This is a Japanese anime that has spread all over the world, but it is almost impossible in real Japan. Even in Japan, it is said that it is strange to connect anime and reality, but the content of this anime is strange. There are cases where Japanese anime is used to include expressions that mislead Japan in order to justify the claims of a specific region.
The POV. It's so raw. 😭 The scream after the continuous music. The thud. It's horrifying. Unforgettable. I already slept (it's the next day) but I still feel emotional.
they really played well with "show don't tell" concept, and I personally did not expect this POV to happen. Watching it in the beginning gave me chills which proves that it worked so well.
God I love the direction they took here. In the manga it’s very explicitly shown she’s dancing on a rooftop ledge and kills herself in the end. The anime’s imagery is much less explicit, but combined with the soundtrack it hits so much harder. I have no doubt this show will become a cemented classic.
I agree with you there, but another thing why they animate it that way because from what i heard is japan’s topic of suicide is strong so they wanted that scene to be somewhat censored
A lot of comments have been saying this but for the few that might still not be aware, Acrobat Silky is dancing on top of a roof. The city lights below her and the reflection of the stars on the rain water. Her last dance since she has now lost her only reason to live.
Es muy obvio, te lo muestran completamente donde está, además de que se da a entender que se suicidó al precipitarse desde las alturas al deformarse las luces de fondo
I really think they could have shown a 3rd person view of the jump that the panel hit hard for me, but the show added so many extra scenes of the daughter and her made it movie quality to awesome show
I love how her backstory is so grounded in humanity. She worked countless hours just to make her daughter feel happy, only for it all to be stripped away from her. Such a perfectly told and especially tragic story.
From what i read on the wiki, Aira hugging her and calling her Mommy at the end gave her the peace she needed to find Nirvana. I havent read the manga yet so it might be explained better there @hellatze
This was one of the most terribly beautiful things I've ever witnessed. Her final dance was just heartbreaking. The entire time she was thinking about her daughter. They took her entire world from her. I kept it together until her daughter said "Mommy, thank you for all you do." Couldn't help but cry.
I've got a 4 yr old. My husband had to hold my sobbing body after this episode. Especially that part. He was also emotional but he knew I'm already weak to kid stuff. I was thinking her daughter was gonna fall through a window or something while dancing...I hate to know that's a better end than what she got from those debt collectors. I do wish we got them holding hands like we did in the manga after Aira wishes they find kindness in the next.
I like how the story is potrays Silky's passion for ballet in her life. We see that was something she n her daughter were extremely passionate about n also it gives a glimpse to her life before being a mother. However, ballet never left her. It stayed with her throughout her life as a form of love n connection for both mother n duaghter. It was with them from the beginner up till the end
She stands on her toes, like a trained ballerina. Of course she has no toe shoes. Those are expensive. But she remembers the posture and how the steps were supposed to go. In her moment of despair her art returned to her and her soul flew. I’m still crying.
my first thoughts too, like acro silky must've gone through ballet training before she raised her child since that stance with the toes, not just anybody can do it

