Everyone talks about Isha but no one talks about warwick, you could tell Vander was still in there. He looked sad, and when Jinx screamed Isha's name he looked at Isha, no beast would look directly at the person named Isha while in the middle of a battlefield while there are other bloodied and injured soldiers. Like one of Warwick's voice lines in game "Trying to save you..." he was probably trying to save her while also fighting the control of his bloodlust
unfortunately, it's most likely that he reacted to Jinx's scream (maybe it was too desperate and loud) orrrr the remains of Vander's consciousness made Warwick turn that way, and then he kinda noticed (or smelled?) little fella that slipped right under him
In fiction we usually see parental figures sacrifice themselves for their surrogate children, so to have this show turn that trope on its head was a real punch to the gur

@@zh9335 Isha is an Sanskrit word, and so the OC meant it to be of Hindu origins. It also means "goddess". And secondly, Islam is not a language. But even if we don't take your words literally, Isha refers to the fifth prayer of a muslim. Doesn't sound much of a name, does it? And from when did Islam started acknowledging anything vaguely related to "gods" or "goddesses"?
@@zh9335 The comment above me explains it pretty well. In arabic isha can mean night or life by my understanding. But sanskrit is the older language which the writers were going for, for the implication. Sanskrit, persian and arabic do use some similar words. It’s the tears that start as Isha is running that makes my heart start to race. Then the finger gun makes the tears roll. And her closing her eyes as she accepts it all. Ugh. This show. It all hurts but I keep revisiting it
The one moment that absolutely wrecked me. I applaud the creators and writers of the show, you got a grown ass man bawling his eyes out to a show based on a toxic game.
Imagine ur a little girl around the ages 8-11 and you run to a monster sacrificing yourself for your best friend and never seeing them again. I feel so bad for both Jinx and Isha, they were such a great duo and the fact Isha has the courage to make that decision for Jinx is amazing and heartbreaking! Great job to the actors and producers that made this series
what's makes this part even sadder is that in a way we can still see a bit of Vander in there after Jinx screams "No" at 1:47 he glances a bit at Isha and when Isha was about to shoot at 2:02 he had a very sad expression. Vander is still in there and was trying to fight it but he couldn't do anything because he was not in full control of his current body anymore 😢
Does ANYONE else notice Isha's pupils slightly enlarging and her eyes becoming only glossy at 1:47-1:51 when looking at Jinx??? Both the expression of bravery and love staring right back at Jinx. Save me the anguish! I was swallowed by it once Isha began running.
One thing I don't see a lot of people mentioning, and something I really love about this scene because it's exactly the little detail of emphasis that Arcane design & art team do to make things amazing, is that one, Vander's final motion towards 2:02 Isha is, yes, a beast about to claw at her, but it has been done in a manner to render him visually despairing, his face is elongated in a scream, but the aggressive shapes and features of directed anger aren't there, it communicates despair at what is happening more than this. And doubly so, all of the glowing 'lava' looking streams coming out of his body, in this moment, in this framing, they've made it so the streams are coming from his eyes and looking like tears. An echo of the small time of bonding Isha & Vander got to have beforehand, and knowing that Isha is connected to Powder.
I like a good breakdown but I feel like stuff like this just reads way too much into the process. The lava tears yes but idk about the rest. Seems pretentious imo
@@maxm2656 That's the consequence of having actual art & design - visual communication and means thereof specifically, not valued in education. They shape the way you see and craft the world around you. All of this is extremely basic ideas of shape language and communicating via form and context. I say all of this because this is all things that myself and my peers actively do when creating. There's intent behind every decision - because that's what art and design is, active decision making - ESPECIALLY when we're talking about something like Arcane. It's cool to just turn off and go 'heh pretty pictures these guys are good' but it's just a lowest denominator experience. Which is fine, what goes behind something like Arcane is lost on majority, even in your case here, the mere idea of fathoming that a team designs a scene in a specific way and gesture is lost.
@@ashryver3605 yeah still pretentious. You’re definitely the kind of person who thinks they piss excellence. I even agreed, Warwick has glowing red tears flow down to make it appear like Vander’s humanity is still there and he’s crying. But the stuff about anger not being there? The whole thing is that only a portion of Vander’s humanity is left, with Warwick having taken over and being a beast. The angry colors pretty clearly denote that. Saying that the shapes of anger have disappeared make no sense lol. Isha’s boutta get merc’d. You even said “I don’t see people talking about this” bc you wanted to be a special snowflake. Congrats you’re an annoying one lol
I had to take a film class as an elective in college and you would’ve fit right in. They all loved to talk about how a specific shot and framing showed a power difference. To me, all that should be evident from the story itself. I also agreed with you and just said you were stretching things. That shot of Warwick about to annihilate Isha is a reminder that he was once Vander but has been completely transformed. Your talk about the shapes and being elongated into a scream are stretches. The “tears” contrast the animalistic rage. And they’re more twisted because the colors around them give that angry war zone setting. You clearly like to sound smart “they’ve made it so the streams are coming from his eyes and looking like tears”. You don’t need the wordy, flowery language to say he has “tears”. “The mere idea of fathoming…” is just confirmation you want to sound smart. There’s a difference between being eloquent and being wordy and you’re definitely the latter. Even Microsoft Word could catch that and offer you a suggestion to cut down. But we all have the freedom of speech even if people use to act like they’re the next Tarantino or Nolan. You guys regurgitate what you hear on forums to sound smart for sub 100 likes on a TH-cam video. Congrats lol
I just want to say that this song is so amazing. Along with the beautiful pastel artwork of Jinx and Isha's adorable moments together, it somehow makes one of the saddest scenes in the show simultaneously incredibly pure and heartfelt and triumphant. Yes we lose Isha but this is also Isha's victory, she successfully protects her beloved big sister by sacrificing herself🥺
First time I watched this, the scenes of her dancing with jinx broke me. She was healing jinx by being in her life. How precious she was. How selfless. The music stabs me in the heart as well. Much as it sucks, this was perfect.
Nothing has ever made me cry on first watch and rewatch. Honestly for me one of the best moments in the show and one of my favourite moments in fiction full stop.

