cue Stan Boardman's (the world's unfunniest comedian) Fokker joke. Only he could could cock that one up.
A pilot watch with a non-hacking movement feels like a pretty big fail…
I ordered 2 watches

If it was a bit smaller, I would have bought it today.

French flag????? No sir. This is a homage to The RAF in the Second World War

I believe it's made by the same company that make Spinnaker .
Are you suggesting you wear this watch when you're ready high ... Flying 🥺
French flag 😂
Did you even research this piece
The dial is far too noisy for my taste. Also wears quite big on the magic 7.5's
Hilarious that they dedicate a German Flieger style watch to an RAF pilot.
I love the Alpine KM-710 personally
With an A type 12 o'clock indicator on a B type dial. Which I actually like even if it's odd. Lol