this scene is horrifying because of the effort you feel, knowing how much love and care the mother wanted to give to her child, how much she tried to give her daughter a peaceful life, and how everything was ruined because of society. How she always tried to protect her only to be in vain, feeling failure because of luck is one of the most horrible things that can happen to you, and sometimes this happens, in real life, to real people, its heartbreaking
Its crazy how Dandadan manages to do such a good and shokingly sad backstory in so little time. Others need often longer without even reaching that level. That pov scene alone hits different.
The word "masterpiece" gets thrown around way too much, but this is one of the few times it is justified. I am so glad that people are talking about it.
Her back story, how the whole scene played out. Put me back to indie video games such as Ib, or to the moon. Horror video games that have tragic, and melancholy characters. The beauty, struggle, pain, hurt, lost, and grief you can just feel it. What a captivating imagery. To all single mothers, you are amazing and strong. You are the world to your children, please take care, and I hope you have help, and resources that you and your child need. God bless you sweethearts ❤
I can totally see that. I love the game Ib and it definitely gives the same feeling. I’ve watched this clip so many times already like I’m drawn to it, it’s so beautiful and soul crushingly tragic
For anyone wondering what happenes to the daughter. It's heavily implied that she dies. In the manga there is a panel that has silky and her holding hands as they pass on. While we don't know when and how she died we can guess it was either by sex/human trafficking, she was killed by those men, or sold for parts on the black market (organs).
I know it’s a small chance, but I hope she is still alive and maybe the gang can find her one day. But if she really did died, I pray for her to rest in peace and the same for millions of other girls and women that get human trafficked in our world. 😢💔🕊️
@@emanuelrodriguez9044given the time frame. If she did live she would have died of old age given it was a long time ago (silky's hair growing and her ghost form decaying over time) Though if she had children they might be able to meet the gang. But i like the idea.
@ I thought the mom died and turned into a ghost around the same time as Ira’s mother’s death. Ira saw her as a little girl when she still had a human form. Wouldn’t her daughter be around their age?
@@emanuelrodriguez9044 it could be. We don't really know the time since I guess ghost time is different. She looks like she's been there for a long time given her appearance, just standing there, waiting until ira saw her.
@@emanuelrodriguez9044 She died and passed on (children are innocent/no regrets yet), that is why Silky couldn't find her no matter where she looked. Time passed (the anime doesn't show this well enough, manga says years) and she forgot what she was looking for. Aira calling her mommy jump started her memory. In the manga after Aira hugs her and Silky passes on, mom and daughter are holding hands together "in a kinder world". As much as I too wish the gang could of found her or something, nothing good would of come to her life other than pain (sex work/slavery) so with the organ market she at least died quick hopefully and as little pain as possible.
It really hit you just how horribly devastated she is. Everything she did, she did for her daughter. Her daughter was the only reason for her to keep going. When she lost her, she literally lost everything. I had already read this in the manga and i knew this was coming. But the way in which they depicted the absolute tragedy of her story is beautiful and it still left me shocked.
Another heartbreaking conclusion is that the daughter also did not live very long after the abduction. In the last scene she is still shown as a child despite the fact that she might have been a similar age to Aira. We can only guess for what purpose they kidnapped her. A pretty damn dark plot.
In the manga, you see the mother and daughter both holding hands and walking into the lighty after Silky dies (can't remember if they show this in the anime) so it's implied the daughter did not live.
- This was so brilliantly done. I’ve cried each time I’ve watched it. The animation is absolutely beautiful. This show is so much more than a lot of people think. Thank you Yukinobu Tatsu for creating this masterpiece.
Now that I've watched it again. Yes, it's showing images of something/someone falling from heights (at high speed) and then the flashing images are similar to what people see when they experience near-death. In this case she actually fell off a rooftop and died. Then her daughter died shortly after. Too tragic.
@anukthotawatta982 the city light is under the horizon and when the camera pan for her head the light start spinning indicating her head going upside down. A nice subtle shoot where the manga only show one panel of this scene.
Her daughter thanking her made me wail she's sounds so thankful for all of her mother's love and sacrifice just to make her happy. This scene will hunt me just like Binchou-tan's backstory.
This episode is why I sometimes love anime more than movies, because of the artistic freedom you get when directing and animating something to your heart's content. The creators definitely love their job and it shows. Dan da Dan is absolute cinema to its fullest!
Thanks to Saru studio for transcribing this scene perfectly, I was so excited. Already in the manga, this scene does not leave one indifferent, but there, with the music and the artistic staging, the transcription of the emotions is power 1000. A poignant moment of which only the tears that flow from our eyes can tell you say thank you
The rotoscoping details went INSANE. This is some of the best use of that technique I've ever seen. (Btw rotoscoping is tracing over real life film frame by frame)
Oh, do you think they uses the same technique for the rooftop dance? Because I saw a reactor who is a ballerina and she was praising the attention to detail in the footwork