I wonder how many people, as soon as this scene started, just said "Oh my god no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no" the whole time.
I started balling at the flashback of jinx dancing with Isha, it’s just such an emotional scene especially for jinx’s character and personality, and really shows how happy Isha made her
I think its beautiful how in the 1:09 running scene, Jinx uses pink while Isha uses blue. Just like how big sis Vi was pink and little Powder was blue.
My favorite part of Act 2. I love when pop culture deaths mean something and it isn't just killing characters off for the sake of killing characters off.
Underrated moment: Vi protects Jinx/Powder @ 1:52 For three years since s1 I never would have thought I'd see their sisterly bond repaired to that point

1:00 This is where I started crying Isha is a little badass in this scene no doubt, but that scene just reminded me that she really IS just a kid. I love the way that they wrote this show in English but gave a mandarin song to the 1 mute character knowing that 70% of the viewing of the show wouldn’t understand the lyrics but still understand the emotion behind the song. That’s art.
Looking back, I now realize that Isha was the only one to quickly realize that Warwick was on a rampage that could not be stopped like the previous incidents. He posed a deadly threat to everyone around him. As a result, she willing chose to sacrifice her own life to stop him. She was essentially acting as a last resort to save the others from certain death.
Jinx wouldn't say that, because it would be too selfish. Protecting her family, and finally dying are the only two things she has truly wanted. Seeing Isha die took everything from Jinx, even the cold comfort of her own suicidal ideation.
it shows small detail of when they are entering and theyre forced to hand over their wepons. isha looks over at vi's gloves . it seems that she took the hextech crystals from her gloves and used them to overload jinxs wepon in the end . she uses 3 crystals , the same amount powder uses when she uses hextech for the first time.
The tears she sheds while running shows she didn’t want to die but knew she needed to make the sacrifice for the person she loved most. Which brought her to a smile while running as well because she knew she would save Jinx…. Pure Love
When I saw the flashbacks of their happy moments, I knew "Oh shit" she's gonna die isn't she. That's why they're showing us her happiest moment in her young, brief life." Then we saw her put more gemstones in which would obviously be too much power. And I knew it was over. This was Isha's last moment. And we didn't even know much about her, why was she chased, where were her parents, what her life was before meeting Jinx. All we know is that she was happy being Jinx's little sister. And that she loved her big sis so much she would sacrifice herself for her.
the fact that Isha died in a similar way as to when she accidentaly killed milo and clegor, with a weapon of hex crystals malfunctioning, is gonna be so traumatic for her. Poor girl doesn't deserve this
1:51 this moment has the same exact energy as when jinx ignites the flare. just the way it lines up perfectly with the music and the orchestra gets the loudest ughhhhhhh flawless.
You know, this is emotional and all and it is a genuinely beautiful scene… but to be completely honest she did not need to do that. Vander would have taken out a bunch of Noxians before going down himself; all the girls needed to do was leave and Isha would have been fine. I do see the reasoning that she probably did what she did so she could basically put Vander out of his misery, but it honestly didn’t work. Vander’s body would go on to be used by Singed to restore Viktor and bring him to his Glorious Evolution. Had Vander sustained more damage, he may not have been able to be used one last time. I feel like if Isha just ran, things would have been at least moderately okay.
True but why do people get so hung up on what characters “need” to do and every choice they make has to be the right one when it comes to movies and shows. People do a lot of unnecessary things in real life and make terrible choices. Plus this is just the same as young jinx with the monkey bomb, kids are dumb and make stupid decision.
@@Fantisma7 I get where you’re coming from but I don’t think this is the same as powder with the monkey bomb at all. You can see an interesting parallel in season 1 episode 1. Powder was scared in the slomo shot, she ran away. Here Isha was the same but instead of running away, she run towards them to save them. "Thinking one day it could all go pew"
Isha is a representation of jinx second chance at powder. Shes what powder would have been had she not been subjected to silco or the guilt of vanders death. If shed had a sister instead of a hard nosed protector. Jinx gave isha what powder should have had and isha was a fucking selfless hero. Its brutal to know what powder became in the abscene of these things and its even harder to watch isha be everything we so desperate want jinx to fufill in herself and that the loss pf isha moved powder farther from that fufillment. We didnt deserve this. Its better than what we deserve.
