    I have been told, after going to Spain for 50 years, that sangría is for tourists. Locals go for tinto de verano, which is a mix of red wine and Fanta lemon soda. It is delicious! Fanta Limón is my favorite and you can't find it in the USA.

      Para hacer tinto de verano no se suele utilizar fanta, más bien otro refresco que se llama La Casera, y no sólo es de naranja, también de limón o blanca que es similar a seven up.
      La sangría no es solo para turistas, es una bebida muy española, pero es verdad que antes se bebía más que ahora.

    My family and I have spent the almost six months in Spain this year and have a ton of experience at the supermarket. Ash is right, you've got to know where to get what you want and when. First off, the big supermarkets are closed on Sundays. Had to get used to thinking ahead on that one. Second, if you're staying a while invest in one of the grocery carts you put your stuff in to bring home. You can find them in the stores they call alimentación bazar. We like to hit our favorite stores for the mark downs. Mercadona is good for this one and Aldi as well. Think produce and dairy. Peanut butter is hard to find and when you do it's more in the natural form with oil floating on it. There is a Costco in Sevilla so we hit them up. They still make carrot cake here!

    • @WingingItWithAsh
      @WingingItWithAsh  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow! Yes...keep the helpful tips coming. Sunday are for sure an adjustment as most places are closed although in the touristic center its easier to find open places on a Sunday but even my gym is closed on the weekend. So strange. I do like that people get Sundays off to be with family. Its an adjustment but worth it for family time.
      Yes those carts are so handy. Especially when doing a big shop! :)

      @@WingingItWithAsh What they have been doing a lot of, is reducing portion/package size, keeping actual price more or less the same. Was 60grams, now just 50grams, that sort of thing. Whats going to kill off a lot of people here is the energy cost increase. By winter, the typical household will be paying €120 a week for electricity. People, mostly old people, gonna freeze to death. Im fine. (Not that I am old). I used to live on a boat, so am acclimatised to cold weather. I heard Spain is banning public buildings from having AC running, to cut down on energy consumption. Fun times…..

    When I lived in Lanzarote I used to eat out on the Menu of the day where you can get a 3 course meal and coffee for like 10 euros althoughmy best menu of the day was in a little backstreet cafe in palma (Mallorca) when I followed the local government workers. I got a small plate of spaghetti bolognese to start, then fresh fish and salad followed by creme caramel. The price also included a small bottle of water , a full bottle of red wine and a coffee. All for 8 euros!
    Love the sea food in Spain. Prawns, sardines and octopus.

    its expensive ..?

  • @tonys1636
    @tonys1636 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    II wish our wine prices were that cheap, the cheapest is €7 or €8 when on offer, often like paint stripper, it's our very high Alcohol Duty that makes it expensive. €20 or €30 for a decent bottle. Our fruit and veg, some is cheaper and it often comes from Spain outside of June and July for berries. A lot used to come from the Netherlands and Belgium grown under glass but since Brexit that supply has dried up as the trucks transiting the UK are now delayed by the Customs paperwork and inspections. It has got ridiculous as produce from the EU often can't be imported from or through the UK even if it never leaves the truck. We have direct ferries to France and Spain thankfully. Our meat, beef and lamb, pork products and dairy are cheaper by a 50c or so per kg/Lt. Irish meat and dairy is often sold Europe wide. Brexit hit us here in Ireland quite hard, the EU seem to have forgotten us, as the UK was often allied with us against the EU's often ridiculous regulations, unlike the UK did we often don't have a veto on our own, Ireland is not the only country that is feeling the loss of the UK from the EU. Everything is getting more expensive often daily now thanks to global prices.

    • @WingingItWithAsh
      @WingingItWithAsh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Such an interesting perspective. Its not something I thought of when I think of the effect of leaving the EU but makes total sense.
      I am also very surprised at how high the price of alcohol is in the UK. sheesh

      @tonys1636 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WingingItWithAsh The UK was one of the few countries that had the muscle to say non or nien to the French and Germans. The French said it to them for years since the UK failed to sign the Treaty of Rome by the set deadline in the early 50's due to grounded flights because of bad weather, so were never part of the initial EEC. Finally the French said oui in 72. Churchill might have shook them all up a bit in the 50's just as Maggie (Thatcher) did later. We have a slightly higher rate of alcohol duty here in Ireland than the UK also higher VAT rates (23% and 13.5% plus a 9% on some things now like gas and electric, down from 13.5%) VAT is applied after the alcohol and fuel duties on petrol and diesel are applied so a tax on a tax. With everything going up, the revenue from VAT is as well, not applied on food but some luxury foods (biscuits and cakes etc) and meals in a take away or restaurant are Taxed.

    John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