@@phistoltv5196 I literally made a comment on their video about this very thing. That level of detail is thanks to the rotoscoping technique, but obv the studio ads and adjusts it to perfection. Like seriously it cannot nor will not be expressed enough how good the animation in this episode was. Edit: flexiejayanime, they should def start educating people on ballerina stuff because that shit became so interesting from this episode.
@@CaptainBuggyTheClown lol that's the exact channel I am talking about, I went to look for your comment, it's cool you did combat sport. Wow the animators really showed a lot of love and passion to the episode. Yeah she definitely should. Her context that she is a ballerina just elevated her reaction. It was cool to learn new things
this is the first time an episode that the internet hyped up this much has not disappointed me. demon slayer, frieren, they didn't deliver that phenomenally on their fan favourite episodes. this one, even though I had read the manga already, really struck. best episode of the year, easily
One of the most beautiful and absolutely tragic episodes I've ever seen so far for an anime honestly. Truly unexpected. This episode was so perfectly well made. Animators cooked with this one. The animation was at Studio Ghibli tier and the amazing piano theme really fit the tone. I've seen a lot of Anime's but I don't think I've ever seen such a deep and personal tragic backstory for an enemy thats so terrible but so breathtakingly gorgeous at the same time. This shows that DanDaDan is not only gonna be filled with amazing action packed scenes and hilarious moments but it's also gonna be very emotional and heartbreaking. Cannot wait for the future episodes. Episode 7 was absolute cinema and an absolute masterpiece of the series. They're really doing Yukinobu's work justice.
I read the manga, so I already knew the backstory. Felt a little sad reading it. The anime hit far harder than I ever expected. Teared up when I watched it. Teared up again and again when I looked at the reactions from other people. This show is brilliant.
At first i thought she was just a challenge they fight and get over but she is actually important to the plot somehow having characters that are actually important to the story at appearance is good
Well shit, this took a dark turn, and what makes it even worse is realizing that cases like this have actually happened or is happening irl. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that this scene will go down as one of the most disturbing in anime/manga history, right up there with the Dog-Child chimera in FMA.
they don’t. probably that momentum, to make we all realize, how fucked up the reality of our world, that even suffered a mother and her child. We gotta be reminded and do something to prevent that happening!
Thank you, Tatsu-sensei, Science Saru and the seiyuus for giving us this masterpiece!👏❤️ The mother and daughter did not deserve such a cruel and horrifying fate. All they wanted was to live in peace. What's even worse was that no one seemed to care about the commotion, hearing a child cry or seeing a bleeding, beat-up woman. Nobody called the police or an ambulance.😢😔❤️ Also, the use of first person POV really adds to the sense of panic, horror and despair the mother must've felt😔. However, I think that the uncertainty is the most horrifying part about this. It is never directly shown what happened to the daughter. Instead, it is left up to the viewer's interpretation and imagination. Sometimes, the most terrifying things are the ones that you don't see, but can only imagine. It is the same technicue that was used in Alien (1979) during Lambert's death.
I’ve seen tragic anime characters in my life time but this …. My gawd -- it’s so beautifully done. The way silky danced before her timely end is so mesmerizing. Man, I watched this episode like twice and it still hits harder than anything I ever seen. And her daughter when she said “thank you for everything,” it’s so raw. I could’ve think of a way how raw this actually is. 👏👏👏👏👏😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
God the anime is doing such an incredible job at adapting as well an enhancing the manga, I always knew this arc was gonna hit harder in anime but this just blew me away, the added scenes, the animation, the music, the voice acting, the manga was already my favourite of all time, and its seeming like this might become my favourite anime
For those who don’t know what happened to mother; She woke u in a love hotel with alarm ringing to say it’s time up. She was working as a cleaner, store cashier, she was doing two jobs. In Japan, if you don’t have a proper income, it’s very easy to fall in debt. And to get loan for applicants with no proper income is through from Loan sharks. Loan sharks mostly have connections with Yakuza or sometimes run by Yakuza itself. She takes out some money and bought a dress from the yellow envelope, which is supposed to be given to loan shark. Loan sharks gives you loan with very heavy interest so she cannot return the loan as promised. Then the loan sharks came to her to take whatever is valuable. Note that basic furnitures are not much valuable in Japan. They took the girl and probably will sell her off to human traffickers(very rare cases in Japan) or raise her and make her work as a prostitute her whole life. This is why the mother was desperate, she didn’t want her daughter to go through what she had. In the manga, the mother and daughter was reunited in the kinder world. Which means the daughter must have died from abuse before adulthood.
This Dan Dan series is a complete animation madness that the characters are sometimes ridiculous in their way of being silly but I love it at the same time
Oh my god, this was gut-wrenching. Well done to the writers and animators for selling this whole sequence cause the music and cinematography were on point. Things that were implied, but never outright said as well made the whole scene. Brilliant, and depressing as fuck work
Her backstory feels real, because it happens in real life, a single mom doing her best for her child. A mother’s love is eternal…