So far we've seen how Powder had a sister who gave up on her just cuz she's different than she "should be"., but also Jinx being the sister Isha never had, and who apparently did a great job raising her. 2 cases where the same person was on the receiving and providing end of the parenting treatment. 2 different scenarios. We've seen how the rage of jinx made her create weapons, and how her actions lead to Isha's death. Isha saw how jinx behaved, and took her as an example, and she does for jinx what jinx would do for her, or at least what she would want jinx to do for her. Jinx's rage and pursue for destruction lead to the death of the closest person to her. You reap what you sow. Connecting all this, Jinx had a bad childhood, she has baggage, and she became a better sister to isha than Vi was to her. She wanted people to accept different, and the only way she saw was destruction. She lost a bigger sister, a family, and she had nothing else to lose. Now with Isha, she plotted everything differently as she stopped seeking destruction for a while. |f you don't know, her workshop was redecorated to be a good place for Isha to stay, and a safe one too. Now she loses another sister when she did everything BETTER (behavior wise) than we expected from her. She was becoming a better person. Now what will become of a person who lost everything TWICE? I cry everytime I watch this. I blame rito
Also, is this the only song that is not English in the series? It'd be funny, cuz even if it's just the only asian song, it's the song of Isha. That should mean something right?
@mohamedmarzouq I'm not sure, really. Isha never really talked except for a few words or grunts. Isha was able to (or seem to) understand jinx and jinx understood nonverbal cues.
@kristopherhayes1957 I wasnt trying to indicate that she was chinese. she was mute, and it just fascinates me that her song was the only non english song, as if that means something.
Isha never spoke a word, but Jinx understood her quite perfectly, and we the viewers did stumble in trying to fing the meanings of those non-verbal cues. She "communicated perfectly in her own way",but we, the able-bodied viewers lacked something (inspite of having all the both parts) and werw unable to understand her communication. Even in her death, Isha communicated "perfectly" via the song, and yet again we weren't able to understand her (assuming most of us don't understand Mandarin). So, even at the end, we are the one who are incomplete, not her... Sorry, if I don't make any sense....
Even knowing something bad was probably going to happen to Isha, I completely fell apart when I first saw this scene. Seeing them bring out the childlike innocence of each other makes Jinx's loss so much more devastating.
This was one of the hardest scenes to watch, but at the same time, so beautiful, so full of passion and love and dedication - most of all, appreciation for Jinx and all her love for someone when the audience thought she could not love again (and was full of hate). I've whatched it a couple more times after and it stills bring me to tears, it's incredible.
What gets me so much in this scene is how horrible Isha's little life had been and how happy she finally was with Jinx that it was worth to her sacrificing everything. It really gets you this scene.
I have to say, you gave an immense amount of willpower and self-control, that you had a tear rolling down. Most of us ended up bawling for minutes, and in shock for hours.
I've seen people here touching on every single beautiful and artistically flawless creative choice made during this scene aside from the music. I encourage all of you to watch the lyric video + translation of Isha's song from Eason Chan. The lyrics are some of the most beautiful I've ever read. The essence of the song is Isha telling Jinx to keep running, keep living, keep flying as a "carefree bird" and that Isha is at peace with herself and her choice. A couple lines listed below: "There was a time that, while we still looked and acted like children in a field amongst millions, we yearned to bloom with fragrance and splendor" "We are all bounded by nature, to bloom and to wither, Yet, even the most obstinate stone and rubble bloom with flowers." I think it's very much intentful that the writers chose to add a piece in mandarin here that most would not understand, yet would still convey the strong emotions throughout the scene. Isha is mute and we cannot understand her either, yet through her actions and facial expressions she becomes one of the most well-written and loved characters in the show. Words aren't needed for Isha to convey her sisterly love for Jinx (and seemingly vi and caitlyn as well to some degree.).