No matter how many times I've watched this, it still gives me tears.
何度見ても「おかあさんいつもありがとう」で涙腺爆発
ワイもここで涙腺決壊して限界や
子供の声がやばい
Another heartbreaking conclusion is that the daughter also did not live very long after the abduction. In the last scene she is still shown as a child despite the fact that she might have been a similar age to Aira. We can only guess for what purpose they kidnapped her. A pretty damn dark plot.
Most likely organ harvest or human trafficking. Pretty grim to think about the reality
Dark plot
In the manga, you see the mother and daughter both holding hands and walking into the lighty after Silky dies (can't remember if they show this in the anime) so it's implied the daughter did not live.

DanDaDan is just so PEAK in absolutely every way!
That was a sad and dark past for her mom. Didn't see that one coming. This show has so many layers of emotions. Best new anime of 2024
Dandadan is a rollercoaster of emotions. First we laugh at Okarun for loosing his balls and then we cry about Acrobat Silky´s background
1:05 at this very moment Dan Da Dan surpassed its peers
I couldn’t agree more
Literally danced right past them
- This was so brilliantly done. I’ve cried each time I’ve watched it. The animation is absolutely beautiful. This show is so much more than a lot of people think. Thank you Yukinobu Tatsu for creating this masterpiece.
1:21 Blink and you miss the massive detail of what happened right at that moment.
holy shit.
i thought she died of bloodloss or something.
this is worse
Now that I've watched it again. Yes, it's showing images of something/someone falling from heights (at high speed) and then the flashing images are similar to what people see when they experience near-death. In this case she actually fell off a rooftop and died. Then her daughter died shortly after. Too tragic.
@anukthotawatta982 the city light is under the horizon and when the camera pan for her head the light start spinning indicating her head going upside down.
A nice subtle shoot where the manga only show one panel of this scene.
[screaming and crying in the corner]
@@lm-pw9ul How did her daughter die?

Her daughter thanking her made me wail she's sounds so thankful for all of her mother's love and sacrifice just to make her happy. This scene will hunt me just like Binchou-tan's backstory.
1:22 At this frame, you can see the moment she jumps off the edge of the building. Wow...
音楽でさらに泣いちゃう
This episode is why I sometimes love anime more than movies, because of the artistic freedom you get when directing and animating something to your heart's content.
The creators definitely love their job and it shows.
Dan da Dan is absolute cinema to its fullest!
It transcends the medium to become a work of aching, terrible beauty. A true masterpiece.
Dude this scene was perfection. Genuinely made me cry, TWICE.
Thanks to Saru studio for transcribing this scene perfectly, I was so excited. Already in the manga, this scene does not leave one indifferent, but there, with the music and the artistic staging, the transcription of the emotions is power 1000. A poignant moment of which only the tears that flow from our eyes can tell you say thank you
The story is perfectly sad, the music is more than perfect, the dance is so beautiful everything about this chapter is so heartbreaking and good
The rotoscoping details went INSANE.

Acro Silky's backstory is quite literally just the power of a mother's love and how to break the viewers
the jumping from roof edge frame is so fast. very easy to miss. great animation and subtlety from the producer
This anime is already a certified classic.

It was sadder than I thought.
Tragic yet beautiful.
When a show about a ghost grandma stealing the nuts off a high school boy hits you with a gut punch of an episode.
7話冒頭のシーンなんだろうって思ってたけど途中でああ、そういう事だったのか…ってなってて見るの辛かったし娘との記憶がフラッシュバックしたりして7話はほんとに泣きそうになった
I read the manga, so I already knew the backstory. Felt a little sad reading it.
The anime hit far harder than I ever expected. Teared up when I watched it. Teared up again and again when I looked at the reactions from other people.
This show is brilliant.
Those poor souls never wanted to become monsters.
It was the cruelty of others that turned them into monsters.
A cruelty that was never punished.
You know what is messed up, they aired this episode on 14th November on Children's Day....😢
Stop being so extra

they don’t. probably that momentum, to make we all realize, how fucked up the reality of our world, that even suffered a mother and her child.
We gotta be reminded and do something to prevent that happening!
なんでこんなに素晴らしいの…。ありがとう
There's more like this to come in Dandadan that's crazy
As a manga reader: yes.
Yeah, not ready for Vamola's backstory
Thank you, Tatsu-sensei, Science Saru and the seiyuus for giving us this masterpiece!👏❤️
The mother and daughter did not deserve such a cruel and horrifying fate. All they wanted was to live in peace. What's even worse was that no one seemed to care about the commotion, hearing a child cry or seeing a bleeding, beat-up woman. Nobody called the police or an ambulance.😢😔❤️
Also, the use of first person POV really adds to the sense of panic, horror and despair the mother must've felt😔.

Holy shit that was as beautiful as it was absolutely heartbreaking.
Didn’t see this coming, but glad I got to see it. Stunning piece of animation truly.

This is so bittersweet and painful before she turn into a Yokai that hits so hard
For those who don’t know what happened to mother;
She woke u in a love hotel with alarm ringing to say it’s time up.
1:22 in this second you can actually see the edge of the building 😭😭😭
I didn't even notice it
This Dan Dan series is a complete animation madness that the characters are sometimes ridiculous in their way of being silly but I love it at the same time