After all, there are Alternate Universes and Viktor was in some kind of "spiritual world of Hexer" in some episodes. So, who knows ?

Isha in Hindu means, "One Who Protects." The writers knew what they were doing.
Which makes it more sad that Isha would do anything to protect Jinx, even if that means giving her own life.
Jeebus H Chirstina man...
Hindu??? It’s literally from Persian and Muslim language
@@zh9335
The comment above me explains it pretty well. In arabic isha can mean night or life by my understanding. But sanskrit is the older language which the writers were going for, for the implication. Sanskrit, persian and arabic do use some similar words. For example eid is derived from vedic sanskrit word idhi
You'll be hearing from my therapist

I WAS THINKING WHY NO ONE MENTIONED THIS- i kept seeing that and it hurt oh my god

Whats crazy is that Warwick survived 3 of those gemstone explosions simutanously.
She didn’t speak a single word, but her willingness to sacrifice herself spoke volumes.
I love the way that they wrote this show in English but gave a mandarin song to the 1 mute character knowing that 70% of the viewing of the show wouldn’t understand the lyrics but still understand the emotion behind the song. That’s art.

The song is beautiful, despite not knowing the language. Music can cross so many boundaries.
Best song of the show
I thought it was an odd choice for such a sad scene, it sounds more like a triumphant song
Jinx "IT SHOULD'VE BEEN ME! NOT HER! IT'S NOT FAIR!"
Jinx wouldn't say that, because it would be too selfish. Protecting her family, and finally dying are the only two things she has truly wanted.
Seeing Isha die took everything from Jinx, even the cold comfort of her own suicidal ideation.

Silco himself said it... There's nothing more undoing than a daughter, and Isha was that for Jinx
it shows small detail of when they are entering and theyre forced to hand over their wepons. isha looks over at vi's gloves . it seems that she took the hextech crystals from her gloves and used them to overload jinxs wepon in the end . she uses 3 crystals , the same amount powder uses when she uses hextech for the first time.
And that she loved her big sis so much she would sacrifice herself for her.
this still has me bawling, even just hearing the song gets me in tears i will never get over this 😭😭😭 none of them deserved this
the fact that Isha died in a similar way as to when she accidentaly killed milo and clegor, with a weapon of hex crystals malfunctioning, is gonna be so traumatic for her. Poor girl doesn't deserve this
1:51 this moment has the same exact energy as when jinx ignites the flare. just the way it lines up perfectly with the music and the orchestra gets the loudest ughhhhhhh flawless.
I can’t watch this and not cry holy shit. The song and visuals kill me every time 😭
You know, this is emotional and all and it is a genuinely beautiful scene… but to be completely honest she did not need to do that.

@@mohamedmarzouq oh OK. Maybe that does make some sense.
Seeing them bring out the childlike innocence of each other makes Jinx's loss so much more devastating.

every time I watch this I sob uncontrollably. Isha was my favorite character
Isha must've watched Hamilton, because she didn't throw away her "Shot." 😅
I've seen people here touching on every single beautiful and artistically flawless creative choice made during this scene aside from the music. I encourage all of you to watch the lyric video + translation of Isha's song from Eason Chan. The lyrics are some of the most beautiful I've ever read. The essence of the song is Isha telling Jinx to keep running, keep living, keep flying as a "carefree bird" and that Isha is at peace with herself and her choice. A couple lines listed below:
"There was a time that, while we still looked and acted like children in a field amongst millions, we yearned to bloom with fragrance and splendor"
"We are all bounded by nature, to bloom and to wither, Yet, even the most obstinate stone and rubble bloom with flowers."
I think it's very much intentful that the writers chose to add a piece in mandarin here that most would not understand, yet would still convey the strong emotions throughout the scene. Isha is mute and we cannot understand her either, yet through her actions and facial expressions she becomes one of the most well-written and loved characters in the show. Words aren't needed for Isha to convey her sisterly love for Jinx (and seemingly vi and caitlyn as well to some degree.).
This literally broke my heart when I watched this scene
RIP Lil Isha, you will never suffer anymore 😔
